    In today's video, Steven addresses some user questions about how to get rid of noise in your guitar recordings. This will cover some basic steps starting with the moment after you finish your restring up to the point of mixing. You don't have to do all these things but they're all useful to achieving a better sounding mix.

      The things I did since I asked the question is started using a DI box in front of the interface, and bought a Furman power conditioner and plugged in all of my devices through it. It made a big difference. I also use a hardware ISP decimator before the DI box.

    Hey Steven! Great Video! Do you maybe also have some Tipps for the quad cortex regarding noise? When I use it as usb interface on my MacBook it can happen that logic all of a sudden detects a constant input signal, although my guitar is on 0. Otherwise the QC is a fantastic product. I guess its my army of plugged in powered devices on only 2 power outlets. I will definitely get a power conditioner. Do you also recommend a di box for the QC? My cable is only 9 m (spiral). Do you think changing the standard QC power cable to an upgrade would also have an impact? Do you think the MacBook (2020, Intel) sound card can be involved in the issue? Thx. Keep making your great videos. QC - > UIX is so easy it's a joy! 1.3 update is also great! Keep shaping the better wheel! Br, berry

    tried this plugin after using POD Farm 2 for years now
    and i dont understand why Fortin Nameless has a constant noise even without any signal incoming
    i'd understand if it would be hardware but its a program/plugin why does it have constant noise?
    i thought its my guitar and the EMG Pickups but its none of it, so i used some DI's from other tracks i've recorded
    which has basically no noise at all in POD Farm 2.
    Edit: sorry for my bad english

    partly right... an active DI Box *can* up your signal to Line level, but that's not the actual job of a DI Box. It's main job is to convert an unsymmetrical signal to a symmetric one, so that on longer cables noise can be eliminated by subtracting the difference between the symmetric signals. With a passive DI box though, signal level is still mic/instrument

I tried with a direct box but it cuts the tone a lot, I didn't like it

    I am a beginner in recording. What still seems difficult is how far to turn the volume knob on the guitar when recording. Is there the right ratio between the gain knob on your audio interface and the guitar knobs? Of course, I also know that I have to keep it from turning red.

    • @olivierkendra4362
      @olivierkendra4362 3 месяца назад

      It kind of depends what music you're looking to make but in general you can't go wrong with turning your guitar to 10 and then adjusting your interface so that it doesn't peak into the red. If the type of music you're making requires you to change volume on the fly I'd suggest leaving your guitar around 8 so you have the room to increase it if need be
