Tsunoda's obvious lack of ANY hint of "media training" or social awareness was easily the most entertaining thing about season 4. BTW, has anyone else noticed that Lando Norris' head seems 3x too big for his body?
I liked how Netflix managed to show the Mazepins true nature on the Haas focused episode. They looked like proper bullies (or worse)
Well to be fair every pay driver is likely similar to that
@@multiks2200 I'm certain lance or latifi isn't like that
@@user-vm9nx9xo1h lance at williams, it was shown in dts as well
Mmm if I see how thy lies about Max I don’t take Netflix seriously
No one else in F1 has likely ever been as bad as Mazepin.
My favourite line was when Yuki was getting ready for a massage, then says “But I will go first poo” 😂
Yuki's episode was a treat
Yuki is such a character!
I too, laughed at the Sochi line about beating Mick. I didn't remember Latifi DNFing as well. Sorry, in my book you can't beat someone who didn't finish the race. Of course, this is the guy who finished 21st in a 20 man grid.
Excellent editing by Netflix. Showed the whiny spoiled child that he is. My disappointment was not enough Mick.
21st because kubica, with one hand, raced 2 weekends, beat mazesbin
Worst season by far, those scenes of Russell in London were excruciating, was like watching an episode of Made in Chelsea.
IDK but i missed this
Agreed. No idea what Netflix was doing there except stroking Russell's gigantic ego.
Showing how slimey the Mazepins are was such a great choice by Netflix lmao
I bet you didn't understand why Papa Mazepin was a bit upset, right. He wouldn't be mad if his boy didn't have any complaint that time. In spite of the team's goal to put all the resources the 22 cars. They shoulf have assured that 2021 car should at least working well & made the drivers happy at least.
@@dayleashleynolasco5765 I have no sympathy for a pay driver whose daddy sucks up to a dictator. Nikita is a bad driver, his dad thought HAAS were intentionally making Nikita look bad (they weren't, they didn't need to) and I am so glad to see a REAL driver like KMag back in the seat.
@@elaknessery Just put it this way, without the politics or any s*** stuff related to Russia. What if Nikita's dad is Michael Schumacher & obviously he isn't from Russia. Yet, the situation is the same. Do you think it isn't reasonable to be upset if they couldn't even give his son a decent car at least to reciprocate the huge financial help he has promised to the team. Despite of the plans they have talked before this agreement has been signed. In reality even you would be upset if it would happen that your son is complaining about something like that. If you would deny it I'm sure you are hypocrite.
@@elaknessery What do you call the guy who sucks up to the guy sucking up to the dictator?
@@dayleashleynolasco5765 exactly it’s just trendy to bash all Russians right now. We all know the F1 has been the center for shady money as long as it’s been around, but some people still think their selective outrage has an impact
Yuki's parts were the best of this fourth season.
I really liked how they exposed the mazespins and showed the fans who they really are.
They show the narrative they want to show... They basically put red bull and max as the villains even in silverstone...
If I hadn't seen the whole F1 season myself and only watched DTS4, I would probably conclude that Mercedes/Hamilton were victims and Red Bull/Verstappen were Villains.
Which is entirely the opposite of what really happened
With verstappen choosing not to appear in Netflix (which is an honourable decision) the only thing they can really do ‘narrative’ wise is to have him as the kinda faceless villain of the season, which is a shame but, it’s how it makes a coherent story in the edit
@@ohno9819 yep, thats what i thought aswell. Having only horner tell red bulls side of the story really make them look like villains.
At the end, it looks like Toto is gonna be the villain next season and this season is like his origin story.
This season really gave a good inside in some of the smaller teams, which was great to watch. Still I think they didn't cover the battle between Lewis and Max very well. The narrative was mostly from the perspective of the whole Merc team versus Horner and both Max and Checo didn't really appear much for narrative. At some point it fell back to the "I'm a victim" Hamilton stuff, backed up by Will Buxton saying Hamilton never does something wrong. Bit of a shame really, because for new F1 viewers coming from DTS it sets up this whole idea that Lewis is a saint and Max some maniac. DTS is of course based on sensation, but it was a bit much of the same
Exactly!
