Just so people know. It's called the Well because underneath parking level6 in D/C building there is a approximately 40' diameter well that goes down around 150' to allow Lake Ontario to fill this well. This water is used in a process called enwave that uses the lake water to heat and cool many buildings in the DT core. It was really something to see when I was building this place back in 2020/2021.
The thing you're referring to is actually a tank that acts as a thermal battery and is fed by Enwaves existing Deep Lake Water Cooling system. Still a very cool system, but not a well.
Great video showcasing The Well! I found an article that shows it's named The Well because (1) it is on Wellington Street, and (2) there is an underground thermal well that heats and cools the surrounding buildings.
My first thought was Wellington Street, the Arcadia Earth is something that is similar to some areas of Japan....cool about the well info provided here...thanks
Hot damn. Didn't know Toronto got this - it looks amazing! Will have to come and visit from Hamilton. Thanks for the honest, chill, and family oriented introduction to the Well
Loved this place. You're right, the footway-bridges as well as indoor-outdoor mixed design makes this feel very "VERTICAL", in the sense that as you walk around, suddenly new views open around the corner. I do wish the designs were more ornate though, haha, but the archways at least makes it a stand out from just boxes and rectangles. And hope they have more unique business there like some artisanal arts and foods stores, instead of just trying to make a generic mall. Great video, agree with your points overall.
I'm really happy to see Isabella's doing well. I remember when they had the single boutique restaurant in the East end of the beaches. I went there a few times and I loved every time. When they closed down I was really sad because the owners were so kind and friendly. Knowing that they only shut down the restaurant to focus on the mochi donuts makes me a lot happier to know that they're keeping their dream alive! Also I like how you called it the Skydome instead of the rogers center. I will never call it rogers center. Ever. It will forever be the Skydome in my mind
Ohhh! I've been eyeing this place from the GO train everytime I come downtown! This vid is great cus now I'm definitely going to make a point of checking it out
It's called the Well because it has a massive underground well beneath the complex used for thermal cooling and heating - part of Toronto's deep lake cooling throughout the downtown. This is by far the coolest - pun intended - part of the whole project! I can't believe you missed that during your research.
The Well is an enjoyable space to walk through for a stroll and see the shops. Another positive is if you have young kids and need a place to take them afterwards, there is the Canoe Landing Community Recreation Centre, which has a fantastic indoor play space. It's only a 10/15 min walk south.
You were right. The Well is named after a well. The complex has a one million gallon tank of water that it sources from deep in the lake. It is a very unique HVAC system that uses cool water from the lake.
It would be helpful for you to mention the prices of things for us that live in the GTA. The Arcadia Earth thing is pricey at $39 for one adult admission.
They did have outdoor heaters in the winter and seemed to be really setup for outdoor lounging in the cold. There were 2 separate licensed outdoor patios with heating prior to the Market opening up. I agree that the food at the market is average at best and severely overpriced. We live next door and have tried most of the places by now and nothing has wowed us. Great architecture though!
ooh this was well made, makes me wanna check it out on my next day off lol.. especially the food court. & yeah szechuan is in many malls, whenever i'm in square one that's my go-to restaurant
I did the glass in one of these buildings. word on site was that it was built over an old well, or some sort of underground water source or something, hence the name. that's what I heard from the pipe guys working in the basement.
I also understood the name "the well" as in a water well, almost like a watering hole where all the animals congregate at. So it symbolizes community in my view
I hate malls and shopping, but this looks cool. A cool place to wander through. I didn't appreciate the food segment. We can come to our own opinions in regards to the food. I will check it out next time I pass through Toronto on my way home.
its cool but im dying for a place with some beautiful architecture more reminiscent of old toronto. these modern builds bore me to death and suck out the joy of a sunny day.
Personally I think I like it the way it is. If they did enclose the whole thing than it would just be a mall. I think leaving it open air gives it some atmosphere and connection to the rest of the city. Obviously during the winter it's not going to be as comfortable, but stores and restaurants on the regular city streets seem to do just fine so I don't see why The Well can't be successful as it is now. I guess that's my two cents lol. What's your take on it??
correct me if i'm 'wrong'...but are Most of these 'food establishments'....Franchises?? i have nothing against them....but i like 'Supporting' more of the 'independent'...food places!.....possibly some 'videos' on that as well.... Love your entertaining / informative places to Go..!!!! cheers!
The lower Well area is beautiful. But the condos and commercial buildings above are eyesores that that have completely stolen the view from the King/Portland to King/ Niagara neighbourhoods. As usual the city and developers are just approaching development in cannibalistic way, high rises everywhere to point that no one will be able to see the CN tower.

