I would also like to tell people who don't work as influencers and don't earn from social media: STOP posting everything you do!! You have no idea how many information can be collected about you just looking at what you post!! Stop posting the moment when you're about to get on a flight, stop posting while you're on vacation and stop accetting every follow request you receive just because you want to have thousands of followers (having a private account is useless if u have 2000-3000 followers)... I do understand that you feel the need to show off but you have to start using social media more cosciunsly because this overposting addiction is dangerous and also ridiculous if you are a grown ass adult

I am sorry it happens to you and hope you will get the bags back. Italian lady here who travels all over the world and mostly solo. Sadly designer things make you a target. The only time I almost got robbed, ironically, was in Milan after leaving Hermes with their orange shoppers. After that when I go luxury shopping I either take a cab or ask for anonymous shoppers. Pro tips for travelling anywhere: no luxury luggage (gets damaged and makes you a visible target anytime you carry it and in your hotel room), no visible jewelry and luxury items unless you are going to a specific place and coming back with uber/taxis. When you are out exploring just wear nice outfits that do not scream tourist or "I am rich". For Italy specifically, always close your purses and keep them with a hand/under your shoulder in city/crowded places, do not leave your luggage in cars, especially at autogrills on the motorways. Leave one person in the car, if possible. Other risky places are near the beach. Better to arrive at the next hotel, leave everything, and go exploring afterwards. Anytime I am with luggage I try to look as inconspicuous as possible and blend in. If you rent a car, try to avoid luxury models and any car that is visibly rental, that immediately identifies you as a tourist. The only place in the world where I would feel safe not taking precautions may be Japan

I always try not to leave shops with a luxury bag. Usually I hide it. I live in the UK and I do it here too. Once I've seen a guy stealing an Apple bag from a girl in the city centre of a "posh" British town and running away with it. Since then, I never walk around with a branded bag

How does the anonymous shoppers thing work at Hermes or other big designer stores? Me and my husband bought our wedding bands from Cartier, and the only thing we had done to the classic red bag was it had been put within another white simple bag, in order to make it seem like we did not purchase anything from Cartier. We additionally put that bad in my husband's backpack so nobody outside the store would see us leaving with a bag in hand. But I wonder how does it work for other stores? I know sometimes you can request the store to ship your product to your hotel directly so you do not need to worry about travelling with your new purchase around town...

    • @francesca2079
      @francesca2079 4 месяца назад +7

@@nanekatharina3911 it is the same concept. Most store nowadays have white bags and some will fold the branded shopper bag and put it inside the white bag with the purchases. Another thing that I do is having a large black shopper made of canvas that can be folded into nothing on me. If the shop does not have unbranded shoppers I just use that. Although I think most shops now are equipped for this because sadly it has been an ongoing problem and risk in a lot of countries.

As a Japanese person living in Europe, I appreciate your comment. Since the Yen has depreciated by more than 30% this year against the dollar and euro, a different type of travelers are coming to Japan from all over the world. When I can‘t fit my bags into the safe in a hotel room, I use a long metal chain with a lock and chain the bags through their handles to something sturdy in the hotel room, for example a radiator, enclosed parts of a sofa or bed, towel holder that is drilled into the wall….you can get Creative 🤓 That way, if someone wants to steal a bag they would have to destroy the handle or the chain or rip the hotel room apart.

There’s such a thing as toxic positivity. There’s nothing wrong with feeling, sad, mad, angry or violated. Those are valid feelings when something traumatic happens to us. People can attach sentimental value to personal items and they have a right to mourn if those items are lost or stolen. What’s probably unhealthy is to dwell on those feelings without realizing how blessed we may be despite the loss. Try not to tell someone how to process their experiences. The guy beat us hard, my dad got 2 vertebrae broken, and I was also really hurt in my back and head. The guy was on drugs and so strong. It was really frustrating that the three of us got beaten by a single guy, which made me guilty and very angry angry. Afterward, we prayed and thanked God we were alive. But I am not fully recovered, even 1 year later... It felt like he also stole our inner piece and the safety our home represents... Sorry for sharing such a bad experience, but I just want to point out that it could have been way worse for me and my beloved ones.
I wish you and your husband all the best! Love from Brazil xoxo

