I know I'm like two years late but from my (little) understanding you can turn it on in the Audacity setting. I'm not sure what it's called but I would look for something like duel channel audio.
Hey! Thanks for responding - I can't believe I never did! I certainly hope you find the answer at some point in the last two years, Auntie. If not, you don't want to use the figure 8 pattern - that's the bi-directional mode and is GREAT for in person interviews with each person on opposite sides of the mic, but it's still a mono signal. You want the symbol of two overlapping rings - that'll bring in a stereo recording, which Audacity should recognize and automatically create a stereo track.
Thank you so much for this! Your videos have been really helpful in getting me started! One question from me is, are the best compression settings for ASMR the ones you have used and that we can see in the video (aka: the default settings)? I will also watch the Audacity 201 video now 🙏🏼
There’s not really a one-size-fits-all for compression. I’d start with the default and see if you think it made your audio better or worse. Trust your gut reaction. If it’s worse, back off on the ration (try making it 2:1) or turn off the make up gain so it doesn’t get louder.
This is something I've never been able to do, actually. For some reason there aren't any apps (that I know of) that will import audio by itself to add to a video. I'd recommend getting the video file into your PC and editing it there. Are you on iPhone or Android?
