- In this video, I capture all conversations, music, and guide entries (ones missing during the trek are tacked on at the end after I run the credits with bonus banter/outtakes). I finish by purposely killing a family, and show footage of a death from Dysentery.

Red Dead Redemption 2 looks amazing
OMG an upload of this game with no commentary so I can listen to all the music! THANK YOU SO MUCH!
That's what this channel does. Also look up longplays- lot's of people do it
I have no idea why, but something about this game used to creep me out when I was younger. I dunno if it was the imminent risk of people falling ill and dying, the old-fashioned artwork or the ominous “dun dun dun” heralding yet more problems...
Watching it today just sets me on edge 😂
It downright scared me as a kid. The sudden pop-ups with the sound effects (the wagon fire one in particular, even the one in this video made me jump), the rugged, almost muddy artwork (the person for the sick pop up looks disfigured with how sloppy the drawing is), and the game as a whole has this strange aura of unpredictable ominousness
Popups scared me too as a kid, especially the Ox is sick animation.
@Snagno I could not have put it better myself - those are exactly the reasons!
I thought I was the only one. This game used to give me nightmares as a kid. The “dun dun dun” sound effect and the somewhat creepy appearance of the people didn’t help either.
@@SpaceScreaminJohn totally agree!! 😰
Aha! This is the Oregon Trail my siblings and I played before we got the sequel for Christmas.
My first solo game, I was a doctor.
Everyone else died from sickness or drowning. (Caulking the wagon and floating it across...many memories of holding our breath and praying that, if the wagon tipped over, there wouldn't be a hat floating.)
It was always so exciting to see buffalo after days of only hunting rabbits.
When I went down the final river, I hit a rock, but...no hat!
I arrived in Oregon, thankful that my first endeavour was a success. I don't think I ever got all my party safely to Oregon until playing the sequel.
simple times! I can read the joy in you statement!
Haha that jonas brother's tombstone though. LOL
Such is the way of an Oregon Trail game....
39:50 - Problem sound effect
39:52 - Problem sound effect
39:54 - "Can it get any worse?"
39:56 - Cue death song.
I've beaten the games many times, but that RNG hates everyone sometimes
The pop up and the sound from the problems scared me as a kid and I've never forgotten it.
@@NothinButRock I'm literally watching this video to remind myself of that fear. I felt the exact same way. I used to have to take the computer out of my room.
@@NothinButRockme too
“Can it get any worse?”
**Elec Man died of cholera**
Are you sorry you asked ?
Larry Phenow has such a beautiful voice. What a great rendition of Wayfaring Stranger.
This game was my introduction to the song.
This version is better than the other one
This game brings back so many memories for me. I played it for hours in middle school. Good times 🥰
This game and Amazon Trail is my favorite games to play on computer
The Problem Pop-Ups and the music it plays will haunt any child! Im 14 and the death music is forever burned into my brain! It's terrifying! XD
I figured it out. If anyone's wondering, you have to run the program in Windows 95 compatibility mode.
Game: Gut man gets better!
1 day later
Game: Gut man is bitten by a snake
This is the version I grew up with. What I would give to play it again.
Never saw this version before. Must be the latest of Deluxe. But Oregon Trail is nostalgia.
I never grew up playing this game, but damn does looking at the old ui for windows 7 bring me back to simpler times.
39:55 Death Theme
25:33 is what you mean by JonasBrothers' death
I used to be scared of it as a kid. Now I'm 20, and I've realized that it's a very pretty tune for such a sad occurence.
The music combined with the picture of everyone grieving really makes it sad. That dog howling in the corner hits me the hardest.
Very different from what I remember, but it is sad.
This was my favorite version of Oregon Trail. :')
Yeah! I love how there's screens of like when bad things happen! (Ex: *No grass for oxen*) That darn "Dan Dan Dan" noise is so scary especially some of the Problem Cutscreens!
How Ironic for Dr. Willy to come upon the Jonas Brothers Gravestone lol.
Such bad luck at the end! Thanks for sharing
1:42:04 "Zeke is well again."
... 1 second later "Zeke has the measles."
