Back in WW2, they built planes and stuff in there, as far as I remember. Today it's used as a mine. But could be that I'm wrong.
I wish all cod games had intro cutscenes and victory/loss cutscenes like these even for classic multiplayer modes. I think it really helps make the maps interesting if there is a little bit of story behind them, explaining why you are even fighting in that location. Show how the ‘attacking’ team got there, and what the ‘defense’ team was doing right before the fight, or maybe both teams were rushing there to secure a valuable asset. Etc
Love the most is the names hovering above the random soldiers in cutscenes, so it gives us the impression of what's our character's story. Makes me wish lots of multiplayer games did this, especially really old ones. Imagine if they did something like this with Halo, cutscene for the spartans vs cutscene for the elites.

You've gotta give the animation guys credit, they actually made different variations of some of the cutscenes. Like stopping the tank very early on in Operation Griffin will actually show a slightly different animation than the one here.

At 3:30 I think there were 2 cutscenes. If you stoped the Axis in the first or second section, it only showed the bridge blowing up. If you stopped them in the third section it showed them getting blown up with the bridge.

This is one of the many reasons that I love World War 2. The intro to every war mission made me feel like I was actually playing as that soldier instead of a stale figure, and the ending cuscene either made me feel great victory (if I was the Allies) or a stunning defeat (if I was the Axis). This was a fantastic game, and I shall always remember my first video of this game. Absolutely fantastic. To Sledgehammer Games and the Call of Duty Community, You all have done a great job. 🙂❤
Say what you will about the game itself (it sucked) but it really did pave the way for really cool opening cutscenes like the ones shown in MW. It just makes the immersion a little more convincing. Gives you a story to play off of.
