Forgot to mention, Sonic 3 AIR claims to require a Steam copy of 3K to be played. But that is no longer available... Fortunately, all it really needs to the right rom of Sonic 3 & Knuckles with the right name in the right folder. So if you just so happened to already have a rom of 3K that you acquired via totally legitimate means, you're good.

I'm not opposed to it. But I've never added subtitles to a RUclips video. I'd have to learn how to do it. I also don't know any other languages. So others would have to provide the translations.
Something for Sonic Unleashed Wii is "Werehog Wiimprovement" by SuperrSonic. It's a mod mostly focused around changing minor things, but it makes the very nice improvement of being able to disable the Werehog battle theme so you can just listen to the regular music (you can even change the music per act if you want). It also has the ability to switch to Japanese voice acting, turning off the glossy effect Sonic's model has and other smaller changes.
The sheer аutism of the fanbase is what motivates me to eventually try to play the whole series. Good job actually making a spreadsheet, I wish a similar effort existed for other franchises I care about.
the only reason sonic fans spend so much time making all these mods and fangames and fixes is because SEGA is too lazy to do it themselves, other franchises dont get this type of attention because those games already come with these basic features
22:10 In regards to Mania, there is a mod that's currently in development which aims to be what Forever and Absolute were to Sonic 1 & 2. It's called Sonic Mania Addendum, and it is a decomp mod which aims to fix oversights left by the developers like fixing character palette mess-ups (Mighty having a weird skin tone after turning Super and losing the Super transformation is an example). It also aims to add a shit ton of toggles like ones for the characters' moveset (Max control anyone?) or which character you'd like to have as a partner throughout the campaign no matter who you play as etc... It aims to even fix some very minor level design bullshit, and just overall tries to polish the game up further. Also, if you weren't sold on getting the mod, maybe you'd be if I told you about the addition of a playable Amy, complete with her own character slot? If you want to try it out, a demo was first released for the Sonic Hacking Contest. It's since been getting more progress, with the addition of CE+ skins being in the works, and even mobile support if you're into that kind of thing. I genuinely recommend checking it out.
It's not exactly a Forever/Absolute equivalent as Mania, it's more like a Shadow Reloaded equivalent in my opinion. Although it is in fact the best version to play the game without a doubt.
Best part is the comments on the mod page where the creator gets weirdly hostile to anyone who thinks you shouldn’t have to 100% the game multiple times to unlock the original soundtracks in the mod to restore the game to it’s original version.
Thank you so much for bringing more light to Shadow Reloaded. It's an excellent mod which fixes some of the only gripes I have with my favourite Sonic game!
There is one bug where for a short while after using Chaos Control on the 16:9 version of Reloaded, the screen is squished together. Not sure what causes it, just know it's there. Other than that, it's a perfect mod I'd say.@@dreamsyntax
@@jinxyjangle This is actually a side effect of my widescreen patch and Dolphin's aspect heuristic. You can prevent this by choosing Graphics -> Aspect Ratio (16:9 or Stretch to Windows, whatever you prefer). I'll see if I can fix this, but its low priority since its a dolphin behavior.
Your original video on this was my introduction to playing this series a bit over a year ago and it became one of my favourite franchises. Can't wait to update the games I haven't gotten around to yet, thanks for all this Pariah!
@@elibonham4388 So far I've completed 1-3 (including CD and not including "& Knuckles"), Adventure 1, Unleashed, Gens. As for the games I've played for a couple hours but not finished, I've tried Sonic R, Heroes, Secret Rings, UnWIIshed, Colors and Frontiers. I have all the mainline games and most of the side games set up and ready to play via emulation
This is such a nice surprise to see a new version of your old enhancements video! I’ve been using your spreadsheet for about a year now and it’s introduced me to so many QOL improvements for the whole series that I otherwise would never know about
Sidenote about Sonic Heroes: there's a mod called Sonic Heroes Adventure that fixes the scripted sequence problem (on top of a lot of it's own original changes)
There is also Sonic Origins Ultrafix as an alternative for the 4 classic sonic games, which fixes and improves a lot of parts of Origins (such as the lack of arrow key support, sprite restorations and tweaks, and other fixes). I’d probably recommend this to people who want a more “purist” version as while S1F and S2A are amazing, some find it changes too much. Overall tho great video!
