In this video we show you how a bike camper is built. The idea and the design is from Paul Elkins. the whole construction plan can be bought on his homepage elkinsdiy.com/.
my last mobile home weighs 10 tons and is almost 9 meters long. I sold it because the big kids stopped coming. Florian and I are now building a bike camper. a micro camper which is very light and can be easily pulled by bicycle.
The body is made of polypropylene hollow chamber plates. The material is easy to cut and fold. We're looking forward to the vacation. how windows and interiors are built in part 3!
thank you www.polyroly.ch for the BIG suport!
Wow, a diy bike camper, awsome project. With all that space inside, U can load groceries & cooking accesories 4 weekend trips. Thx 4 sharing on the internet. Keep on cycling & camping.
Einfach Hammer, Lukas! 👏🏻👍🏻
Wünsche euch allzeit gute Fahrt damit... 🤙🏻
Thanks for your video JENNI. Great build. Nice to see you and the youngster make not only the camper, but also great memories together.
Now you have to use your mad sewing skills to make a cover out of sail cloth. Make it longer at the door end so you can use it for a little Awning for shade.
Or Not.
The issue I ran into when it came to these is the wind. It would seem with the combination of curved/low profile and fluted board being used, it wouldn't be an issue, especially comparing to other cycle mini campers. However the lightweight design can play against you, both being the trailer, AND the rider. But to fix this issue, I took 2 collapsible dog crates and connected them together. Not only are they waterproof and mosquito proof, but(as said) they're collapsible. So when I'm riding, they lay flat. And when I'm ready to camp, it's an easy set-up.
do you have a link to the crates that are mosquito and waterproof? Ive never heard of a dog crate like that.
@@greenghost6416 I imagine it's a matter of using the dog crates as a frame, then wrapping them in something that is bug proof and waterproof.
Das Gefährt für den nächsten bond Film! 😎👍🤙
I don't even have a bike but I'm well impressed with your skill and ingenuity. Impressive 👍
So many good ideas in one build 👍
XD
Enhorabuena por tus originales vídeos.
Yes, i loved your vid.
I wish i could have done some of what you guys r doing.
Enjoy life & the camper.❤
You are living my dream man. Congrats and Subscribed.
Hallo Lukas!
This is sooo cool
Amazing bike caravan! I want to built one myself on top of a Roland Traveller bike cart I bought for 40 euros used. But I want to make it compact (foldable) so it's very small when pulling it but full size when it's fully expanded to my bodylenght. Still some research to do but always good to watch video's about other build projects.
🤙 Funky ! Musik & Projekt.👍
Good job Lukas 👍
Very nice jenny, i like it a lot!
Nice build video
Richtig geil!
so gret, thankyou!
great!!
Awesome! 😃👍🏻👊🏻
Congratulations... 😀
Very well - right now check it in rain, and many holes on roof say: hello 😂
wow!!
Tolles Ding hast Du da gebaut!
Bin auf den nächsten teil gespannt
Gruß Jan // DrKuebel

are the columns in the front still sealed? or is the trailer intended only for good weather?
Greetings
Hi! I bought the plains, but I have some questions. What are the dimensions of the corrugated plastic sheets? (before the cut) and where you find those sheets? greetings from Chile!
Nice, but is this watertight? Or are you going to use this as a mold for a fiberglass shell?
One of these designed with a wooden body, a side hydrologic lyft door would be perfect for me. Maybe 4 inches wider.
Megaklasse! 😃😎👍🏻
Nice like it!
Muito bom,, ☺👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Cool 👍👍👍
Awesome
Awesome build what is the name of the plastic type material you’re using for the body called please
Have you thought about using truck bed liner sprey to seal it and for durability??
Mega cool, choge futuristisch. Bin gespannt, wie du da abdichtest
Cool Lukas tolles Gefährt. 👍 👍 👍 👍 Gruß Martin 🙋♂️
Bonjour, magnifique job. Merci
Great for 25 degree, overcast, no wind, no rain day! Otherwise, use different, stronger, lighter materials. But I'm sure you have already figured that out. 😊
How do you keep the rain out?
JENNI TOP!!!
