  • Sometimes when we're recovering from DPDR it can feel like a real struggle and days, weeks and months of struggle can really just make you over it. In this vid I talk about what to do if you're over your DPDR recovery.
If you'd like to chat with me about your DPDR and how to overcome it please get in touch.

This is a channel for people who suffer from dissociation (depersonalization and derelization - DPDR). If you have depersonalization or derealization there is a way to get out of it and get your life back. DPDR is a form of anxiety that makes you feel like you're looking at yourself from the outside (depersonalization) or you experience life 'like looking through a fishbowl' (derealization), or both (DPDR). Essentially you feel disconnected from yourself and everything around you, for hours or even weeks and months at a time.
It can be extremely scary and exhausting and often it feels like there is no way out which causes a lot of anxiety. However, there is a way out and it's absolutely possible to live a normal and connected life, permanently.
If you'd like to know more about your depersonalization and derelization and how to overcome it, please book a free discovery call with me. Together we'll go into why you dissociate, the path to recovery, how to finally overcome it and how to stop it coming back.

I just don't know how to not react. The DP is so strong, it feels like that's all there is. I can't compartmentalize it at all, or step back, or view it objectively. I feel like I'm just floating in a life boat out at sea in a fog. I don't know how to stop fighting it.

It is tough, one and a half year into it constantly but lately on and off😔
I feel changes in a better way, fighting it makes things so much worse

Are you in a fog with what to do with DPDR or with your life in general? If you have no life direction or goals then the DPDR will take centre stage in your life. There are a lot of ways to respond in a healthy way, I'll make a vid about it soon.

@@DanielBakerDPDRexpert The fog is the DPDR, or just general brain fog. I have some life goals, but it seems impossible to pursue some of them right now. I'm trying to stay as engaged with life as I can though and keep living.
DPDR has definitely taken center stage. I'm constantly trying to make room for other things, but it is all very difficult.

I understand how you feel. It's a combinational approach - getting on with life and figuring out what's making you anxious at the same time.@@PurpleGlobe

My symptoms are awful lately. Memory issues, feeling like I don't understand/process what people in my life are saying or the plot of shows/films. It just no longer feels temporary, I feel like I'm becoming stupid over this condition 😭
Especially when two months ago I was in such a great place in my recovery!

I'm sorry you feel that way, it's the symptoms still doing their thing. Setbacks are common, just keep going and you will make it.

Anxiety and DPDR.....when I manage to feel a bit better this better feeling person I become then can't handle the thoughts of what I have been through dragging me back. This sounds mad but the more normal I become the more weird it all seems.

Yeah recovery can feel weird and challenging at times, just keep at it and you'll make it through.

Thank you for this, been dealing with DPDR for the past year and half and I felt like I was making great progress even with a some bad days mixed in there they were getting easier to deal with up until this past week I got super sick and it threw me off my routine I haven’t been able to go to the gym or work for the past week, super isolated and feel crappy and now I’m getting over my sickness but the DPDR and anxiety has hit me like a brick wall, it’s been very disheartening but I got to remember I’ve been through worse days

Please reach out to a crisis support centre if you feel like acting on any of your thoughts. Things can get better you need to be brave and do you best to move through it. I believe in you and know that it does get better.

I’ve listened to this however wondering what practical steps or exercises to do? This seems more on mindset than what to do?

    • @DanielBakerDPDRexpert
      @DanielBakerDPDRexpert  3 месяца назад

Mindset is something practical to do, but it depends on which areas you need to change, this I can only really know if I talk to you. You could perhaps begin by identifying what bad habits you have and working to change them.

Anxiety can affect sleep, best to see a doctor to rule out anything physical.
