    No matter what It's still better than any traffic signalisation. I'm sick of waiting 5 minutes to arrive between 2 intersections where I can be in 15 seconds with roundabouts

  • @omema81

    Very effective and helpful video . I also find this roundabout confusing as there is not enough time to think and proceed . Can you please tell me when entering from ALDI side and turning right you said we shouldn’t signal as it’s a curve . Won’t it be confusing on the cars on the opposite side if they don’t know from before which lane are we going in ?

    • @JamesTravis
      @JamesTravis  2 года назад +2

      If you signal to early it could come off as you straighten up in approach to roundabout. Also because of the unusual angle of the giveway junction, you might get confused and try turning right into the oncoming traffic.

    At 5:42 where you do the right turn, is it wrong to get into the middle lane from that direction even though the middle and right both lead to the dual carriageway?

    • @JamesTravis
      @JamesTravis  3 года назад

      That’s ok, but you would need to check your left side just in case a car on your left tries to use the lane.

    • @billyoneill7381
      @billyoneill7381 3 года назад +1

      @@JamesTravis I am always wary of that due to the lack of lane markings at that point. If there is a car on the left I usually back off just incase either at the junction or at the start of the main roundabout if I need to take a gap.

    Can pupils be failed if they come off in the right hand lane of a roundabout ? I was under the impression so long as they do it safely and correctly it’s fine

    • @JamesTravis
      @JamesTravis  3 года назад +2

      This roundabout has a dual lane and is small and sharpe bends and is usually very busy, last thing you would want to do is change lanes until you get off. But on a standard size roundabout you would be expecting to exit into the left if possible.

  • @tanyano9
    @tanyano9 5 месяцев назад +1

    @ 5:44 why did you pick the right hand lane as both lanes turn right? I'd have gone for the middle lane behind the red car which would have put you in the N/S lane once you'd turned right....?

    • @JamesTravis
      @JamesTravis  5 месяцев назад +1

      Yes you can go to the middle lane. But on a busy day you will get cars coming from your left who will try and get into that middle lane. So with experience I avoided the middle to be safe.

    As you're approaching this one are you able to take the left or right lane of either roundabout, and do they head to the same exit? If yes then what's the point in two connected roundabouts like that? Also is there one specific roundabout that you should be using over the other? Confusing

    • @JamesTravis
      @JamesTravis  Год назад

      Could you be more specific with a time on the video because it does change from all four directions

    • @misstangshan95
      @misstangshan95 Год назад

      @@JamesTravis at 4:08 it confuses me why you're using the right lane when your exit is the first on the roundabout? you used the right lane to join the closest roundabout, just to immediately move to the left to exit. Would joining the far side rectangular roundabout from that same right lane lead you off to that same exit? If yes then why is there a long rectangle roundabout and smaller one there like that in the first place? I appreciate your quick replies to my question:)

    • @JamesTravis
      @JamesTravis  Год назад

      @@misstangshan95 at 4:08 the right lane goes right only. The middle and left lanes on approach go ahead which both lanes turn to the left only. So if you want to go right you need the right lane and if you want to go ahead(which is to the left), then use the other lanes.

    • @misstangshan95
      @misstangshan95 Год назад

      @@JamesTravis its when you say goes right only, with this specific roundabout, it looks like you're leaving at the first exit, so how can that be a right exit? Why would that not be a left lane/exit? Or is it that going to join the other roundabout IS the first and second exit? I should probably just simplify it by counting the lanes and see where they take me as opposed to getting confused in which kind of road (in this case a roundabout) is approaching and the specific rules applied to each. Would you agree?

    • @JamesTravis
      @JamesTravis  Год назад +1

      @@misstangshan95 think of it like this. At the roundabout in question you can either go right or left not ahead. So right lane takes the second exit and goes right and the middle and left lanes take the first exit left.

      If you have got your own car, depending on your own level of competence and confidence I should look at current "support bubble" regulations in relation to private practice. It might be possible to legally incorporate a full licence holder living alone locally or single parent living only with under eighteens into your bubble arrangement. If you are seventeen there may be other angles. At least you can keep the skill level up and get around a bit too. I remember years ago my mother a full licence holder, passed and initially had the red book licence went onto green one until you are seventy style had given up driving for thirty years and could not drive at all after this gap but was qualified to sit and supervise learners because she still had a valid full licence!

      @@alanandconnielast of course it is. A lot depends on how far you are in your lessons. I would have a chat with your instructor and come up with a plan. If you are ready for a test you could either look for a cancellation or delay your lessons until a month before your test.
