    Nice work and excellent explanations. QUESTION- You applied the first structural wire on TOP of the branch before dividing it to two branches rather than hiding it UNDERNEATH to have less wire visible, as most people do. Is there a reason you have for doing it that way?

    • @BonsaiHarmony
      @BonsaiHarmony  2 года назад +2

      Hey that's a great question! Wire can be wrapped whichever way is necessary for moving the branches. In this case, I wanted the branches spread out. Thusly with starting from above, the left branch is wrapped counter clockwise and pulled to the left, then the right branch is wrapped clock wise and bent to the right. It's not an absolute rule but it's helpful for setting branchings. When done this way the wire tightens as it is bent in the desired direction. Only if we were wiring for a show would we be worried about hiding wire.

      Best times to wire are fall and winter, but also mid summer when you decandle is good as well for developing good structure. Check with people in your area for best timing on things like decandling and other periodic maintenance.

    Great explanation on branch structure. Do the same pruning and wiring principles apply to junipers?

    • @BonsaiHarmony
      @BonsaiHarmony  2 года назад

      Many of the principles can be applied to junipers but I find there is a little more flexibility in juniper pads as there is more/finer branching typically. But creating clean juniper pads requires a bit more layering and depth to be convincing. I'll make a video covering that in the appropriate season 🙂