Thanks for the recommendation. I really don't like some of the changes in Absolute and Forever. The redone spritework just makes everything look cheaply "cute" and the original charm of the game gets lost as a result. The Hidden Palace omission is another thing that turns me off from the project. They removed it because they're annoyed that it wasn't "hidden enough". Whatever that means. I don't like when modders feel like they should have to one up the original devs. I'm all for people putting their own spins on things, but at least have the decency to make significant changes like that toggleable. The Taxman take on the Hidden Palace entry was commendable as a wink and nudge toward an infamous set piece in the game. It was smart to not be overly ambitious with it.
Another mod I recommend to people who are using any sort of volume tweaking mod for SA2 is the Transforming Scene Volume Fix mod. Cutscene Revamp and Volume Control are great mods, but it kind of ruins the scene where Sonic and Shadow power up to fight the Biolizard because Live and Learn gets drowned out. Transforming Scene Volume Fix addresses that problem. It might conflict with the other mods in the spreadsheet. I'm not sure. But just thought I'd mention it.
Saving this for future reference. I have a pretty big backlog to cover for 2024, so it'll be nice to have some of this on-hand for whenever a Sonic game shows up. Thanks for the list, broski!
30:34 Small thing about Sonic X-treme: There are several leaked builds of the game available online you could play, as well as a leaked dev build complete with the engine used to play it. They're better to play for the novelty of it, as these builds aren't entirely stable (or fun, for that matter) but they are a very nice look-through for those curious enough.
Another recommendation that can be made for Advance 2 is Sonic Advance 2 SP. It's a rom hack that not only reduces the special ring requirements from seven to five (along with more added special rings added to each level), but it also adds some new level layouts to reduce the amount of bottomless pits later levels can exhibit and in turn help make the difficulty curve more gradual compared to the original game.
I'm aware of it. But level design and physics changes are things I'm very wary about. Usually I find they harm the game though a lack of understanding why things are the way they are in the first place.
@@Pariah6950advanced 1 has a fullscreen version of the game with super widescreen with shadow silver blaze and tails as a playability. The last time i checked there were only 4 levels available as far as im aware
@@Pariah6950there's a section in Sonic advance 1 where you basically have to go back and forth a bunch of times while you're climbing up this spot and it's super annoying and dumb because of how close it is so like yeah that should definitely be changed.
As a casual Sonic fan myself, I have dismissed many of these games, but now, thanks to this video and your dedication of doing a list, I might do a Sonic binge over the holidays.
For generations there is mod for cutscenes in 720p like ps3. Normally they are in 480p like on x360. And I also recomend mods like: Better fxpepile for better antyaliasing and mod "soft shadows" for ofc better looking shadows
@@elibonham4388 PS3 used Blu-Ray, 360 still used DVD. Less storage space for the fmvs, so they had to be rendered at 480p on 360. I imagine the reason they're 480p on PC is also to cut down on the filesize.
First off, fantastic video! I really appreciate your efforts here and look forward to trying these out. Something worth mentioning for Unleashed: if you don't have a good PC, and happen to have an Xbox Series X, Unleashed has a pretty good backwards compatible version. That version is enhanced with higher resolution, framerate and is overall much more stable than the original 360 version. It doesn't address any issues with the game itself of course, but at least Adabat doesn't drop to 12 fps anymore lol. I recently got to 100% it thanks to that and had a much more enjoyable time than I did originally on 360... still not my favorite though.
For Forces I would recommend the "Sonic Forces: Reimagined" mod. Even though it is somewhat of an overhaul they've also altered the physics slightly for Modern + Avatar and made the level design not only just more engaging but there are entirely new sections to make the stage length a lot more longer. Sunset Heights, Aqua Road, Guardian Rock, Network Terminal, Arsenal Pyramid and Iron Fortress are the ones that have new sections.
Not an improvement, but there's also a mod for Frontiers, found in the Internet Archive, that adds the Japan-only DLCs. Similarly, SADX has mods that restores the original SA1 DLCs. 32:55 You forgot to mention that Riders has a PC version, as a side note, even if it's not preferable over the emulated Gamecube version.