My husband got robbed in Barcelona and I got robbed on the metro in Paris last spring. We are always on the watch but it happens so fast and they usually work as a team. A gold necklace with a crucifix and Italian charms were ripped off his neck. The necklace was his grandmothers she brought with her to America from Sicily when she immigrated. May I add something else for people. Do not ever let someone working on your property park behind you and block you in. So that they know when you leave the house. I had very expensive jewelry stolen that way from my bedroom. And one of the things was a charm bracelet where I had had every charm cast from gold from my late mother’s handed down rings that I wouldn’t wear. I had all the molds made myself. I went through a an apartment trespassing last year and it was traumatic because so many things were broken and we were burglarized and physically attacked, but we fought back and what was trying to be stolen didnt and we walked away with our lives, which was also a blessing.
But i can totally relate on so much of what you said because i left the caribbean for safety to the US to feel safe but in the US all this bad stuff happened and its hard to relearn how to feel safe, and i also suffered anxiety as a teen so to go back to zero and learn how to basically fight fear and feel safe is a battle. Lou, I am so sorry for everything that have happened to you. Do not know the exact circumstances, but to anyone who is reading this - there are a lot of cases of car break-ins, especially in Italy, but also in the south of France. People rent a car, park it on the side of the road (in a neighborhood that seems safe), go to a restaurant or somewhere else, for not a long period of time, and when they are back the door or the truck is open (even without window breaking) and their belongings are missing. My friend got stolen a pair of Nike sneakers (his luggage got open and they took some stuff out), so they steal not only luxury goods!

Thank you for this! And yes, even inside a parking lot. Just never leave any belongings inside a car. Car break ins and grab and run on the streets seem to be the most common

I confirm, I just got robbed all my luggage from our car in Tuscany last week. It happened in less than 2 hours away from the car. Thankfully I managed to locate my MacBook later that day and I went there with the carabinieri : we got all our luggage back except for a luxury pair of shoes they didn't return. They claimed they found the luggage in the street... (no comment).

Ignore all negative and hateful comments. Some people are so jealous and mean. They live a sad life. Maybe one day they will have joy so they don’t have to try and steal other people’s joy. ❤ Have a fabulous day!🌸

I'm sorry, did I miss how it happened? My aunt and 8 of her family members are going to Rome next month. I would hate for them to not know how to protect themselves. Can you share, please, how this happened?

I always assumed anyone carrying luxury items while traveling would have a private plane and a chauffeur with security training. My sister had a Rolex stolen by a TSA agent in Hawaii over 15 years ago and it was sobering. When I was 20, I picked up a new 'Benz in Stuttgart to drive to Antwerp and decided not to wear any of my jewelry or carry designer bags because the new car was enough flash. I am so sorry this lovely woman and her family experienced such trauma and loss, especially following a wedding celebration.

So sorry you had to go through this.
I think it's good that you can talk it through on your channel.
I don't care if your bag was $50 or $5000, its still YOURS and for someone to take your stuff is a violation. Period!
    Don't stop living.
I'm looking forward to the next part of your journey and see what you unbox in the future. Stay true to yourself. ❤

There were times when I'd be in my hotel room with the do not disturb sign on the door handle and the hotel staff will still attempt to enter my room. They definitely pay attention to who has what. Sorry this happened to you Lou, I know how this feels. I pray you get blessed 10x over.

My husband and I always opt out of house keeping for the reason we don't want anyone coming in our room. Plus we are usually always in the room anyways. We only call to the front desk if we need more towels or toliet paper.

This sounds very similar to when Tamara got her bags stolen. Same story. Posting the bags seems like some kind of scam to as you say, get you twice. The middle women never planned on returning the bags nor has she probably returned them to who she bought the from. She knows these bags are stolen and is apart of the thief ring. People are so cruel. 😢

I’m sorry this happened to you. It really is such a violation. There needs to be a formal international luxury database of stolen merchandise where victims and police can add the serial numbers of stolen items and resellers & potential buyers can check before buying these items for resale.

I haven’t been interested in buying luxury handbags anymore. A good LongChamp makes any outfit cute. My shoes can be Chanel. Worry free. Zero interest in buying Chanel, playing Hermes game. These brands doesn’t care about you, if you got robbed… why would I care about them. Nope.

I was pickpockted/ribbed big time in Portugal. Lost my Gucci backpack, LV wallet, 2000 euros, phone and camera. I was extremely careful in locking my bag. The big mistake was setting my backpack down to wipe down my husband after the pickpocket poured milk on him. In a matter of seconds, the entire bag was gone. They worked in groups or pairs and they use every tactic to make distract you from putting down your belongings and taking your eyes way from them, including dirtying you. I still feel trauma from the experience, even when it was so many years ago. Nowadays, I travel with a cheap bags, hook my phone to my body and bring as little cash as I can. I don't even bring a camera anymore. Less to lose. And nowadays I always get little panic attacks when I travel.
