Does anyone remember a couple of years ago when WG wrote an apology to the community for their scummy monetization methods and not listening to the player base? It seems nothing has changed, and I'll go further... it's gotten worse. I wish there was an alternative to WoWs because I can remember that apology, and I feel trolled right now! ☹️
Worth mentioning that Alabama isn't exactly an NC. It's a South Dakota class ship and has a slightly different armor scheme (even beyond the torpedo belt) than NC which makes it a little tankier in my experience.

@@Axel23410 Laughs in Petro. When I was grinding french line during Richelieu -> Alsace, random Petro showed up from behind island. My turrets were perma broken, I couldn't fire single shot for over 2 minutes, just until my turrets were destroyed. We had a lot of laugh. My was through tears though.
I bought my "traditional" 25 Mega BF containers and got 4 ships out of it. Alabama B, Iwami B, Asashio B and Cossack B. I already own Asashio and Cossack as well as JB and Alaska in black. So, I'm quite happy about my yield. Additionally I got 2 missions for 2500 dubs for Asashio and Cossack.
I got Brisbane B in a crate, last year I got Napoli B in a crate. Admittedly I did buy 10 premium crates, but I will take my luck. WG loves giving me TX black fleet ships.
Wasn't expecting Atlanta to be on the sale list due to it removed from the containers as reward along with some others but thankfully i waited patiently for a week to obtain her with a better discount and used my doubloons discount on Bayard before the event. Feeling happy to see her in S list not gonna lie :) I aggre with the list overall maybe a little bit too harsh on Brandenburg because i enjoy playing with her as a brawler in alternative game modes but again this is all your subjective opinions. Thanks for the fun conversation and listing these ships!
Well I finally bought something in Black Friday sale - Massachusetts and Atlanta. They won't make a successful player, but I always wanted Massachusetts, and Atlanta looks a fun challenge - perhaps being forced to up my game and really focus on map awareness and leading shots will improve me in time as a player overall.
Did the chain of bundles for the Munchen B and lucked out. Got the Brisbane B in a Black Friday container from the chain. Just a regular container not a premium one. Time to buy a lottery ticket. lol
30:15 lol My Kearsarge is secondary built, there is no "playing further" for me. Its surprisingly good up close. It does take a lot of damage to the flight deck though

Worth noting that Atago, as literally the oldest tier 8 premium in the game, is still so relevant today. It is also absolutely gorgeous, and the Black version is the best looking ship in the entire game in my opinion.
It's mad, I bought 10 containers for 10,600 doubs and got 2 tier 10 and a tier 8 worth 66k doubs (got brisbane/napoli/cossack) I most definitely used up all my remaining luck for this year XD
Jean Bart is one of my favourite ranked ships, steam away angled with 12km secondaries spraying while using turrets and duking.. I think I average about 80k damage in ranked with this ship, love it.
I have an OG Mass B. Most played ship. I hadn't played it in a while but took her out recently and it's as good as ever. Distinctly not power crept by the Iparanga It has the edge in survivability and main guns.
Purely the cost/fun factor massa is the only ship worth getting - atago and cossack are available in the normal store and jean bart and alaska are to expensive for what they offer.
Atlanta is my highest PR ship with over 100 battles. And I'm not even that good with it. It's just that so many people are terrible with it that it's server wide stats are super low. Lol
I have two accounts, and on both the Asashio has one of my highest win rates. It SEEMS like it should be limited, but 5.4 camo has team benefits, I give away a lot of smokes, and 20k torping of once spotted CV's is surprisingly rewarding. Vs DD's, late game, it is very slim with two of it's three turrets at the back. I see them 1st, steer directly away, and open up. Amazing how often you win that fight. Amazing how stubbornly they stick with it. Not easy to play well, and sometimes the matchmaker doesn't give you a lot to torp at, but that forces you (me, anyway) to play more team-oriented. Amazing how often that works out.
Question . . . Atlanta B or Flint. Now, they want a lot of coal for that Tier VII cruiser, but, Flint vs. Atlanta is a tough choice, and coal is a easily-collected resource. Your thoughts?! San Diego, Huron and Dupleix . . . they are really trying to sell containers. I have San Diego (okay) and Dupleix (one of my favorite Tier VIs). Huron is intriguing, not available, and I am a PNW guy who lives a hop and a skip from BC, so a soft spot for the Canadian ships. One additional note . . . There is only 1 Heavy Cruiser? Rude. I love 203mm gunned cruisers and I have ARP Maya (which is a rebadge Atago) . . . 8 battleships, 5 destroyers, 4 carriers, 4 large/battlecruisers, 4 light cruisers, 1 hybrid . . . and only 1 'True' CA. Sad.
Black's radar is nice and super powerful in ranked. That said, Gron DPM is just nutty and it's better as a general purpose DD even without the torps. They are both very strong.