Finally, someone brings up Miracle Edition. I always liked that one better and never understood why people liked Restored better, as that changed WAY too much for my liking.
Not to mention the guy behind Restored, PimpUigi, is a massive prick with an ego who can't criticism over his project (he even disabled stamps on his account and uses a phony +7 agree signature to make it "look" like people are agreeing with his nonsense). The same can be said for the RSDK decomp developers (especially LittlePlanetCD who has been a massive SJW from personal experience) forcing people to pay for Origins Plus for features that _used_ to be freely available in mods up until that cashgrab of a collection removed the original games off digital distribution and they masked off against make people who already purchased Sonic 1, 2, 3&K, and CD in other forms prior to Sonic Origins. Didn't help that in Sonic CD Restored you're forced to play the game twice or speedrun it to unlock the costume soundtrack feature, which used to be available when it used to as Sonic CD Restored + ...And Knuckles add-on before these changes, and even still that mod it is lacking compared to Sonic CD: Miracle Edition's or the older Restored & Knuckles add-on's selection of music. For the people who DO want to get those features back into recent versions of Miracle Edition, Restored, certain other mods, and the decomps themselves since they decided to lock all this stuff behind an arbitrary paywall since the mobile ports 1, 2, and CD are F2P, you'd have to go through this tedious, time-consuming process of installing development tools (which eat up a TON of disk space to use, by the way), compiling this crap from source code, dumping the raw data files out of the RSDK files, extracting the missing audio files from either the mobile versions of 1, 2, and CD then adding all of the missing music and sounds from Origins Plus to the data files because the Origins/Plus RSDKs don't have any audio files inside them since sound is entirely handled by the Hedgehog Engine 2 in Sonic Origins or ripping the audio files from Origins Plus itself, hex editing certain files to make them work correctly in the decompilation ports... all this crap that some people who either don't have the time or patience to learn how to manually is why I definitely can see why Pariah (and many others) didn't bother with doing any of this stuff on this video for Miracle Edition. It's even worse for those who may not even have legitimate access to Sonic Origins Plus in their region as someone in GameBanana said, but you're screwed if you're in that situation because that's the """rules""" for the decompilation ports now. This is why I said Bethesda respected classic Doom and Quake fans better than Sega does with Sonic the Hedgehog, yet little miss LittlePlanetCD and others got so offended by my opinions on Sonic Origins that they gone out of their way to silence/censor my comments (by abusing GameBanana's site rules) and harass me. Great modding community of brittle-skinned bootlickers.
@@ViperAcidZX There’s only one answer for you: legality. All these ways are legal ways of obtaining the games. Distributing these games in a new package would mean directly competing with SEGA’s current offering. Hence why all this tedious process is required.
@@ViperAcidZX I agree with you that the CD situation kind of sucks, but the alternative is potentially illegal. The idea is so that SEGA doesn't start to act like how Nintendo does with fan projects. It sucks, but it's the only way to stay on SEGA's good side.
@@ViperAcidZX Holy shit, I already hated PimpUigi's bitch ass but the fake +7 agree signature is unbelievably pathetic, I had to check it out myself and I can't believe it's actually real. This is great! I'm trying to get a friend to play the whole franchise. I'd love an update with the Advance Trilogy, Battle, and the so called "Rush Trilogy" to have the definitive way to play almost all Sonic games
What an amazing video! This will give me the chance to experience old and new games in a different and better way. I appreciate the effort put into bringing this all together.
its probably worth mentioning that soon there will be a mod for Sonic Colours Ultimate called Project ReRainbow which aims to improve the graphics and gameplay by a pretty large margin. It's being done by bluwolfblitz and it genuinely looks really good, too soon to say but it could probably end up being the definitive way to play colours
Thank you so much for this! I'm seeing the Sonic Symphony this summer and as a true fake fan I haven't played EVERY entry in the franchise! This is exactly what I was looking for to experience more of the franchise
There's a Classic Sonic improvement mod for Generations too, and it's so good. It feels pretty close to the Genesis games, and makes the game so much more fun. I'm surprised it wasn't mentioned in this video. I still really liked this! Even if I'm aware of most of this stuff, I get inherent joy from seeing someone talk about cool fan projects.
