Today I am showing you how to make my Mama’s Southern Shrimp Salad. Here in the south, we love our seafood. It’s a very simple salad, the heavy lifting, of course is done by the shrimp and old bay seasoning. It has very few ingredients lemon zest, mayonnaise, celery, old bay and shrimp. I normally do add dill but for some reason I couldn’t get any at the store, so if you want, you can add a couple tablespoons of dill if you like.

My father was from.the Netherlands. My mother's family was in America since the 1700's. What a great amalgam for food and tradition. My mom cooked all those classic, what I have since discovered are "southern" dishes. Love your channel and your recipes. Thank you for sharing.

I feel bad for people who have to depend on buying imported frozen shrimp because they don’t have access to fresh American shrimp--especially fresh Gulf shrimp--the difference in taste is amazing, plus the shells and heads make fantastic stock for gumbo, étouffée, etc. On the Gulf Coast we are fortunate to have access to fresh seafood--including shrimp--year round, so we’re spoiled.
