    In this video we show you how a bike camper is built. The idea and the design is from Paul Elkins. the whole construction plan can be bought on his homepage elkinsdiy.com/.
    my last mobile home weighs 10 tons and is almost 9 meters long. I sold it because the big kids stopped coming. Florian and I are now building a bike camper. a micro camper which is very light and can be easily pulled by bicycle.
    The body is made of polypropylene hollow chamber plates. The material is easy to cut and fold. We're looking forward to the vacation. how windows and interiors are built in part 3!
    thank you www.polyroly.ch for the BIG suport!

    Wow, a diy bike camper, awsome project. With all that space inside, U can load groceries & cooking accesories 4 weekend trips. Thx 4 sharing on the internet. Keep on cycling & camping.

    Thanks for your video JENNI. Great build. Nice to see you and the youngster make not only the camper, but also great memories together.
    Now you have to use your mad sewing skills to make a cover out of sail cloth. Make it longer at the door end so you can use it for a little Awning for shade.
    Or Not.

    The issue I ran into when it came to these is the wind. It would seem with the combination of curved/low profile and fluted board being used, it wouldn't be an issue, especially comparing to other cycle mini campers. However the lightweight design can play against you, both being the trailer, AND the rider. But to fix this issue, I took 2 collapsible dog crates and connected them together. Not only are they waterproof and mosquito proof, but(as said) they're collapsible. So when I'm riding, they lay flat. And when I'm ready to camp, it's an easy set-up.

    • @greenghost6416
      @greenghost6416 Год назад

      do you have a link to the crates that are mosquito and waterproof? Ive never heard of a dog crate like that.

    • @larrym2434
      @larrym2434 Год назад

      @@greenghost6416 I imagine it's a matter of using the dog crates as a frame, then wrapping them in something that is bug proof and waterproof.

    Amazing bike caravan! I want to built one myself on top of a Roland Traveller bike cart I bought for 40 euros used. But I want to make it compact (foldable) so it's very small when pulling it but full size when it's fully expanded to my bodylenght. Still some research to do but always good to watch video's about other build projects.

    You did a very good job! But let me give you one of my experiences, : you made the same mistake, every people make ( me to) the frame stand on the axes. Some years ago, I build a bicycle trailer, in nearly the same way, you did. But the sheet metal angle, were the axe sit in were a little longer.
    After some km it started to get unstable, an after some more Km it collapsed.
    I stand there on the street 15 km away from home, with a lot of bags, an don’t know What to do. And then comes the idea,: to hang the frame on the axes. This brings the ground and the center of gravity under the axes, and the Trailer will drive with more stability.
    And really, I turned the trailer upside down, I fixed the shaft on the other side, and it works very good!
    Now I can go with highest speed in every curve, without any Problem that the trailer get unstable, or overturns .
    I have this trailer now since 15 year, and it made more than 10.000 km without any Problem.
    And I build two more Trailer, with bigger wheel an longer sheet metal angle.Try it!

      Indeed, those connectors seem far less of a hassle than the pin type I use - which never seem to line up for the first 10 minutes and then get jammed in the pin after you've towed for a while. That "twist-click and you're done" seems far superiors. Plus the way the other Polyroly parts hold in with so little effort is very nice.