Alabama, mass and indiana are not north carolinas. Theyre south dakotas. Theyre slower and better armored. Shorter than the carolinas but had more advanced electronics and radar.
I'm on the fence about Asashio. It's the only one that's interesting though. Because I already have the good BF ships like Massachusetts, Alaska, Cossack, etc.
Sims is a lot like Atago, and old but solid ship. One of my sleeper ship that I get crazy high PR in despite never feeling too overpowered. S tier at that price imo
I ended up just getting the sequential bundle. Not as good value as last year but still better than buying premium containers and I already have the rare ships anyway. I'm okay with what I got and Munchen is quite fine.
I did buy Tirpitz back when I had a birthday 100% return in doubloons. The extra I had left after buying Prinz Eugen was enough that during the Wisconsin dockyard event, I was able to get the final two stages without having to dip into my wallet to buy them. I got lucky last year with the free Santa containers at Christmas. Got something like 5 or 6 ships.
Good job letting people know which are "free" via ingame currency. It takes a while to earn, especially steel, but if you enjoy the game you will get them. Personally I won't be buying any of the ships directly, they are just too much in Canadian currency. I can buy whole games for the same price. I'll get as many free black-Friday crates as I possibly can and see what comes from them. I'll also most likely get the Dunkirk B since I have the original one, and I can get the battlepass items as well. I've been hearing from a lot of other players that they will be doing the same thing, just seeing what they get from containers. Or just buying containers instead.
Atago is definitely S tier. Was kinda bummed you guys moved the coal ships down for being coal ships. I was hoping for a more true ranking since people know they can get coal ships for free. Great list all the same.

My account is broken after the update. Got unlinked from Steam after it said I had accounts on two different servers with the same information. And there's no way to relink it; can't launch the game. Made a ticket but not hopeful that WG will fix it.
This makes me wonder just how many of the doubloons in the game are discounted in one form or another. Of course WG would never tell. I always assumed most (~90% - 95%) of the doubloons are purchased, but perhaps I am mistaken.
Ok, I can understand that the tier list is based on opinion rather than how strong each individual ship is. But I need a refresher on how the Atlanta can be more fun than the Alaska?
Putting the Atlanta in S tier seems crazy to me. The guns are one of the hardest ones to get on target imo, your constantly outranged and if your target makes only a slight course correction you'll miss the next 6 salvos which are already in the air. Also WG monetization s*cks ass :)
I only wanted Munchen didnt like it was only in progression... but when i did it i got Alabama in the crates and with the 2 missions in the end only cost be 5.600 dubs. my top 5 black ships i like to play imo 1 Munchen (my fav open water ship) 2 Atago (one of the best and my best results) 3 Asashio (first black ship i got randomly in a create 5 years ago and would not have gotten it by choice and i love it...torp only bbs but great conceal and guns are understated and will catch people off gaurd...but no knife fights) 4 Iwami (love this ship for some reason...not great 2nd and not great main guns but torps and i like the total package) 5 Loyang (love long range hydro dds) love Massachusetts but im not good at it :P
Saved dubs from birthday coupon to buy Alaska... RIP me. Bought 25 containers instead and got Jean Bart, Napoli, Black, Tirpitz, Pommern, and San Diego with the 50% coupon. Pretty happy.... will just get Agir instead of Alaska lol The San Diego was a good buy because I had that coupon anyway from gambling on prem crates so just used it to get another ship. The destruction effect is available in the Event Pass, so no point buying that.
Smolensk B is only available through an auction from tomorrow. And we all know that the ship will be pricey. So glad I got the original ship when it was first released.

Alaska is quite powerful, I once dev struck a full HP yorck 2 minutes into the game from around 17km away lmao.
Alaska is amazing. Sometimes I can citadel battleships too. Very consistent, hard hitting shells imo

As discussed the Cossack has the tech tree Lightning as a close enough analog, is it special enough for S Tier?
It’s my go to ship for ranked, it’s way better than the lightning because of the speed.

Gotta ask: between the Black and the Groningen, which is better in ranked, mainly used as a dd hunter but also in general terms?

Brisbane has more game impact if played well. Napoli is a great brawler but can't really contest caps/force DDs out of zones/do anything AA related.

I got Cossack. Loyang. Mass Chaklov and Atago. Atago and Mass are the only ones that I got and love.

Bought 25 containers instead and got Jean Bart, Napoli, Black, Tirpitz, Pommern, and San Diego with the 50% coupon. Pretty happy.... will just get Agir instead of Alaska lol
The San Diego was a good buy because I had that coupon anyway from gambling on prem crates so just used it to get another ship. The destruction effect is available in the Event Pass, so no point buying that.