I think it went that way was because they had very little to go with on Max as he declined to participate in their interviews. So it's kinda forced Netflix's hand to be more Merc heavy since they were participating and Max specifically wasn't
@@TheTyJager yes I know, he refused previous seasons too, so about that I am not surprised. But they could've at least used others to compensate. Now it seemed like everyone thought max was insane and poor Lewis got attacked.
@@thatrustyone1943 That's the downside of not having your side, or in this case Max's, by not participating. Now if he had his view expressed maybe it would come out different. Now they tried compensating using Horner but that was never going to be enough unfortunately
@@PeeWan thats still no excuse to tell a one sided story. Its exactly why max didnt want to work with dts anymore, they dont tell a straight story, they manipulate everything to fit their narrative. Expect the least from dts, not max.
Mazepin only beat Latifi and Mick. I thought he atleast finished P18 ahead of Latifi. but then i saw that even Latiifi DNFed. Then that unlapped thing. Oh my god, at the last Mazepin finished 2 laps down. Someone would think atleast he finished in top 10 after a bad start to the season.
“For a guy who walks around like a newborn giraffe”
What lol that’s just emotional damage
It was so disappointed, looks like Mercedes paid for this season. Checo just didn't exist. Totto was the star and Mercedes was the victim.
Tbf Horner doesn’t help himself by presenting himself in such an obnoxious self loving and disrespectful manner, although it is just one guy it sort of looks bad for the whole team. And I thought Netflix were alright in the Max/Hamilton drama, given that Max declined to be in it I thought it was gonna be very one sided, but actually both teams looked kinda bad and sorta evil in this. Merc said on camera that this is what Verstappen deserves for never backing out after Silverstone, which is such a horrible thing to say given he was even briefly at the hospital, and Horner basically accused Hamilton of intentionally almost killing a rival at high speed and that he would do anything to win, which is a terrible accusation too. Both teams looked kinda bad in this imo
they made mazepin unlapping himself very dramatic
which is rly good!
and guenther is the official super star of the series
How can you go past Toto looking like a Bond villain at the end of the last episode. It's the only time he's not wearing team kit. He just needs the cat and the laugh at the very end
**swivels around**
DTS Season 4 could have shown Alonso v Ham fight in Hungary in an episode. Add a recap of their history too.
unfortunately they make look ocon like he did all the work is shameful
They didn't show that amazing scene neither of any of the fights between checo a hamilton...
this series was my favourite as it gave us even more insight into the sport and like the 2021 season itself it was by far the best series yet but it is safe to say that Guenther Steiner is the star of Drive to Survive
So the producers of Drive to Survive lied that they didn't have any footage of Russell during his first Mercedes drive in Sakhir 2020 during the third season, where in fact they did for this season. They have also managed to make Lewis the victim of this season, whereas it is not the case. They were no scenes of Lewis badmouthing his team during bad races, nor the times Mercedes have mistreated Valtteri while they have managed Norris' badmouthing towards Ricciardo a major scene. I can now understand why Max backed out in filming. Were the producers of Drive to Survive protecting Lewis and Mercedes's image for this entire series?
of course they have hours extended material. its very sad the DTS producers by taking content and editing to a point to make it more shitty and out of context for the real F1 viewers . so much pontencial for the 2021 season and turn it into a turd
@@rafa787 I agree, 100%
There were many fantastic points missing from drive to survive, but what I missed the most was that there wasn't anything about Kimi even tho he was retiring. I don't remember seeing even climpse of him in the show not to mention having some one liner even at the end of the season.
Probably didn't want them doing anything about him, there was a clip of him saying he doesn't really like interviews and that was that.
i think it was a big improvement towards S3 overall but missing is alfa romeo
only thing is the radio message is repeating for a small bits
They gave Nakita a new chassis and the binned it up.
1:36 You've got red on you.
I enjoyed the last 2 episodes which has the Max V Lewis rivalry
Imo it was pretry one sided, and even then they didnt show brazil even
Thanks to 2021 season.
Overall, I liked this season.
