This movie was always bittersweet for me. After some amazing back and forth battles earlier on we get these one sided fights at the end. This was insanely common in 90s action anime. It probably wouldn't have bothered me if it wasn't such a common and heavy handed cliche. This, the fatal fury movie, demon city shinjuku. But it was the first broly movie were I got so sick of the troupe it killed the whole movie for me. Obviously it's a plot device. We all know why it's happening. Build up the villain, build up the tension. But it's too obvious. Too in your face. The heroes look like they aren't just having trouble but are helpless punching bags. That is until the uno reverse card comes out and the comeback happens. And the comeback is usually really fast and unsatisfying after the bad guy beat down went on for 5 to 10 minutes.
This movie is a classic. It was (and probably still is) my favorite anime. The Vega/Chun-Li fight is a classic haha. Chun-Li is so f-ing hot, and Vega so sadistic. Great movie.
Originally, the black boxer is supposed to be M.Bison. After M.Tyson. At 5:13, you can hear him referring to himself as "Vega" in japanese. They changed the names around in US to avoid trademark issue with Mike Tyson.
Notice how Violent Ken executed a perfect Zankuu Hadoken at 2:42 (Gouki/Akuma's exclusive move aerial projectile). Bison/Vega essentially awakened an artificially enhanced version of the Satsui no Hado through his Psycho Power buff - Satsui no Psycho.
Rene Ramirez look you old Jabronies. All I’m saying is, this movie for me and obviously many others is what put street fighter on a higher level then which it was at. The movie is still one of my favorite anime movies. I saw it when I was a child and the lore portrayed gave more weight to the characters back stories. So many iconic moments with ryu and sagat, Vega and chun li. Man and the soundtrack, I found “Alice and Chains” because of this movie. So it played a big role in me growing up. If you were growing up playing it in arcades good on u, but I grew up with this and the Van Dam version. Sooo take your pick?
@@skyural I grew up playing it in the arcade and the snes, I only saw this movie because my friend had it and the van damme version would come out on tv in the 1990s, but only because this movie is what got you into the street fighter lore or whatever doesn't mean that what you said is true this movie isn't what made SF cool my dude it's what got you into it but street fighter was already cool before it was made so yeah you're not the whole world buddy so take it easy or do you want to smell what's cookin'
Rene Ramirez yea see you’re stuck you can’t seem to comprehend that for someone my age who didn’t have the luxury of having it in arcades growing up. The movie is what gave it life for me as well as others. You’re so offended over something that doesn’t belong to you. You had your experience and I’m expressing mine. Who the hell are you to tell me I’m wrong I’m not. If you were going to the arcades in the early 90s with a pocket full of quarters, cool man I dig it. But the arcade scene was dead by my time, that wasn’t my reality. Street fighter was cool, it can be a bit cheesy. but personally from seeing this movie from a young age, I doubt I would had stuck with it as long as I did.
You caught on to that too huh? I remember when that game first came out and i got to that scene while i was playing- it immediately reminded me of this scene of ryu and violent ken. Nice to know there were others who were reminded of it too. 😃😃😃👍
God, I love Street Fighter so much. Unlike most trendy fighting anime, SF has an abundance of characters everyone can relate to regardless of gender or nationality. Hell, they are so great...they've been teamed up with Marvel.
Even after all these times, this is still the best Street Fighter Anime. Bison is so strong.. It is like he has cheat code on. lol. What happen to Balrog's eye here? :p
Yea I don't get why they couldn't recapture the magic they had with SFII. Alpha was still not bad, it had a nice art style but I think the lack of a recognizable villain (outside maybe Akuma) really hurt it and then it was all downhill from there. That last one, for Super Street Fighter IV with Juri, wasn't too bad though. Definitely a step up from SFA: Generations and SF4: The Ties That Bind in both action and art style. The only other thing I can really think of to rival the SF2 movie is Assassin's Fist, and the fact that it is a live action movie just makes that all the more impressive
his eyes were supposed to look menacing, but they failed and give him crazy eyes, still he looks very menacing and wild as the villain he is supposed to be.Remember those were the times before wokeness and pc fanatics .babys.also handmade animation action movies always had some mistakes, nothing too important as long as the most relevant scenes were okey nobody complain.

2:56 I always wondered why Ken ran with his arm out if he was going to kick him? I thought he was going to clothesline Ryu. Was that some sort of faint move? 4:20 I always laughed at how Ken Hulk jumped on that upper level to be standing there looking at Ryu when he ran around to that side. 7:54 Okay, so Bison's arms were already extended when he put them up... Rocket Punch? And how did Ryu get hit by such a slow move? What happened to that speed he displayed while fighting Fei Long? 8:32 What was Ryu doing? Jumping at him to thump bodies but it failed because of Bison's power... Last thing, when Ken was meditating or whatever that was, what was he chanting? Was it a code like in the American version or something? Why did he say Ryu at the end? The subtitles didn't cover what the master had said. In the English one, Gouken said "Ken, what do you see beyond your fists? Ken awaken"! and Ken responded "My fate". This anime is still as exciting to watch as it was when I was younger.