1 second later "Zeke has died"
That happened to one of my characters before! They got measles and than when I was trying to rest and save them they died the next in-game day! XD
That kind of cascade was peak comedy when me and friends played it because we’d all just name our travelers after ourselves
A game from my childhood!!
Der Der Derrr
8:26 Aaaahhh! It's Mike Meyers in The Love Guru! Run away while you still can!
Appleboy78165 Dammit, Mike Myers. You used to act like Austin Powers, not like someone who brags about fucking the entire city of Austin.
this is the one i had, the fancier version that wasn't all midi synth
same
39:25-39:29 The sounds that come to mind whenever on FB I receive a friend request, and whenever on FB someone unfriends me.
1:43:54 Gravesite/ 1:44:00 FailingTo Oregon Theme
RIP Fire Man-- he was so close.
jeez cut man got fever like 3 times before dieing. we all saw it coming
how do you get full screen and sound working with this version, please? I really want to play it properly, and I can't get it to work.
25:35 Ditto. 😂
Yep this is the one I played, the sound effect that plays whenever something bad happens is the same.
Yessss this is the only version I ever played!
The Oregon Trail I so Love and Miss this Old Game Of The 90’s and where and while my whole entire family like me just couldn’t resist playing this whole entire game over and over game in a single day or more constantly and except the only memories I don’t ever want to remember nor think about is when the Whole Family my mom and I came up for the game one night all died on the Journey not even halfway to the end and where from either a broken arm or two or Cholera and Constant RattleSnake Bites or Fevers and that I had never played an Oregon Trail game that tragic before and then where also having to go along with constantly suffering with that issue of Spoiled Food from Primarily Spoiled Meats which we’re mostly coming from all of those Buffalo Kills 😔 !
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
I never knew they had outtakes
Please. Let us all now our heads in remembrance of Murder Junkie: he enjoyed murdering absolutely everything and everyone. 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Childhood memories 👌
39:40 Problem theme
You named yourself Dr. Wily, despite the fact that the other party members are clearly Dr. Light's robots?
The voice actors/actresses sound like they just woke up from a nap.
39:21 recovery theme
You missed talking to your people from the Dalles to Willamette Valley... of what only works when you take the Barlow road.
The conversations for this game always sounded so eerie and off-putting
The Oregon Trail game is like
A mixture of Survival and Education
Right?
More resource management RNG quest with education- except for the Wii version, which is a broken joke you can win just by whipping and not much in the education department. NPC banter in the earlier games was more focused on general info- from this one to 5th Ed, they tried to get more paraphrasing actual journal entries and newspapers at the time. Hell, the minor details they tried for 2nd Ed (my personal favorite) were refreshing, like intentionally having parts of the soundtrack sung by the devs themselves, as they wanted it to sound more authentic to people singing along the trail (which most would've had no vocal training and sound off-key, as the devs did naturally).
I never made it to the end😂➡😭
I played from 1997 to 2008
I admit I never paid any attention to the guide book...
What's your closet
Zeke is well again
Zeke has the Measles
Francis is well again
Zeek died of measles
ooooooooooooof
26:09 independance rock
Where can you get that version?
Vixen Foxtail Use google
@@donkeykongisytpooping3002 what do i have to type in?
Vixen Foxtail Just type in Oregon trail deluxe
What is this older version of the Oregon trail Deluxe?
Is it still available?
Or no?
fire man wouldnt have died if youd kept going to the end
Another avoidable last minute death death
Not Cut Man! 49:43
I find it funny how for the snake river they play a song about a river way back over in west Virginia.
I finished this game in 9 minutes 8 seconds
17:30 meme
I finished he game in 20-45 mins
The voice acting in this game is atrocious. I guess it can be excused, though. MECC had programmers doing voice work. It actually adds to the elegant, yet simple feel of this edition of Oregon Trail.
Um, I'm pretty sure that's not the game's voice... games back then didn't have speech in them. It's the dude who actually posted this just reading the screen into his microphone.
No, it's voice acting. This was actually the first release of the game to have it.
What year was this from? Must've been after Windows 95 with CD-ROM support.
1993
Windows 3.1 had CD-ROM support.
yep - this is the version of the game i had. i can still remember all the intonations of the voice acting.
You aren’t very good at this game
He was purposely killing them. Read the description! -.-
