I've been enjoying your videos, very informative! I have a question, it seems like lighting comes in after furniture and decor in order to know what to illuminate and highlight. Yet, I've also heard you say (in Sophie Paterson's case) that you could do floor lighting since the floors where already in place. I guess my question is, at what point is lighting incorporated in a renovation for instance? If the home owner doesn't have all the furniture pieces and decor that how will light placing be determined?

Hi this is a very good question. You need to think about your lighting at the same time you think about your plumbing. In a new build or if you are totally renovating your room, this is before first fix so that wires can be put in place before plastering. If you were adding uplights, then it is before the flooring goes down again so that you can add the wiring in first. As you say how do you know what to illuminate if the furniture, art is not in place? You ideally need to create a floor plan prior to your lighting to ensure that the light is placed in the right places. As lighting designers we do find our time discussing furniture layouts with clients quite often! I hope this is helpful Sarah

How much would it cost to get the lights for a 3 bedroom apartment with design and installation? Just more or less?