Situated near some of the worst intersections in Toronto, Wellington and Portland, Spadina and front st. And Bathurst and front. Is The Well. Once you get there it’s a great location. But leaving.. you’ll be stuck in traffic for hours. Drive west on Wellington to Portland and you’ll witness an embarrassment of Toronto’s city planning, why they haven’t installed a traffic light, is pure negligence. On a daily pedestrians get hit by cars just trying to make it through that intersection. Down at front st and Bathurst you could be sitting there for hours until you make your turn, only to sit in more congestive traffic. With a poor layout, and negligence to install traffic lights and cross walks. The Well is beautiful but the intersections surrounding it are a nightmare
Sounds great, but getting through the worlds third most congested city, Toronto makes this location a No, go for most outside of the main core of Toronto.🇨🇦
I’m outside the city core and I find taking the go train/ subway a relaxing and easy way to navigate the city. I don’t like driving in the city either but there’s alternatives!
Really good video. I am a resident here and have to say a year later I'm over it. Very pretentious and over priced. Im glad I'm leaving Toronto and Canada. It's got worse since I arrived here.

came to comments to share this. I toured a couple units in the well residences, and this was something our leasing agent shared.
This massive, gaping hole in the ground was literally visible on Google Maps leading up to the construction of the project
@@adamp1440 I thought the name comes from Wellington St running North of the building
Really some cool stuff
Sky Dome for Life! Nice walk through, I agree we need more spaces like this in the city!
It will always be the skydome to me! Thanks for watching.
Thanks for calling it the ‘Skydome’😊
Great video showcasing The Well!

Ya someone else mentioned the underground well also. I didn’t come across that when I was making the video but interesting to know. Thanks!
I Love Toronto as a recent visit, the markets and diversity as a City is amazing!

You’re welcome! Enjoy your visit. And check out Waterworks food hall down the street while you’re in town.
Beautiful and unique mall. I'm visiting Toronto soon and I'll check this place out.
Riocan is one of the best developers in Canada.
Glad you showed it.
Beautiful structure.

I agree. It would be nice to see unique retailers in there and not the same stores you find in regular malls.
Oh I am definitely going to visit The Well soon after watching this. Thanks for a very good walkthrough and description.
Glad you liked it! Thanks for watching and enjoy your time at the well.
They have an amazing gorgeous rooftop restaurant! love it there.

Skydome forever!
Amazing to find another Toronto creator!
Nice job! I need to try it out. Oh, and thanks for calling it 'Skydome' :)
It will always be the skydome to many of us!
NGL I forgot they even call it the "rogers center" now. Skydome for life.
Thank you for this thorough and honest review!
Thanks for watching!
Props on SkyDome 🤗
Ohhh! I've been eyeing this place from the GO train everytime I come downtown! This vid is great cus now I'm definitely going to make a point of checking it out
Worth checking out for sure!
Thanks for the post, will definitely be taking the fam to visit 🎉
That’s great to hear. Check out Waterworks food hall too. It’s just down the street and there’s some good food options for kids.

Thanks man. A part of my city I never knew existed and I live like 20minutes walk away.
You’re welcome and thanks for watching
Last year Toronto winter was minimal and I expect this year to be the same so the well should be fine year round
Watching this from the Well! I thought the name was in reference to Wellington street.
Came for the Well, nice to see this video doing well Mark
Thanks Jerney!
You were right. The Well is named after a well. The complex has a one million gallon tank of water that it sources from deep in the lake. It is a very unique HVAC system that uses cool water from the lake.
Wondering what this place is all about, thanks for your insight. I appreciate the various angles that you took of the place, very artistic.
Thank you!
I think it might be called "The Well" because it straddles Front and Wellington. :-)
Yes that’s the origin. But they leaned into the wellness aspect in some marketing
Me too.
It would be helpful for you to mention the prices of things for us that live in the GTA. The Arcadia Earth thing is pricey at $39 for one adult admission.
This video is done really good. Really good information as well. I subscribed watching this video.
Great to hear! Thank you