This was my first season with DTS after watching the F1 season as a whole and it was extremely satisfying.
Now, is the representation of the races perfect? No. But they do their best with the time and showcase what is needed. I think the key use of DTS is using to for showcasing behind the scenes type content along with these deeper interviews.
It comes as a great content piece for F1 fans who watched the races in full all season. You know how the races turned out and all the on-track drama. DTS gives you what happened behind the scenes and deeper thoughts from drivers, principles and media.
Overall, I think F1 fans need to realign their expectations of what Drive to Survive is supposed to be and they'll come out much happier in the end. (Also need to realize the limitations Netflix obviously had with some teams and drivers not participating in their interviews and content. IE, Max)
Funny you liked this season, while its an utter Mercedes promotional campaign. They did their best to edit the season in such a way, it made Red Bull look like villains and Mercedes as victims. I truly support drivers and teams, who are not willing to participate.
@@rockomax4284 I think Netflix did that to spite Max for not participating :D
They really wanted us to feel bad for poor old Mercedes, which Christian is apparently bullying on and off-track
@@rockomax4284 calm down lol
Only a casual would like this season. I mean yeah it was a good watch, but they didn’t cover nearly ANY of the stuff I was hoping for. Happy to see Yuki tho that part was welcomed
@@rockomax4284 I didn't see that. Instead I saw Netflix using what it had which was access to Mercedes and limited access to Red Bull. That's great naturally going to show some bias but Netflix tried its best with what they have. I also say this coming as a neutral party as a McLaren fan.
I liked when they talked about WRC
I’ve just finished watching the whole season 4.
Last episode still to watch but overall i enjoyed it, could it have been better, more unseen footage? Yes. The Mazepins come out of it looking bad but i dont think they will even realise or care. The show seems to have become much more like a docu-drama imho. Time for a new iteration of it for S5
Toto wolf recation at ending of 10 episode 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Drive to Survive was a complete Mercedes Documentary. So bad Season 4
Nahh more like Horner's documentary
Horner just embarrassed RB
best part was that lullu fucked up so many times
The best moment? Christian Horner. He stepped up to interview protecting and supporting Max as he did not want to participate. Christian opened his heart with honesty and this meant he controlled and drove the narrative, not Netflix. This is leadership giving insight into F1 in 21 whilst having his drivers back. And Geri participated too. Love them for this. Close second, Zak addressing the healthy competition between Daniel and Lando. go you good things, race hard and happy in 22.
I need Tsunoda to Survive. #TTS lol
I really love Gunther I feel so bad for haas I want them to do good
Next season Toto will be the villain and this season is like his origin story.
Netflix might as well be Haas’ title sponsor
Light hearted justification for Mazepin remove from F1....
They left out so many great parts of the 2021 season, and then got so many facts wrong.
I was left thinking the people who edited the episodes didn't even watch the 2021 season...
Drive to survive is the epitome of dumbing down to the lowest common denominator... soap opera on wheels... the fact the team principles appear more than the drivers shows the pathetic nature of this program and those who like it... F1 is ALSO about these amazing cars and tracks and genius engineers .. in Netflix NOTHING about that... there is plenty of appeal in those things which are part of the essence of F1... the amount of sauce and fakery will diminish that essence and I'm afraid my tarnish it for good.. the fact that people are speculating that Massi took that decision because of Netflix tells you everything.. by the way, I tip my hat to Max for not taking part which shows that he's a pure racer and cares integrity rather than his brand
Is aldas wearing a sammit shirt
Last year s3 was so bad, s4 was enjoyable, its basically give a fun dramatization of the race season overall, and last ep does capture the feeling of the last race quite well
Enjoyable how??
@@Justme94 how is it not?
Does anyone know who the other commentator is in the show other than crofty?
Alex Jacques and Jack Nicholls!
@@LiveFastYT ah thanks! Sometimes there was so much commentary that fit perfectly with the storylines that I thought Netflix paid some guy to read some lines hahaha
@@lukebraswell7290 They do. Whilst Alex Jacques does the F1TV commentary and Jack Nicholls on 5Live, Nicholls and Jacques also do additional VO for the show.