@@Pariah6950 Really? That's interesting, because I haven't encountered anything like that. I know they even altered some of the level design to accommodate the new physics. Maybe they didn't catch everything, and I just missed all of that.

As good as Project 06 is and as much of an improvement over the original as it is, I do not think it is a replacement for the original yet. Thank you for including that little bit about Legacy of Solaris, I wasn't aware of Shadow Reloaded so it's good seeing an improvement mod for the game. Great video and really good mods overall, legend.
@@grthjryrd7552 Well it’s also because P-06 is very incomplete and missing things from the original game, but I do agree that experiencing how terrible the original release (especially the PS3 version) is important and can lead to some funny moments.
I'm telling y'all, once you get into modding games with QoL stuff it can go into unhealthy habit. Started with modding Minecraft and Sonic Generations years ago and now I can't check out games without checking after a bit if there are any quality of life mods that I'd install instantly lmao. Thanks for the your work with this broski, gonna keep that spreadsheet saved for a long time. Also man, what a shame there's no care for Sonic Battle :(
Great Vid! As another Sonic fan who also largely prefers to mod/hack games to be better rather than just play them at base I appreciate that you are trying to make that easier for people. I have a few extra notes since you mentioned you wanted some. There is also a Classic Sonic Improvement Mod for Generations that makes him play more similar to the Genesis games, and a rom hack that gives Sonic the Super Peel Out in OG Sonic 2 MS (if someone wants a more OG experience like me). I also noticed you didn't mention the Sonic R Improvement Mod in the vid, though it is in the spreadsheet so I doubt it matters much. There is also a PS3 version of Legacy of Solaris (not the old unfinished one a new completed one) and you can of course emulate PS3 Sonic Unleashed, but you need a specific version of RPCS3. The reason you would want to use RPCS3 for either game is if you don't have a computer that is good enough to run Xenia (like me). There are also some improvement mods for Sonic Battle. Namely Sonic Battle Enhanced, Knuckles Improvement Mod, and Chaos Buffed. For Forces, I would recommend the Sonic Forces Reimagined mod, so that the levels are actually good. Far as I know it is usable with Forces Classic Sonic Improvement, but it turns off the Chaos Bossfight, so I would (and have) use it up till you encounter Chaos in the Story as Classic and then just turn it off and fight Chaos with CSI. I have heard that the mods apparently will be made compatible later as well (Reimagined isn't done). Colors DS is also very worth playing (personally I like it more) and there is a great mod for it. Sonic Colors DS Ultimate makes the game one screen, widescreen, and lets you customize Sonic like in Colors Ultimate. I would recommend that people emulate Rush Adventure and use AR codes to skip the grinding in that game. Sonic Pocket Adventure has Sonic Pocket Winter, which adds Sonic's Super Peel Out, Knuckles, and Tails to the single player(Tails was only in multiplayer) complete with Gliding and Flying. Some other more minor features too. Sonic Advance: Tweaked nerfs the ring amount needed in special stages, and gives the pause screen the same functions as in time attack.
For mania, i recommend a mod called Sonic Mania Addendum, its basically adds new options, adds Amy as an extra characters and you can transform into Miracle forms! It's really cool
Don't know if you will see this but mods I recommend for SA2 on steam are "SA2 Render Fix", "SA2 Animation & physics", "Smooth wall collisions V2", "Turning Corrections" and "Dynamic field of View". The first 3 I especially recommend, it makes playing SA2 just superior to the vanilla experience.
Hey there is a really big mod for sonic forces called sonic forces overclocked It's basically a new game that looks really good! The full release is not out yet but it is close so I say keep an eye on it.
A small addition to 06. I believe Xenia Canary is better for 06 and Legacy of Solaris. Also, no matter what you choose, if you're playing 06 on Xenia/Canary, occasionally the graphics will go haywire. When this happens, simply press F5 to clear the cache. Also, when using 06 mod loader, enable several patches including disable stumble, enable rapid homing attack and fix air momemtum, controllable bound attack, spammable spindash and others I've inevitably forgotten.
@@evdestroy4121 I figured, thanks for confirming. I've been enjoying LoS so far, so I wasn't too curious about them. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything.