Just found your channel and I think you're going to become my new Toronto tour guide 🧡🌿
Amazing that’s great to hear. Plenty more Toronto videos coming up. Thanks for watching!
looks like a cool spot for photo shoots

I’ve been wanting to go here! Thanks for this
Awesome “date night” spot!
your video/photo skills are amazing, a 5-7 min small tunnel you made it look its a huge mall.
interested to see how it plays out during winter seasons
Also yes!! Toronto finally gets a new tourist spot 😂❤
I drive by this place all the time. Always wondered what it was. Is there a parking lot for it? Might check it out :)
Wellington Market embodies the essence of Toronto: "Meh, I could get the same thing somewhere else for cheaper."
Idk its also a Toronto thing to complain and moan about everything good
This place will be added to the list for the annual trek to the open air asylum known as downtown Toronto.
Subscribed when you said Skydome! Great video and inspirational for content creators such as myself!
Haha thanks!
I gave you a thumbs up, just for calling it SkyDome! 2 thumbs up if I could!
Haha thanks!
Whoa Gus Tacos. 😂 I guess Gus Fring got some pointers from
Lalo Salamanca
its cool but im dying for a place with some beautiful architecture more reminiscent of old toronto. these modern builds bore me to death and suck out the joy of a sunny day.
Wow this video was amazing
Thanks you!
Great video!
Is the well connected to the Path? Thanks for your video.
no
Do you think they should have totally enclosed the walkway areas in glass so it was warm year round?
Personally I think I like it the way it is. If they did enclose the whole thing than it would just be a mall. If its cold in the winter is it hot in this muggy summer? Or is walking around at least comfortable?
Your videos give major matt & Gabe vibes
Amazing Video
Thanks!
Toronto has some great shopping malls.
Cool review! Btw, you remind me of a young Joe Flaherty from Second City!
I love Joe Flaherty! Thanks for watching.
Great video! What camera do you use?
Thanks! I shoot with a Sony A7IV and I used a Sony 16-35mm pz f4 lens.
Loved it! Great vid!

Nice video Mark you're going to do well on RUclips no pun intended 😊

is it work going for shopping luxury watches or vintage clothes etc.
informative
This place will be packed next summer once everything is fully opened!
Good Luck. Have you been there? It's a drab wind tunnel. It will be abandoned.
@@johnwindisman2803 Yes I have been there and it will definitely not be abandoned now that Wellington Market has opened up 😉
are these all new buildings? or is it renovated space with new space?
great video
some feedback: i think the background music could be turned down 40-50%
Nice, we (Canada) finally realized people want to actually enjoy a city not just drive in a grid 😂
Nice welcome change but wonder what will happen to it. Seeing another shoppers drug mart didnt exactly help.
I really like your video❤
Thank you 🙂
Haven’t been to Toronto in 15 years and I don’t miss it, I hear it’s worse than last time I went, this place is going to be hilarious in the winter
"Some of these food places won't last, and they'll get replaced" *Shows Szechuan Szechuan* Absolutely savage!, lol!

It looks like a McMansion. Tacky, but hey, it has a shoppers drug mart going for it.
So, Science Centre is closed down, as is Ontario Place but hey! A new mall! 😂
GUS Tacos (queen west location, not at the well) are the best tacos in the city. hands down.

You didn’t try east tea can ? You should . I guess it’s an Iraqi 🇮🇶 food chain
It’s so vibrant and colourful….🥴
why is it so dark and drab?
Because it’s made in Ontario, Canada, everything looks like that here.
@@12thhouse4thhousevibesToo hater-like, Ontario is known for its greenery and beauty. I love it here, even if we do have our downfalls :)

I put my hands on the construction of The Well. It seems that it was not long ago.
It looked like there was still a few finishing touches being done when I visited.
I spent 3 years working on the well... it was an experience
The Well = WELLington street

Crinkle fries used in poutine?! Blasphemy!
I find it very dark and cold. Not a well designed location imo.
I dont go to Toronto anymore
Traffic
Traffic
Traffic!

“The Well” 🕳️ is right. So dark and exposed to extreme cold and hot. Toronto is not a fine place at all and has not been.
I hope they know that there is a chain of gay bars called "The Well". Looks like they took a copyrighted name.
Its not doing Well
