I spent the last 5 hours researching cheap(ish) action cameras. This video brought that abysmal chore to an end. after hours of scrounging through review videos for Gopro, Akaso and a dozen other amazon brands. this is not only a great and comprehensive review with plenty of practical demonstrations (seriously more than half the "review" vids for these cameras are some dude in an office doing an unboxing and their only footage is at/around thier desk!). But it makes me want to know more about Mountain Grandpa, you seem to have a very interesting life. Just wanted to say thanks and hopefully the cam is as good as you say it is!
Great review... spent ages trawling through different models and manufacturers... this is the one... I do hope it performs well on the motorbike...!!! Thanks again for probably the most informative review I've seen on action cams...
@mattwuk - Yes, used for a solid 3 plus hrs on 720p 60fps last week. I'm definitely pleased I bought this. Used 2 batteries in that time. Mounted on a helmet chin mount... perfect for the motorbike journeys I have planned this year with the Motorbike group.
Thanks 🙏 for the review. Wondering if it is possible to connect 2 external wireless mics? If this one is not possible to connect with wireless maybe you know which one could connect with wireless 2mics?
The microphone input on the GA420 camera is a USB micro connection....so unless you can find a wireless receiver that utilizes the USB micro connection (I do not know of any)then you are out of lick.
Hello nice review, so good I purchased this today. I have several action camera's like DJI Action #1, Akaso EK7000, Yi Lite, DBPOWER N6 4K, and MGCOOL Explorer Pro. May as well mention GoPro Hero 3. New sub also.
Hi mate, good review. I've reviewed more than 50 action cameras on my channel, most of the SJ cams and Akaso's and lots of others, but not many the last couple of years. The video plays on RUclips at max 1080 so it's hard to judge 4K quality. Did you upload rendered at 4K? Just wondering why my PC is only showing max 1080? Also, the IMX 386 is a very old sensor and I can't find any info saying it's capable of native 4K 60 fps? Most of these cheapos are interpolated 4K? Any idea please? I've been offered one for review, free of course, and as I have a house full of cameras I'm wondering if it's worth having. PS Looks like you live in a fantastic location!
Thanks for checking out my review. No, I do not render in 4K. Unfortunately my main camera ( Canon camcorder) that I use for all the intros, extras, unboxing, product tour etc. only shoots in HD, so until I can afford a good 4K that’s the way I’ll be doing my reviews. And, yes… you are correct… most of these inexpensive action cameras are not capable of true 4K60. I believe it is all done through interpolation, hence my comments about ‘soft’ images recorded at that frame rate. There seems to be a lot of hype around 60fps. I usually tell people that unless you need slo-motion, there really is no need to shoot at 60. For general all-around videos 30 looks great.
Hey mate, thanks for the quick reply. I'm just sat here working on my latest two RUclips uploads! And yes, there has always been to much hype about mega pixels etc. I do some action sports, mostly flying, and good 4K with EIS I think is useful for that. I have a waterproof SJCam SJ8 that I was sent. £200+ at the time. Genuine 4K 30 fps, native waterproof but awful audio so SJCam didn't produce it and came out with the SJ9 instead. I have seen one rendered 4K GA920 video on here and it was very poor so I'm not saying yes to this one. I have reviewed a couple of Wolfangs amongst the 50 odd cameras I've reviewed and they were nothing special. I did a lot for Akaso. One review has 600K RUclips views. The Brave 6 was very good. 3 times they offered my a Brave 7 but in the end I never got it. Had enough of cheap cameras. Do quite a lot with RC planes now. One of those has 50K views but the whole RUclips thing is getting much harder! Where do you live? NZ? Canada. Looks fantastic. @@ExploreVideo-cr3eh
Hi do you have any videos on how to use this camera? I bought this, it works, but I can't connect the WiFi and the files are so big I cant do anything with them? Thanks
What do you want to do with the video files? Edit them or just view them? If you want to edit them on a computer, take the micro SD card out of the camera and insert it into a card reader on the computer to transfer files. If you just want to view the videos, connect the camera to a TV or monitor using an HDMI cable.
I can't seem to find it anywhere, can you use an wireless mic with it, instead of the included wired one? The videos I will be making will be difficult with a wired mic
You are correct, almost all action cameras produced use a ‘fixed focus” wide angle lens designed to get everything in focus from a few feet to infinity. Unfortunately, these lenses are not designed for extreme close-up work.
Yes, the 2.7K is very good indeed. Perhaps it looks better than 4K, due to the lighting. The 2.7K was recorded on a bright, cloudless, sunny day, whereas the 4K video was recorded under cloudy conditions. On a bright day the camera would automatically shoot at a smaller aperture which leads to a sharper image with greater depth-of-field. Just my guess.

Thanks for checking out my review video, and thanks for the kind words. Yes, this is one of the better cheap(ish) action cameras I have used.
What an excellent review, thanks for taking the time. Has made my research quick and easy
You are welcome. Glad it helped.
The best review of this camera I have seen - many thanks
Thank you!
3:36 was sooooo good!
Thank you!

Have you tried it yet Mark, what do you think?
Thanks, nice review I think I'm going to get me one this 👍🏿
You really can’t go wrong with this camera. At this price point it has lots of good features and performs very well.
This camera reminds me of the Akaso brave 7le, campark v40 and even similar to the Campark x40
Yes, there are definitely a lot of similarities between all those cameras.
Great review, very helpful. Thanks
Thanks for checking out my review video.

Ya, not a bad little camera considering it’s low price.
I know many of those places! Not far from me!
I think I will be ordering this camera.
It is a good performing camera. I’m very happy with mine.

Hello, thanks for the nice review, but dis yoy edited the video colors or it’s the original from the camera?
No color correction - all colors are original as recorded by the action camera.

Is this one better then EK7000?
@Decor I was going to get the EK7000 but this looks 100x better so ima buy this one

No, unless you can find a wireless mic receiver that plugs into a camera via USB mini connector. I do not know of any.
Via what port can you connect an external mic?
The sup[plied microphone uses the USB micro connection on the camera. See it in the video here 11:24-12:31.
@@ExploreVideo-cr3ehThanks, I must've missed it.
do it works without battery, but with power bank by USB?
Yes, it can be powered from a power bank.
i do not like it, fofus off when you are near to the camera.

It looked better at 2k rather than 4k. Why is that?

looks like an akaso brave 7le.....only rebranded.
It quite possibly is. There seems to be a lot of ‘rebranding’ with these Chinese made action cameras.