So for SA2, he includes the Physics Swap mod, which allows you to swap physics for characters. My reccomendation(and my main use for the mod) is to swap Tails and Eggmans mech physics with SADX gamma. I recently finished SA1 for the first time after playing only the first 3 stories for the past 15 years, and gamma is so much fun, and makes you wonder why the mechs are so slow and cumbersome in SA2. By switching the physics, they are still a bit more awkwaed than gamma was, but it feels so much better to run around with them. Eggman controls a bit better vanilla than tails, so you can just swap tails if you want, but I reccomend to do both
All the Sonic games in one video, its quite a lengthy one, did watch this for Half an hour to the end, awesome and congratulations showing them all, well the important quality ones, there has been some Sonic games in the past which are unplayable.
If I may add some to Generations Mods - BetterFxPipeline - Configurations Mismatch Fix - Higher Poly Gens Model - HD Icons Codes - Restore Right Stick Camera Controls - Fix Homing Trail Position - Fix Input Delay at Arbitrary Frames (Experimental) - Fix Loading Screen Stutter - Fix Skydive Collision Detection - Disable Super Sonic Floating Boost (Air Boost) - Disable Super Sonic Floating Boost (Ground Boost) ///These two are personal preference but I like Super Sonic lasting longer than 5 seconds, skipping half the level. - Allow Controller Hotplugging - Disable Artificial Loading Times ///Removes Omochao tips but that's not much of a loss.
@@Amsel_616I just don't like super sonic skipping the level. Although it's a well designed tool with pros and cons, I don't like just skipping the game. That's something I can commend for Sonic Forces for improving.
Awesome vid, now I know about cd me. I created the 7th gen buttons for heroes pc, so thanks for adding my mod to your spreadsheet! I made a few more button mods for heroes pc that use the original legends from the ps2, gc and og xbox versions and they have widescreen revamp support too. I also did one for sa2 that uses the legends from gens ps3, this one was created before hd gui so compatibility needs to be enabled for hd gui to work properly.
As for Unleashed on Xenia, it can actually be completed on the DirectX rendered despite occasional crashes here and there. It can get VERY annoying on Eggmanland and the final bosses because of those crashes, but it is doable. Also, for Generations, Classic Sonic Improvement mod is a must-have. It changes Classic Sonic's physics to being much more closer to the Genesis games and makes some level tweaks to accommodate those changes. Also the elemental shields become available as regular items in regular levels, there are some toggleable cosmetic differences and so on.
for advance 1 there's a romhack that let's you return to the main menu after pausing in the main mode of the game (It's an extremley minor thing but it makes it so you don't need to restart the game if you want to change character while playing the main campaign)
you should of mentions the Classic Sonic Improvement Mod for generations, if you didnt know it fixes the physics quite a bit giving classic sonic a good sence of momentom aswell as giving him his classic move set with the peelout and drop dash and the insta shield as an unlockable and it touches up a few of the zones here and there to make classic sonic over all more enjoyable
A mod for generations that you may or may not be on board with is Sonic Generations Redux. It's an improvement mod that tweaks a lot of things like lighting, physics, moveset, camera, sounds, and music. It's a lot of changes so I do understand if you think you don't get the core Generations experience playing it. But after playing with redux a lot, it's hard for me to go back to base generations. Especially with the zoomed out camera and extra jump height for Classic Sonic stages.
Damn dude, I thought I was playing the best version of Sonic Adventure because I was playing BetterSADX. I'll definitely watch this video again later to check out the other fan enhancements, too. Thanks for making this.

For 3 A.I.R,there's a mod called "save the second act of current zone" that does as it says and lets you select acts separately in completed save files, along with it saving your score, lives and continues from the first act.
Personally, for Forces, I'd recommend the "Sonic Forces Re-imagined" mod. It basically changes all of the levels in the game to be more than two minutes long, and it's honestly really fun.
i recommend adding the epilogue expansion for sonic forever to the spreadsheet, it adds mighty and ray, adds some new things to the settings menu, and remakes the sprites of tails, knuckles, and amy in the first game's style
i'd recommend the classic sonic improvement mod for generations as that adds a way nicer classic sonic model, along with being able to get a more accurate classic sonic experience.
