    21:00 you could use a tip I think you gave once of using the mesh you put on drainage holes between the wire and branch to reduce the groove caused by the wire imprint

    Sir I'm from the Philippines. May I ask if bonsai wire cutters cuts the wire cleanly than ordinary pliers? Thank you

    • @andrewdobosz3682
      @andrewdobosz3682 6 месяцев назад

      Yes it's a much easier and cleaner cut with bonsai wire cutters, but any wire cutters will work too.

      @@andrewdobosz3682 thank you so much for your reply sir. I really appreciate it. I haven't use a bonsai wire cutter that's why I don't know the difference when ordinary wire cutter are used. The cut of ordinary wire cutter from hardware are too sharp that often cuts my skin. I hope you can make video of a close up cut using genuine bonsai wire cutter before I buy one

      Has to be careful when you use handtool.
      As Andrew said, any quality cutting tool would do the job nicely.
      Not all bonsai tools are good either.

    thank you for the video, the Nishikimatsu have the tendency to die back a lot when it comes to perform mekiri..maybe the reason why they are less popular in Japan nowadays..?

    I am very happy to report that my mugo pine air layer actually worked. Was able to cut off and put in a regular nursery pot yesterday. Would the same techniques apply for pruning the needles? Also I've used rubber coated wire in the past didn't have much holding power but it never bit into the bark. Was really useful on young trees or even seedlings or real thin branches. Thank you Mr. Chang

      I have no Mugo...so no first hand knowledge but see no reason why not work in terms of reducing needle length.
      Please try and let us know.,
      I am sure a lot of my audience are happy to learn you can air layer Mugo pine, I
      I am experimenting and will report on black pine.experience.
      Please stay tuned!

      I will certainly give it a shot in a few months after it has acclimated to the pot, and I'll share my results. I might even take another bigger air layer off the huge ground planted mugo knowing there is success to be had. Thank you for all the knowledge and guidance you share
