I just had the pleasure of watching Jane Krakowski's wonderful performance of this song and I wondered if my memory of the brilliance if Sally Mayes' performance was exaggerated. Well, I just watched Sally again and fell in love with her Ilona all over again. Comparing Krakowski and Mayes' performances is a demonstration of how a great piece of material can be equally effective with different interpretations.
So glad you put this up here, and great thanks! I've been in love with her performance on the cast recording (and in love with the whole thing) since first hearing it years ago. It's such a great show, and I'm glad it's back on Broadway now.
Thank you so much for uploading all of these She Loves Me videos! I look forward to more if you've got them! Is there a whole recording of this production out there?
She has one of those forced vibratos, that's why you see hea go up and down on a held note. I hate that style of singing because it's too distracting in a live performance but man I lover her voice and I own all of her solo albums. But with that said her acting is on point.

Well put. Thanks.
Wonderful performance, and a reminder of the brilliance of the late Sheldon Harnick's lyric-writing skills.
Acting students should watch closely how Sally uses her hands to tell us what's happening below the surface of the story. Masterclass!

One of a series of great numbers in the second act: "Ice Cream," "She Loves Me," "Trip to the Library," "Grand Knowing You."

Why is she done up like Helena Bonham Carter?!

I don't see what you seem to be describing, unless you're referring to specific acting choices at various points? Even so, I didn't notice... where?