20:54 Surprisingly even though he talked about DX, when I looked at the spreadsheet, the first thing on the colors section is Re-rainbowed which is a mod for ultimate that fixes ultimate.
I have an idea for you. If you think it'll be fun, you could make updated videos of these "best version of Sonic games" as a new years thing. It'll be pretty cool to start a new year experiencing something fresh, and sharing that with the Sonic community.
thank you man, i literally had this conversation with a friend a few weeks ago and i could only tell him 16/8 bit games remakes/enhancements but couldn't tell him anything past this so this helps tremendously. One thing i noticed you left out - you can't use the steam version for sonic 3 anymore for sonic air since you know... you can't buy it from sonic origins. edit: apparently your pinned comment said that - sorry didn't see that :(
Just saw something cool for Superstars It’s called the Superstars abilities mod it adds stuff like the Insta-Shield, Flight Cancel, A Glide more akin to the Classics for Knuckles
Fun fact: when ever I added the mods in the 1.2.8v of S2A there were minor bugs that just showed up. Like for example: whenever peel-outing during the loops, he doesn’t even rotate.
One thing i wish you talked about was if those versions of sonic 1-3 and cd had crt filters, something like sonic manias "crt soft" setting, that's pretty much my make or break feature
for Unleashed I'd also recommend 2K/4K Flashing Lights Fix (because you may encounter flashing lights) and a mod called Tornado Stage Skip which removes Tornado Defense Act 1/2 (known to be very difficult QTE stages). Warning tho, you'll get an E rank on them if you install this mod. so if you want to S-rank the entirety of this game, just stick to the original with only the 2K/4K Flashing Lights Fix mod

Your original video on this was my introduction to playing this series a bit over a year ago and it became one of my favourite franchises. Can't wait to update the games I haven't gotten around to yet, thanks for all this Pariah!
What games have you played so far
W awesome new Sonic fan
@@elibonham4388 So far I've completed 1-3 (including CD and not including "& Knuckles"), Adventure 1, Unleashed, Gens. As for the games I've played for a couple hours but not finished, I've tried Sonic R, Heroes, Secret Rings, UnWIIshed, Colors and Frontiers. I have all the mainline games and most of the side games set up and ready to play via emulation
@@Far2Sega4U Honestly one of my favourite communities to be apart of. So many passionate and talented people, it's really cool.
This is such a nice surprise to see a new version of your old enhancements video! I’ve been using your spreadsheet for about a year now and it’s introduced me to so many QOL improvements for the whole series that I otherwise would never know about
Recently I got a Steam Deck so this list is perfect timing now that I finally have this device and can play all these games
Yay! Somebody said it!
Your mod is now recommended on PCGaming Wiki. Isn’t that cool?
Added. Thanks.
Now this is a christmas gift pariah. Merry christmas and thank you for the content you produce
It's been added. Thanks!
@@Pariah6950 please also add those 2 mods I write after editing
@@revi6355wtf is it in 480p xbox360 lmao
@@elibonham4388 PS3 used Blu-Ray, 360 still used DVD. Less storage space for the fmvs, so they had to be rendered at 480p on 360. I imagine the reason they're 480p on PC is also to cut down on the filesize.
Thank you for putting so much effort into informing people who want to experience the best way to play these games. Respect.
Sunset Heights, Aqua Road, Guardian Rock, Network Terminal, Arsenal Pyramid and Iron Fortress are the ones that have new sections.
hard agree
Not an improvement, but there's also a mod for Frontiers, found in the Internet Archive, that adds the Japan-only DLCs.
Similarly, SADX has mods that restores the original SA1 DLCs.
32:55 You forgot to mention that Riders has a PC version, as a side note, even if it's not preferable over the emulated Gamecube version.
wait Frontiers has region-exclusive DLCs? 😭
@@Windermed Region-exclusive store-exclusive pre-order DLCs
Amazing video, reaally helped me with SA 2 Mod recommendations (also, just gonna assume this is before Dream Team)
@@ViperAcidZXhe seems like an asshole judging by some of his comments on the gamebanana page.
So glad Miracle Edition exists, I haven't been into the CD modding scene in a while since I've been sticking with an older version of Restored that still combines with & Knuckles so I'm happy to check it out.
This was fucking amazing. I’d love a fan game compilation video like this too
Check my 30 Awesome Sonic Fan Games video.