This was highly underrated... Ken and Ryu, kind of reminded me of Goku and Vegta, this will always be epic
Nah, I'd say Goku and Krillin.
Goku and Vegeta is more like Ryu and Sagat.
Ken: "VEGA!!" (subtitle: "BISON!!") Lol
What did you expect? He's called Vega in Japan, while he's called Bison outside from Japan.
This is my childhood growing up. I love the part when ken is mediating to gain his strength back. # never give up
I still remember back when I was a teen and found a place to get all my Anime, This movie was one of them back in the 90s. I like how well they captured how close Ken and Ryu are. They are like brothers. Ryu refused to fight Ken under Bison's control.
The movie that introduced me to bands like Alice in chains,Korn & silverchair.
A masterpiece.
This scene just isn't the same without the American dubbed soundtrack! The music isn't exciting at all in the original.
Don't forget KMFMD

This doesn't even look like a 1994 movie. The animation is topnotch.
Voice acting, Classic character design, Combat animations 👌good ol days
It's funny how bison says "let's see how good a Martial artists you are" then uses psycho power

Me, an intellectual: Violent Ken, please!
Forget the fights, that’s soundtrack during Ken’s beatdown is friggin epic.
Perfect mastery in animation, music, background and storytelling.
I love how realistic the fighting is portrayed
This is Violent Ken, where he was brainwashed by Bison. His eyes are red in This one, but in SNK Vs Capcom is Purple including his Hadouken.
In this game is for Orochi Power
Because it was done in a SNK STYLE
All they did was reuse their assets.
Like if superman was drawn dbz style

This movie is so good, its ALMOST as good as the Van damme one
I remember seeing this movie as a kid back in 1995 and it was my favorite. ❤
30 years later this still hits
This movie is a classic. It was (and probably still is) my favorite anime. The Vega/Chun-Li fight is a classic haha. Chun-Li is so f-ing hot, and Vega so sadistic. Great movie.
Whats the name of the movie??
Literally my fav scene double stamp through the frickin wall baby. Ps haf
Dude the name is in the title.....
Vega is fuckin hot
I had this on VHS.....use to watch it everyday!!! mimic all the fights even the final battle with Vega.....GOOD TIMES!!!
The music...the animation...the flashbacks..the evil of byson and raw power of ken and ryu...this was anime at its peak...🔥🔥🔥
0:19 M. Bison sounded like he was trying to sell a life insurance to Guile, lol....
Juegos Clasicos Forever lol
9:04 when I first saw this back during VHS, it felt like I was feeling Ken's pain as well. What a successful expression made by the animators!
I've watched this movie multiple times when I was a kid. This video game and movie inspired me to practice martial arts.
Originally, the black boxer is supposed to be M.Bison. After M.Tyson. At 5:13, you can hear him referring to himself as "Vega" in japanese. They changed the names around in US to avoid trademark issue with Mike Tyson.
Oh, I didn't know that. Thanks, dude
Vega (Japan) = M.Bison (US)
Balrog (Japan) = Vega (US)
M.Bison (Japan) = Balrog (US)
yeap you know it.....
This movie made street fighter cool
This movie was made because street fighter was already cool before it came out
Rene Ramirez look you old Jabronies.
@@skyural pick of what? Even the van damme version was made because of how popular the game was, I was a child when I first saw those movies as well
@@skyural I grew up playing it in the arcade and the snes, I only saw this movie because my friend had it and the van damme version would come out on tv in the 1990s, but only because this movie is what got you into the street fighter lore or whatever doesn't mean that what you said is true this movie isn't what made SF cool my dude it's what got you into it but street fighter was already cool before it was made so yeah you're not the whole world buddy so take it easy or do you want to smell what's cookin'
What I hate
Is that this never continued
So foolish
How much lore and content
Street fighter has
Hope one day they continue this

Bring this anime style back.
Bring the cussing back
It's too difficult to draw so much. You should sometimes think about the creators too.
The music is so beautiful
Damn, brings back so many memories! have not watched this movie in a decade.
Ryu:ken snap out it
Wake up ken
Ken its me
Chris from re5:snap out of it jill
Jill stop this
Leon.. to Ada Wong.. on RE2 inside the train "snap outta it!"
You caught on to that too huh? I remember when that game first came out and i got to that scene while i was playing- it immediately reminded me of this scene of ryu and violent ken. Nice to know there were others who were reminded of it too. 😃😃😃👍
Jill! It's what you see past the end of your fist!
What I thought.
Would be even more fitting with Cammy.
I shot Jill she kept hitting me after I said stop 🤷♂️

God, I love Street Fighter so much. Unlike most trendy fighting anime, SF has an abundance of characters everyone can relate to regardless of gender or nationality. Hell, they are so great...they've been teamed up with Marvel.

E. Honda went OHHH UTUTUTUTUTUTUTUTUTU

Its just to make him look like an insane boxer.
they wanted to make him look vicious and menacing but they failed a bit.
Best SFII movie ever.
Violent ken vs Ryu awesome 👍💯💪 this is truly a classic SFmovie great memories 🙋
Still the most epic animated martial arts fight scene.
This and Street Fighter II V are my favorites. 👍
Why does Balrog look so damn terrible? The dudes eyes are doing their own thing( ̄. ̄)
That's what he looks like, It's his design. I kinda like it, he's done so much to train his hands his looks have suffered.
They did make him out to look rough around the edges but not all up there.More bron then brain with the heavyweight look.
Some Dude With a Scarf That doesn’t even make sense.
The Japanese are racist. You didn't know that?
his eyes were supposed to look menacing, but they failed and give him crazy eyes, still he looks very menacing and wild as the villain he is supposed to be.Remember those were the times before wokeness and pc fanatics .babys.also handmade animation action movies always had some mistakes, nothing too important as long as the most relevant scenes were okey nobody complain.
When i first rent this movie at a rental video store back in 1995, i would watch it in the morming EVERY SINGLE DAY 😅😅😅 Such a great animation! Good times ❤️❤️❤️
After 30 years this still holds up and nothing comes even close.
I miss this anime on 90s is so good street fighter
Anyone else notice that Guile never lands a hit in the entirety of this film?
Such a poke in the eye 😂
because he is not van damme
How i miss these hand drawn masterpieces, every frame is art.
love the soundtracks
