Yeah it is almost impossible, High res textures are not enough (and most of the time, they look bad on the old models), while remaking it on another engine requires them to copy prev physics completely, and that is... a fairytale honestly. Only lightning they can do imo

Most wanted has already been remastered for the 360 so I would get the HD version of it while its still decently priced but I would look out for Criterion’s next game as after Hot Pursuit it is evident that they are the only ones left that can make a competent respectable Need for Speed. Black Box are dead and I’m afraid even if they came back, after Undercover I don’t think they have what it takes anymore. Look for new experiences and be happy Most Wanted even happened as I’m even a shocked a game of that caliber was made within a year.

Recreating most wanted feels like such an ambitious project, especially with the game engines they currently have being way different to what it was years ago. Really hope ea will celebrate black box's titles someday by making a full on remake of most wanted or carbon.
The main thing I always wanted was the continuation of the story of “player” or a prequel when he was in the carbon world before most wanted. I want to know what happened after nfs carbon too. So why not a continuation?

This definitely seems like it was supposed to be a fun interview with a lot of insight into the development of MW2005, and instead Kuru and Lino just sat there and ranted about their feelings on fan communication and modern NFS to a group of people who 1. Aren't even involved with the franchise anymore, and 2. Weren't even in positions where stuff like that would've been their responsibility. NFS Most Wanted 2005, has been sold 18 millions times, and I have finished racing Razor since 2009 till date. As for the number of times, probably a 100 times. Guess what, I'm still playing it in 2023
NFS Most Wanted 05 is the FF7 of racing games. Even if you've never played it you know it just because of it's cultural significance and social osmosis.

Also they've sold just about the same amount of copies last I looked so it's fair enough if you think so, but I disagree personally. I know a good few people who know nothing about GT4, I know absolutely no one who doesn't know at least a few good tid bits from Most Wanted.

A remaster would be awesome. But a most wanted 2? Would be INCREDIBLY hard to fit into the series esp with "the driver" timeline, otherwise known as "Ryan cooper" due to prostreet putting a name to the driver. From underground to undercover is all linked, and the newer games even reference "him" payback with the old drift King, heat with the whole story between the R34, the 350z, the M3 GTR. There is so much, you'd have a hell of a time fitting it in. Not to mention, heat has been the closest NFS has come back to feeling like the old school games. I loved heat, since I could actually drive lines vs force slide everywhere
They should take a step further and take a look on the Extra Options and Redux v2.2 mods and further develop it until all that content is completed, then shoving it down a brand new graphics engine while keeping the physics and overall feeling. If they manage to add NFS World map and add NFS Carbon's story mode and content like autosculpt and vinyl editor to it, it would be the perfect NFS game.