Dude you’re actually awesome! Nobody asked you for this, but you decided to bless the community with this anyway. A true blessing, and a great way to begin the new year

You dropped this king 👑
Glad Shadow Reloaded was mentioned, I've been meaning to fully play through it for a while, it's looks pretty nice
But... i like the werehog levels T.T no joke is the reason why i love unleashed so much. Sonic levels are as incredible as ppl say, but i also had a blast playing the werehog stages.
There both great! The same in unwished
they are really fun but way too long for my taste, most werehog levels take on average 20-30 minutes
@@lorenzoreigada9681 i recall like 2 taking 20 mins to me, the rest were like 10-15, and i loved every second of it beside one specific session of arid sands night that had a secret fight that felt like it would never end for how many enemies it had spawning ome after the other. Despite that, i loved it so much! Maybe playing with the no battle music mod was the key lmao
Assuming the plumber’s legal team doesn’t come after you, it would be amazing if you made a video like this for other series like Mario, Zelda or Metroid. Great video!
Thank you for this video. I’ve been trying to play unleashed but never knew where to start so this helps me a lot thank you Pariah
This is great! I'm trying to get a friend to play the whole franchise. I'd love an update with the Advance Trilogy, Battle, and the so called "Rush Trilogy" to have the definitive way to play almost all Sonic games
Hey, nice! The previous version of this video is what got me into your channel. Glad to see an update
Thank you for this great info when I start a Sonic marathon.
What an amazing video! This will give me the chance to experience old and new games in a different and better way. I appreciate the effort put into bringing this all together.
Pariah doing god's work
its probably worth mentioning that soon there will be a mod for Sonic Colours Ultimate called Project ReRainbow which aims to improve the graphics and gameplay by a pretty large margin.
I don't have it here because some of the level design breaks due to the altered physics. And I was encountering a lot of bugs using it.
@@Pariah6950 Really? That's interesting, because I haven't encountered anything like that. I know they even altered some of the level design to accommodate the new physics. Maybe they didn't catch everything, and I just missed all of that.
@@Pariah6950it is worth giving that mod a replay. In its current state all levels have been modified to work with the new physics. It is not perfect, but it's more satisfying to play than vanilla classic sonic in Generations

thank you!!! very excited to go through this series, especially 2d sonic... gameplay looks so fun
As good as Project 06 is and as much of an improvement over the original as it is, I do not think it is a replacement for the original yet.
Thank you for including that little bit about Legacy of Solaris, I wasn't aware of Shadow Reloaded so it's good seeing an improvement mod for the game.
Great video and really good mods overall, legend.
agreed people need to see how hilariously awful it is first
@@grthjryrd7552 Well it’s also because P-06 is very incomplete and missing things from the original game, but I do agree that experiencing how terrible the original release (especially the PS3 version) is important and can lead to some funny moments.

Also man, what a shame there's no care for Sonic Battle :(
oh my god same. I went from modding minecraft to Sonic Mania then Fortnite and now I’m into modding Sonic again and the persona games too
Dude you're a G for providing this list
Deff coming back to this video. You put me onto to so many different ways to play sonic games that I didn't know about
This is really in-detail, thanks
thanks a lot for this dude, cant wait to play through all these games again 😊
You deserve an Award for this! 🏆
Incredible video, this needs to reach more people and that's why I leave my comment, great video!!! Thank you so much
"Sonic Riders Zero Gravity is way worse than the original"
"do you really wanna play the Werehog levels? Probably not"
and I took that personally
Colors Ultimate is gonna have a main mod coming soon that fixes its problems called Project Re-Rainbow
Oh yes, I can not wait for that.
Oh yeah i saw these posted on vg. Great work man! im glad i waited for people to fix frontiers for me
Been waiting for this vid. Thanks a lot!
Hey there is a really big mod for sonic forces called sonic forces overclocked
It's basically a new game that looks really good! The full release is not out yet but it is close so I say keep an eye on it.
I was a little disappointed by it but only because I expected it to be a remake of Forces not a sequel
Canary is generally just better overall
Do those patches work with Legacy of Solaris? Only reason I haven't checked them out
@@HazeX2 Do not use patches with LoS. A lot of those patches are already baked into the game, and many of the ones that aren't will break things.
