    Oh the joys of how our bodies systems change over the years. I’m 65 and started menopause about 25 years ago. I am still warm a lot but do have wonderful moments of saying oh I need a blanket then toss it off within 5 minutes. But most important I just really enjoy all your videos and have found some great books thru you. I look forward to whatever and whenever you post.

    Hi Susan! I love your channel, you’re so real and I’ve gotten so many great book recommendations from you, so don’t change it too much, please! And as for the perimenopause complaints, I’m so sympathetic. Everything you were saying I could relate to, especially the insomnia and the resulting fatigue and depression, it was the worst of all the symptoms for me. If there’s something in modern science and medicine that can help, take it, I say. Once you’re through perimenopause, there will be time then to wean off them. That’s what I did, and I feel back to myself now. So don’t despair, and know you have a lot of support out here 😊

    This is my new favourite channel, love to hear you chatting about books and other stuff 😊
    I recognize your perimenopause symptoms. For me it started two years ago when I was 40. First night sweating, but since the last half year very bad sleeping. My gp adviced me to start taking the pill again which at first I didn’t want to, because in the past I had so many side effects from it. But I tried it and it actually helps and I’m so happy. The night sweating is almost gone (although I’m still a furnace in bed and told my partner not to hug me anymore during the night 😢), but my sleep has now actually improved since I don’t do my stop week anymore! I’ve been sleeping well for almost two months and that makes me so happy! I hope you’re now doing better than when this video was shot 🫶

    My daughter who is 51 started having problems sleeping and brain fog. She decided to go to a MD hormone specialist. She was given a battery of blood tests including hormone levels. From these tests she was prescribed hormones that were needed for her body. She is now sleeping very well and the brain fog has lifted. I see this issue as thank God there are ways to help women through this now. Not enough of women know what to do to help themselves. It’s not understood and treated by most general doctors. All women should be, if wanted be helped through this time in our lives. I know one thing for sure, if men had to go through this, there would have been a cure a long time ago! The key here is to find a hormone MD specialist who knows how to tweak your hormones with continued blood work and follow ups. I hope you find what you need and something that works for you. Her Doctor is located in Charlotte N.C

      I loved the John Adam's book! He was a pivotal character at the time and after my decade fighting political demons here in Texas on various fronts, I felt and identified with Mr. Adam's in very many ways. It is difficult to be a "leader" not fight back against bold faced liars and manipulations on all sides. I thought the writer did a very fair job providing the sides at odds and discussing his weaknesses and faults. I think John Adam's would have appreciated the fairness.

      @RoadReads I'm listening to Richard Lattimore's translation.
      The Old Man and the Sea I'm listening to is read by Donald Sutherland, whom I enjoy listening to greatly. Also. It's a very short book as far as the books I've been reading/ listening to go.
      Oh yes, I wanted to say that I read Napoleon A Life just before John Adam's, and that was immensely interesting as the rise and fall of Napoleon happened during Mr. Adam's political career and the historical events all lined up between the two writings.
