Hi Brandon , you can write these issues on chrome os flex forum as well as chromium bug report channel, whenever I ran into problems using flex I simply reported to the chromium bug report channel and the developers did reply to my issues
How about going one step further by installing ChromeOS Flex on the SD card itself? This with Windows or MacOS installed on the internal SSD will create a dual boot computer with both drives internal. No need to plug in a USB drive with ChromeOS Flex on it.
I remember Google promising to make a site in the future where you can share with other users how well Chrome OS Flex works on a particular device model, what bugs there are, what works/doesn't work, etc. Did they never do that?
Brandon, I've written to you before, I have an HP chromebook 14 (2014/ "falco") I actually have several of these laptops I've experimented with FYDE & Linux (many distros) the SD card reader WORKS, on one presently with FLEX v.102.0.5005.5 (Official Build) the SD board is independent of the main MB I could send a "pic" if you like? where?
I think I know what's going on. SD card readers are connected generally via PCIe or USB. I have a PCIe reader and it's a no go. USB card readers could work 'cause they are connected via USB internally. If you navigate to "chrome://system/", do you see your working / not working readers listed under "lsusb" or "lspci"?
On my non-working ASUS, the adapter (realtek rts5129) is listed under lsusb On the working MacBook, it is also listed under lsusb (as apple internal memory card reader) Guessing Flex just does not have drivers for realtek reader?
@Brandon Stecklein I do have a Realtek rts522a connected via PCIe. Drivers are generally included with the Linux kernel. Flex might have a specific issue with Realtek readers.
Asus K53SK. Card Reader does not work. And what frustrates me personally, Chrome OS Flex can't read my two external HDDs with a large movie collection. It just offers to format them, but when I agree, nothing happens.
I’ve been following the journey of this SD card reader and I can’t wait to see that working on your chromebook!
thanks, lol! one day!
I'll mention again, I'm running "Coreboot" on these HP's, or because its a "chromebook" the firmware is in place?
I don't know if coreboot would make any sort of difference, not sure though
What brand/model of SD card dongle were you using? I can't find a card reader for Chrome OS.
