You can swap the leather e- brake boot to the tilted one, just pull it hard and it should come off
I came to the comments to say this, there might be small clips on the bottom of the boot that aren’t seen when installed if remember right and if you get the clips lifted up a little the leather boot should just slide off, and same for the plastic boot 👍🏻
yup I did the same on my a3 8l, swapped out golf style leather ebrake boot@@Dnc95
there is.. you gotta find it.. wedge a pick in it lift. and you pull it of clean!@@Dnc95
Correct. The leather cover comes off. Turn it upside down. There’s a clip in the back just use an angled pick tool and pull up on it to release it and it slides off the hand brake frame. Super easy. 👍🏼👍🏼
hey man i did the same cup holder console swap in my mk4. You can actually take the leather trim off the old hand brake and swap it over to the new one. no need to get a new hand brake. All you gotta do is stick a long flat head screw driver into the the top back portion of the hand brake and work the clip off it.
This. I did the same thing when I swapped consoles
If none of the locks are working then it should be the main line. I think there is a junction point where the lines split to the various doors under the back seat.
Much appreciated information!
Also...check for broken hoses in the door boots first...start w driver door...most used
I did this with mine you can easily keep the leather one. Either pop the leather cover off and swap it or you can just drill the hole out a little more and tilt it sideways a bit.
Check the line going into the driver door lock actuator from when you fixed the window
You can change the handbrake covers over with a really long flathead screwdriver
u can change out the "CAP" off the e-brake, i did that on my Seat Leon Mk1
Id say there’s definitely a leak in the locking system by the way the vacuum pump keeps going for ages after turning the key. When it gets pressure to lock/unlock it will stop pumping straight away
Exactly and I tested that when I took the vacuum line off and plugged the hole on the pump and it shut off right away. So now just the fun part of finding the leak 😅
Since you recently did the window regulator, maybe start in that door first!
Pretty sure you can easily swap the boots on these ebrakes, there's a little tab on the bottom and you just pull it
I have also a 95 mk3 golf with vr6 here in germany. If the zv pump is working so long there is a leak in the system. I had the same problem i caused the pump to die, the connector to the trunk wasn't connect.
I had a spare on but realized today that the one I have didn't fit plug and play because of the older style of the vacuum line connector of the pump.
The car is builld with parts from different mk3 original it was a 1.4 60hp, with no extras.
Need away to smoke test it to save you some time from tearing the whole interior apart. See if you can get your hands on a smoke tester
The leather stitched part of the brakes (the cover) comes off. Not glued on or anything, just have to pull like hell till it comes off. You can just swap the cover from your old one onto the new one ;)
Check the door vacum lines its might be lose or something I also has the same issue but út fixed check the vacum lines between the car body and the door ther is also a vacum Line each one of áll doors
Hi Christian, Splendid video. I have a 2002 Volkswagen Bora V5 RHD, and I need the main door master switch grab handle bracket. Can you help me find one, new or used? I can only find it for the LHD Bora.
My air line in the lock was leaking once in the rear door jam
Paint the tan one !
I have the same Votex keyless entry module on my car, unfortunately the key is probably long gone and i can't find a replacement
I thought, that every US-Version had this Cupholder lower console.
Hi you can spray the ten handbreak to black and it wil look good
slot cut the top whole and push it to the left?
Go get the tan leather e-brake handle and get it recovered
You can swap the handbrake cover, there's a small tab on the bottom side around where it turns downwards, pull that out and you can slide the cover off and swap them around
Source: I did that for my setup 😂
I want a poster how can I get the skull decal thank you
Why not just oval the hole so you can move the ebrake over a little bit and tighten it back down
Things I didn’t think about till I was already done but it’s all good lol
@@Mk3Smith interior tear out pt.3 lol
It's possible to swap the leader e-brake cover from the old e-brake to the new one.
Honestly when I was editing the video I did think of that but I’m not sure. Or if I just extended the mount on the leather one to match the longer one. That would also work. But all after thoughts 😂😂
@@Mk3SmithIf i remember it right there ist ab point on the leather on the underside to stick throw to press an remove the cover. On the plastik cover it should be easier.
Maybe this should be easier and you could change the cover without removing the console again.
When you remove the regulator maybe the line disconnected
I did go back and check that but I couldn’t feel any air leaking from the vacuum pump itself so I don’t think that’s my issue.
Would you be able to get me the center console with cup holders in that tan color ? Id love that :D
I could go see if it’s still there yeah! I only saw the rear piece of it though I didn’t see the whole console but maybe it was laying somewhere
@@Mk3Smith Dont know if shipping to EU would be possible anyways..
Its bn a while🙂
Why didnt you transfer the leather stitched handle to the new ebrake handle, its a easy fix.
After thoughts lol
@Mk3Smith yeah easy to miss that out but it is removable , there is a tab on the bottom you can push and remove the handles :)
From the vacuum pump, follow the white main hose which goes to the left (under the trunk carpet) to the first t-fitting which should be just behind the backseat area on the drivers side,
From there it splits into a white hose (left side) and a red hose (right side) which goes behind the backseat area in the trunk to a Y-fitting.
From the T-Split and y-split on each end of the car the white and red hoses will continue along the same path as the main harness just beneath the plastic sills and in the middle of each B-pillar you'll have another T-split which splits the hoses to each door and forward to the front doors where it Connects with the same hoses to the door actuators.
It is possible for the connectors (same connector as on the pump) in those door actuators to break as well if someone has been doing maintenance inside the doors before, or by weathering.
If there is just one leak or a disconnected hose somewhere in the whole vacuum system it will malfunction that's why the pump is going on forever, a sealed system would make the pump go for maximum 2 seconds.
There is a lot of troubleshooting, but i would start cheching every T-fitting and Y-Fitting.
Swap the cover bro! Itll come off! Dont buy one!
I did today haha but I didn’t even think about that till I was editing 😂
Lol! All good bro! Ive built a mk3 or 2 in my day! Lol
