Good video Sam. I’m super stoked here on Kangaroo Island as just tonight I got the VIN for my MY24 Long range Single motor Polestar 2, now due to arrive at Polestar Adelaide by October! It’s built on the same updated platform as these Volvos but gets a little more range. Dream car for sure! Just happened to be the same day I shipped off my diesel Amarok to the mainland after I sold it the car buying service suggested by Polestar. Will miss the truck, but from now on I’m powered by my solar panels.
I have just purchased a 6 month old Volvo C 40 plus with less than 200 miles on the clock for £44,950. I am very pleased with it, you don't have to cancel the lane changing warning each time you set off,the previous settings remain and you don't even have to press a starter button. I could not cope with an EX30 because it just has a large I pad and no speedometer in front of the driver.
Look at latest video of @Volvo_Kristian 472km range on wet road with 16.2kwh/100km efficiency (2024) down from 400km and 17,8kwh (2023) twin motor. Some claiming to have driven over 500km in good conditions. I also just came back from EX30 Preview. Its a small car inside and inconvenient getting in and out vs XC40 which is quite roomy inside. There is a +/- 10k price difference but if you want to travel with people on back seats, xc40 is definitely worth it and more of a car than EX30 in terms of features and with faster charging and more range. Personally will order extended range lower trim XC40 (Plus) to match with cost of EX30 ultra.
The battery stats displayed are the overseas models. In Australia the single motor version gets a 66kWh (usable) battery and the twin gets a 79kWh (usable battery). Meaning the single motor version goes 40km less. MY24 twin drivers are seeing low 17kWh/100kms which would put real world range around 465k
I see this car a lot in Belgium. Maybe because it is build here in the Gent Volvo factory. As a fleet owner it's not a bad option in my opinion! Europeans like the Volvo brand and don't like unknown (Chinese) brands. It is one of they only valid option to not get scared emplyees with an unknow car in their hands.
EPA ratings are not a consistent measure. EPA does not conduct the tests. Different automakers use different procedures to calculate range. Vehicle-specific 5 cycle methodology leads to different adjustment factors for different manufacturers. Tesla has the most optimistic range calculation, which is why it significantly underperforms in third party testing, falling short by 26% on average in SAE testing. Volvo has tended to beat its claimed EPA range, as seen on Edmunds. The big difference here could be in the actual vehicle, or it could be utilization of a different range calculation. Unfortunately, there is no clear labeling for what procedure the manufacturer used to come up with their claimed EPA range. We need one standard testing procecure and range formulation, ideally tested by a third party, so that we have a consistent way to compare ranges.
No LFP means no from me. I do like this car and almost bought one a few weeks ago but the more I learn about battery improvements the more I want those better batteries in my next car.
Funny thing.. just before watching this video, i watched a guy called Volvo_Kristian drive the new 2024 XC40 twin on a route involving some mountain climbs. And he managed 293 miles with about 3% battery left.
Will this be built in the USA? I know Volvo has a plant in South Carolina. I think they only build EV’s there. They also have a battery factory. Anyway do you know if this car will be built in the USA? I’m assuming so!?
This highlights again the challenge of buying an EV now. The year after an updated model comes out with increased range and maybe lower price. The resell value of the old model will be low. I wouldn’t buy an electric car at this moment, better to lease it. Once the price goes down a bit more and the range increase to around 1000 km, I would buy an EV. NorthVolt stated that they expect 1000 km range batteries within the next 3-4 years.
your right, but that's because competition is driving innovation in the EV world , compared to the ICE world where improvements came outs so slowly you could sometimes buy a 10 year newer model and get almost no measurable improvement in power or efficiency or features. If your buying a car and so concerned about resale value you shouldn't be looking at new cars at all.
A heavy car for it's size. Hired both versions and both bodystyles, going into a corner a little too fast in sweden (c40 single motor) and I nearly lost it (understeer)
☝️😏.. new battery technology coming as the Electric Viking has said over & over,, WAIT 5 year's or so before buying an EV. Anything you buy now will be worthless in a few years..

Tbh xc40’s design seems to be better than ex30…

Happy to see Volvo making significant improvements to their EVs.
Not happy to see it does not use LFP batteries. Big disappointment.

Are you going to launch of ex30 in Bangkok?
This was the first EV I test drove. I really like the car. But the range (and transmission hump) were why I decided against it.

Same with computers and storage/memory/CPU. People still buy laptops, it's not a "problem".

Weight is not the issue, it’s the boxy shape.
No LFP in 2023. is a nogo.
While tesla is about to release their 2nd gen LFP battery in the new M3 highland and probably also CT
Cheers mate
Did I miss something, What's the cost
Afternoon mate

I assume you had such situation because of the front wheel drive, and that’s why I’m confused to buy or not an older FWD version with discount
The new ones are great, but no flat floor in the back. So dumb for a family car
有比亚迪为什么要买沃尔沃
From £47,500
Is useing Chinese company beatty? (like BYD or CATL)if that real im not gonna buy it :[
Putting the word recharge on a volvo seems to me to be devaluing the brand😢
i love the car but is not LPF, sorry.
