    I wish you had shown screwing in the clamp ring to the bunk window. A lot of people seem to have issues with this on the CR Lawrence windows due to them not being pre-drilled. I would like to have seen how you handled that. Can you explain what you did for this step?

    • @biglogan3690
      @biglogan3690  3 года назад +1

      Correct, The exterior portion of the clamp ring is not pre-drilled and the interior clamp ring is to locate your screw pattern around the window. Hardware provided by CR is sheet metal screws. The exterior ring is a bent extrusion with a groove that aligns with the screw pattern and acts as a “starter” for the sheet metal screw to self Tap into. Not too bad to but definitely need a helper
      On the outside pushing the frame in. If you didn’t have a second hand. This would be very hard.

    • @libertybell144
      @libertybell144 3 года назад +1

      @@biglogan3690 Thanks! I have seen some people pre-drill the holes and others just seem to go for it. I am afraid I might not have the physical strength to push a screw through if I don't pre-drill. But I am also afraid of pre-drilling - lol. Just working on mustering the courage to tackle this project next!

    Be careful shutting the side door with all the windows closed while the adhesive is still curing. It could blow it right out if you don't leave another door or window open to relieve the sudden pressure of closing the big slider door.

  • @ritcheymt

    Great video, @biglogan3690, but I wish you'd done an "after" shot from the inside because from what I can tell, the inside might not look too great due to the fact that 1) you used white paint applied kinda sloppily on the cut edge of the opening and 2) I saw no evidence that the the cut opening on the interior has any kind of trim, so the raw edge of the cut, however neatly filed, would become the inside surface of the installation. So the window looks very professional and clean from the outside, but seems like it'd look kinda ghetto from the inside, right?

  • @carolcrosby2177
    @carolcrosby2177 2 года назад +1

    I see you put the weld on the window instead of on the metal of the van. You're the first one I've seen do it this way. Wondering if it makes a difference or not? Also saw many folks say to get a 26:1 calking gun, the weld is super hard to get out.

  • @angelinaarts_
    @angelinaarts_ 2 года назад +1

    Can you share how the inside of the bonded window turned out inside the van? I see it's recommended to put a clean edging on it, or i suppose you frame it out with wood. Also I'm getting a similar window to install on the Driver's side middle panel (will be only window on that side of 3500 ext). Can it be placed solo like this?...It will look either really sleek or odd on its own :D

  • @BossTalkProductions

    is that 3m caulk permeant?? has it held up. I am looking into getting my self a dodge promaster 2500 159' wheel base. your videos are great and very detailed, really helps me understand everything.

    • @biglogan3690

      The 3M window weld is identical to OEM bonding urethane that are used on most window installations on the assembly line. It is SUPER TOUGH, and also really nasty if you get on your hands (spoken from experience before this van build lol) Good Luck and thanks for the great feedback Ceasar!

    Did you make your template by tracing the inside or outside of the ring clamp?

    • @biglogan3690
      @biglogan3690  3 года назад

      Its actually NEITHER. Unfortunate as it is, CRL does not provide a template. You need to exceed the exterior ring dimensions by roughly 1/8" to 1/4" total across top and bottom axis' and continue this offset through the rounded edges. Good Luck!

    Hey so I’ve heard people putting in max air vent up top have one chance to cut correctly, and if they screw it’s up it’s not really fixable. I’m looking at a van tomorrow snd wondered how can I tell. Just see if it leaks?

    • @biglogan3690
      @biglogan3690  10 месяцев назад

      That’s really all you can do, apart from removing the interior trim ring (4 Phillips head screws) and seeing up the sheet metal (if possible. You can seal these from the top and bottom if need be so not too bad…

    How far did you measure down from the ridge to the top of the window cut out on the outside? We have spray foam on the inside so measuring and marking inside is tough.

    Does anyone know if my 2005 Econoline Van windows can be reused in a Transit Cargo Van. I'm talking about the two windows on the drivers side. The one right behind the driver the opens from the bottom and the longer fixed closed window on the drivers side also the long side window on the passenger side.