@@lukebraswell7290 the commentary is completely fake.
I liked seeing some of the content we didn't get to see. Like finding out when toto decided who'd get that Merc seat and then touching on Landon and Daniel not getting on that well at the start of the season. But I just feel like it'd be confusing for someone who didn't watch last season. I mean for fucks sake they only started talking about Hungary at like episode 7 or 8. It made absolutely no sense chronologically. Like there was no reason to have the same amount of episodes focusing on Monaco as the title fight towards the end
I felt the same about the ordering, but really they are trying to cover individual storylines instead of the story of the season, which means they will have to revisit races quite often and jump around the shop. Covering it in chronological order doesnt really add anything to the experience - you may as well just watch all of the race highlights in a row and call it a day
@@420fedoras I guess that's true but I don't know it just felt more confusing and sloppy. I got into f1 with DTS right after season 2 released and was going to watch the race in Australia but we all know how that went, I ended up not being able to watch races until this last season so I watched season 3 of DTS also without watching all the races and it felt like it made more sense. So I guess it could be that but I feel like it'd be the opposite
Seing that makes me even happier that Mazepin got fired! Pure karma!
Yeah, especially after seeing his dad randomly wearing the ribbons of saint George that is a russian military symbol around the garage. Also, you can see that Nikitas helmet had same symbolics during the year. No wonder that in todays context Haas wants nothing to do with them
where was baku...brazil....wtf???
Where was Mexico?! Saying "Checo is a legend" is one thing, but they could at least show his home podium.
@@MissAmyNic remember he is mexican not European. They just had to redeem his story line last season because he was going to red bull ...
Zak is a lot of things. A hockey player is not one.
Well, he's a billionaire, so there's that.
Season 4 was definitely worst for me. Only thing I like was Yuki's talk with his British friend.
Yet in Russia he still finishes last - M
Worst dts season so far
MazSpins is just not at F1 Level,
Great year of Gasly but....
S3 was the best S4 is on a meh side.
Please react in George russell pls
I hate it this season was great and they make it a British based serie so sad
DTS S3 was very disappointing IMO, but I think season 4 delivered. One of the stronger seasons of the show
yupp, season 4 is the 2nd best season imo, nothing can't top season 1 atm though
Szn 3 was so trash
Lucas Ward Sure its "good", if you don't watch the races and have zero idea what happened in the 2021 season. They managed to miss a lot of the good fights on track not to mention a lot of the highlights for race fans.
For me the 4th is the worst so far specially after the amazing season we had. If u are British u probably enjoy it. Overall 2 mclaren episodes 2 Russell / williams, and of course hamilton and Mercedes where the victims and red bull the villians...
Thanks to Leiwis and Max rivalry.
DTS/Netflix is pure cancer.
what a waste potential for the F1 2021 season. DTS is the WWE on wheels unfortunately you get better F1 Full season recaps content on youtube than DTS.
The ending was about how I expected. Hollywood sob story for Lewis Hamilton :( The last episode intentionally sides with Hamilton. Paints him as a sad, pitiful (millionaire) victim.. Leaves out his teams blunder at not pitting for new tires and the lenient penalties he received in the race. PC documentary. It's racing. Mercedes caused Hamilton to lose. He could have pitted like everyoneelse. .. Boo hoo. Dont worry.. He's still filthy rich and out there lecturing us all about how much better he is than everyone else.
What wrong with that😎😎
Well at least they made it clear that cars ARE supposed to lap themselves under the safety car.
Hey, don't forget he's an environmentalist as well. 😏
@@davidlynch9049 So much more whilst burning diesel on his yacht :)
Worst season of DTS
Worse season so far after all the amazing content they had... What a disappointment..
Maybe only if u are British u might like this season more..
The formula for this show is getting boring. I think toto day drinks
The worst season of Netflix's shittest show.
Considering these form part of your best moments video shows how boring it was this year
So im guessing you didnt watch the season.
@@erikcarrillo7378 no I meant the show...
Which I just binged
Like normally the highlights feel more spread out
This year mainly Haas and Guenther
