This is one of the, if not the, most in-depth and common sense comparisons of rack hole spacing and all that comes with making that fundamental decision. At the end of the day, you have to chose one. When I bought my rack 2.5 years ago, I wish I had this information. Well done, Raeme (I hope I spelled your name right, I apologize if I didn’t).
@@thehomegymlifeproject1246 I think I’m gonna do 5/8” actually! I don’t foresee putting a lot on the sides of my rack, and I really like the idea of west side hole spacing for things like bench and various squat depths. Plus, with the attachments being rated for the same weight, it feels like a really solid pick👍
Very informative… still looking around at what is going to work best for me. We have a 12’ x 12’ room we’re going to use… I have a son that wrestles and a daughter in cheer/tumbling, so I want a foldable rack so we can throw some mats down so they can use the space also
I’m looking at the PR-4000 and it actually has 2 inch spacing on the sides and 1 inch in the bench zone, if that matters for anyone wanting to put attachments on the sides
Westside used 24". It was the common size for many yrs. It the minimum you want. 30" seems to be more of a sweet spot. Bigger is not needed unless you have a reason.
@@thehomegymlifeproject1246 My plan was for a 30 because I figured 6 inches less wouldn't really make that much difference in my cramped space, plus as I said everything I've heard says 24 was too cramped. I think I'll take another look at the 24. Thanks.
Is there a bushing/sleeve that can be added to make the 5/8" peg into a 1". The posts on my rack are 2.33"x2.33" with 1" holes and bells of steel sells attachments that fits it, but their bolts are 5/8". If I can add a sleeve to make it 1" that would be perfect.
@@futbol1972 no, they fit outside or over the 5/8” shaft and have 3/16” wall. That way you take up the extra space around the 5/8” when you insert it in a 1” hole. But yes, they make the 5/8” fit more tightly in a 1” hole. The opposite, sticking a 1” shaft in a 5/8” hole would not be possible.
Holes are 1" from center to center, which is 2.54 cm. However, keep in mind some companies use metric while others use imperial, so those numbers may not be approximate, it will vary by brand.
Yes and no. They fit bit the question is how well and how safe is it? For example I wouldnt trust a jcup but my safety pins? Sure. So it depends. As storage and other small things yes but no way to something like a jcup
Dont do it. My 5/8 spotter arms arent secure on the 1". Maybe the titan ones would be different because of the 2 pins but I wouldn't chance it or trust it.
this guy is a teacher. thank you for teaching me and actually demonstrating measurements!.
Great info. Thank you. Cleared up a lot for me.
Excellent comprehensive video! Just shared this in my Discord!

*choose one not "chose"
I’m building my home gym in my new house, and this video was EXTREMELY helpful. Thank you!
What do you think you are going to go with?

Really solid breakdown. Thank you!
Thank you so much for this detailed vid! Big help.
FYI for 2" hole spacing, there are drop-J-cups that can achieve that 1" hole spacing. Just gotta swap J cups
Outstanding. Well done.

Very detailed video. Thank you.
You are welcome!
MAN I wish I knew this in 2018 when I bought my rack haha
Back then 2x3 was king still. Companies just trying to get us to buy more gear lol
@@thehomegymlifeproject1246100%!!!
I love my Legend Fitness half rack because of the plate storage pegs. 4 posts do not have plate storage, and that sucks...
Rouge Monster spotter arms are good for up to 800lbs dropped

Yes that is new on the pr4k and awesome of rep to include those side holes
You're the first I've heard who says 24 inch depth is fine.

My rack uses Westside spacing front to back and 2" on the sides not 5" or 6".
I'm looking at FORCE USA G20 and the VANDER USA M14. Which would you get out of the two, and why?
I dont know anything about the vander but forceusa has good reputation.

Yes there are. Lowes, tractor supply etc sells spacers that you can add.
Is it like a tube that u insert inside 5/8" to make it 1" ?

Could you tell me exactly what range the westside hole spacing is in centimeters? Thanks!

Good information, but, can you be more concise?
Can u use 5/8 attachments on a with 1 inch holes ?

@@thehomegymlifeproject1246 I was going to try get the x3 spotter arms cause they where cheaper then the titan seriers lol no not a good ideal ?

@@thehomegymlifeproject1246 ok thanks
only safe if you have a sleeve that fits onto the skinny studs and can up-size the 5/8" hardware to fit snugly in a 1" hole
I personally like tighter holes
Not much choice if you have small pins 😜