Hey Jenni Swiss you still know me at the bus stops at the well I saw you there we also talked for a short while you had these white cars while I have subscribed to you I also like your videos very much! when we met, it was not so long ago
Good
Oh super👍
danke🤗
That pattern that you cut out of the paper . In order to make the airstream nose . On the bicycle camper . How wide was the bottom of it & as will how long was . I going to make on something like that . Just need to know how to cut the nose for it to get the airstream nose .
Klasse Teil. Gruß aus Rheinhessen
You did a very good job! But let me give you one of my experiences, : you made the same mistake, every people make ( me to) the frame stand on the axes. Some years ago, I build a bicycle trailer, in nearly the same way, you did. But the sheet metal angle, were the axe sit in were a little longer.
After some km it started to get unstable, an after some more Km it collapsed.
I stand there on the street 15 km away from home, with a lot of bags, an don’t know What to do. And then comes the idea,: to hang the frame on the axes. This brings the ground and the center of gravity under the axes, and the Trailer will drive with more stability.
And really, I turned the trailer upside down, I fixed the shaft on the other side, and it works very good!
Now I can go with highest speed in every curve, without any Problem that the trailer get unstable, or overturns .
I have this trailer now since 15 year, and it made more than 10.000 km without any Problem.
And I build two more Trailer, with bigger wheel an longer sheet metal angle.Try it!
thanks for your feedback. we drove several hundred km and had no problems. our spring-loaded drawbar absorbs the forces and cushions them.
I'd love to see one of these used for a mould and a carbon fibre version created!
I was thinking fiberglass
carbon fiber wouldn't be any lighter than the corruplastic used. He should of used aluminum for the frame to save weight!
Zumindest in Deutschland.
A camping trip video next?
How well does that cryo plast hold up Frozen? Let's say -25 degrees Celsius
Sehr interessante Konstruktion.
load it full of batteries and cover the top with some solar panels and u can go any range you desire!
Gute Arbeit, bringen Sie einfach ein Solarpanel.
Super))
Nice but must be heavy to carry
Suuuupersweet... Upvote ällei für die Stützescharnierhalterplattemetalldinger ;P
Gefällt mir! Wie schwer ist es?
And could double up as an eco hearse.
I would love to make that from wood how did you come up with the formula for the front to make that beautiful curve. I want to make a larger one for motor cycles
He's working from plans he got online (with a few mods of his own).
Look up Paul Elkins or ElkinsDIY.com i think. He sells plans there.
ok i have seen this around on the internet and thought it was cool ..one question i see you used all new materials what was the total cost for materials?
Hello! One question : Could you please tell us what kind of corrugated plastic sheets you used, and especially their initial dimensions?
I guess you used 4mm width sheets, but what were their original dimensions? 2m x 1,20m or something like that?
Thanks for sharing with us this awesome build!
Coloplast
What's that plastic thing you used to makr the arch?
9;59 rumbo a la aventura
Das ist so großartig! Absolut tolle Arbeit!
Do you have a link for "Polyroly" trailers so I can buy one of their towing hitch's.
I think that's a great modification.
link in discription👍😉
Indeed, those connectors seem far less of a hassle than the pin type I use - which never seem to line up for the first 10 minutes and then get jammed in the pin after you've towed for a while. That "twist-click and you're done" seems far superiors. Plus the way the other Polyroly parts hold in with so little effort is very nice.
I'd like it, but in my country its imposible 😁
Your zip tie game is strong lmfao
💖paul elkins💖👍👍
yessssss😊👍
Congratulations 👏👏👏👏.. What is the 5:25 song?
water proof?
what is the material of the floor and ceiling?
What is that material you using
Great job! How do you seal seams to make it weather tight?
yes
They didnt but you could use gorilla tap on the outside
dont zip ties become brittle in the sunlight in like 6 months?
not sure but I think his site is having issues. I jst tried purchasing a set of plans for the same bike camper but it keeps saying"error establishing a database connection." I cant even send him an email."FAILED"
Great video. Interesting project series. Looks like fun. Cheers. : )
Hallo! Wo habt ihr die Hohlkammerplatten gekauft? Wäre für jeden Tipp dankbar! LG
bei einer verpackungs firma in der schweiz
Tolles Video! Wo hast du denn das "corrugated plastic" her?
Cover it in fiberglass