@@evdestroy4121 I figured, thanks for confirming. I've been enjoying LoS so far, so I wasn't too curious about them. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything.
I really like the word "curio" now. Also, it's good to see my friend ClassicSonicSaturn being represented.
Eggman controls a bit better vanilla than tails, so you can just swap tails if you want, but I reccomend to do both
This video was a godsend, thank you man.
All the Sonic games in one video, its quite a lengthy one, did watch this for Half an hour to the end, awesome and congratulations showing them all, well the important quality ones, there has been some Sonic games in the past which are unplayable.
Congratulations for this effort!

@@Amsel_616I just don't like super sonic skipping the level. Although it's a well designed tool with pros and cons, I don't like just skipping the game. That's something I can commend for Sonic Forces for improving.
Great video you are clearly a very smart and passionate person
This spreadsheet is proof that Sonic the Fighters is a flawless game that can't be improved on :kekw:
Wonderful wealth of info. Definitely keeping it in my pocket.
You are an amazing youtuber love these kind of videos
for advance 1 there's a romhack that let's you return to the main menu after pausing in the main mode of the game (It's an extremley minor thing but it makes it so you don't need to restart the game if you want to change character while playing the main campaign)
Bro i swear when i fail a speciak stage i close the game then open it
Well done mate I appreciate the effort
you should of mentions the Classic Sonic Improvement Mod for generations, if you didnt know it fixes the physics quite a bit giving classic sonic a good sence of momentom aswell as giving him his classic move set with the peelout and drop dash and the insta shield as an unlockable and it touches up a few of the zones here and there to make classic sonic over all more enjoyable
Great video man, thanks for the effort
Is it crazy to anyone else that Sonic Heroes, the sequel to SA2 is just….not available at all, outside the official release? 20 years ago?
I’m getting a PC for Christmas so this is a godsend of a video lmao
thank you so much for this video some of the games actually helped me like the sonic cd miracle edition i will enhance all my sonic games that doesn't have the enhancements you said in this video and again thank you.
Thank you so much man I have just recently bought a pc and I very slowly got into emulation I have dolphin and a Wii u emulator of the moment but diffently will give most of these a check out ❤
For 3 A.I.R,there's a mod called "save the second act of current zone" that does as it says and lets you select acts separately in completed save files, along with it saving your score, lives and continues from the first act.
Thanks for this video! You’re awesome.
Im a huge Shadow fan so Ill mention Cooler Sonic Plus for Mania and the Shadow mod for sonic 3 air.
i'd recommend the classic sonic improvement mod for generations as that adds a way nicer classic sonic model, along with being able to get a more accurate classic sonic experience.
20:54 Surprisingly even though he talked about DX, when I looked at the spreadsheet, the first thing on the colors section is Re-rainbowed which is a mod for ultimate that fixes ultimate.
Re-rainbow did not exist at the time of making this vid.
Oh. Makes sense.
I have an idea for you. If you think it'll be fun, you could make updated videos of these "best version of Sonic games" as a new years thing. It'll be pretty cool to start a new year experiencing something fresh, and sharing that with the Sonic community.
This is so awesome! Thank you so much 😭😭
8:16 For me Sonic CD with the & Knuckles mod is the best way to play.
Awesome! But for Sonic Colors I would look out for bluwolf’s Project are-Rainbow project when it drops!
thank you man, i literally had this conversation with a friend a few weeks ago and i could only tell him 16/8 bit games remakes/enhancements but couldn't tell him anything past this so this helps tremendously. One thing i noticed you left out - you can't use the steam version for sonic 3 anymore for sonic air since you know... you can't buy it from sonic origins.
edit: apparently your pinned comment said that - sorry didn't see that :(
Just saw something cool for Superstars
It’s called the Superstars abilities mod it adds stuff like the Insta-Shield, Flight Cancel, A Glide more akin to the Classics for Knuckles
insane video man thanks
people are already working on making dream on other devices so keep an eye on it if you don't have an apple device
The mGBA emulator allows you to crank up the resolution for sprite-rotation and Mode7 effects. Makes the Advance games look real good.
I really enjoyed this video! 👍
