    ►About FobBattery:
I once had to change my own key fob battery and discovered there was no central resource on key fob batteries. So, I created the FobBattery website. Check out our website for photos, free guides, and a current list of brands we have built out a database of batteries and fobs for. fobbattery.com/

Thank you for clarifying how many batteries go into the key fob. We own a 2015 S60 Volvo. One video I looked at said to install two batteries, but the interior of my fob looked different. Apparently, not all S60s come with the same key fob! Many thanks from a 78-eight-year female DIYer.

Good video. But here are two comments. First, my 6-button fob requires two CR 2430 batteries. The first one, placed under a plastic divider goes + side up. The second battery, placed on top of the plastic divider, requires the + side to be facing down. My second comment is that if your fob has not been opened for a long time, it can be very hard to open. For the one I just changed, it had never been opened since I purchased the car in 2014. Neither the spare key nor the screwdriver could budge it at first and I was scared of breaking the plastic if I applied enough force to open it. I tried tapping the edges with the head of the screwdriver, but that did not help. Finally, I got a can of WD-40 and carefully put some WD-40 onto the rectangular crevice separating the two halves of the fob enclosure. Then I tapped around the edge again a few times. That loosened it a little. I ended up going through 4 rounds of applying WD-40, tapping the edges, and prying with the key and with the screwdriver. Finally, it opened enough to slip in a thin teflon tipped screwdriver (from a computer repair kit), and using that screwdriver I was able to pop the casing apart. There appeared to be no WD-40 inside the case. Then I replaced the batteries and popped the case back together. The other variation I made was to wear disposable plastic gloves to avoid leaving perspiration from my fingers on the battery. I have read that touching the battery may reduce battery life. I hope I never have to do this again but perhaps it would open more easily a second time.

Thank you for the video. It is so easy using the key to pop the fob open.

The Fob for my 2014 S60 needs 2 batteries. It is a 6 button type. Other than that same process. Still love my car.

Thanks for the video. A couple of questions: 1) Can the spare key be used to drive the car without replacing the battery or only to open the door? 2) After changing the battery, does the fob need to be reprogrammed? Thanks!
