Wow! I remember seeing Information Society like 4 days after this CD was released in 1992. At that time, Top 40 stations in weak markets, like Memphis, were catering their playlists to the non-rap, non-dance crowd. I'm glad I finally get to see this video.
As silly as it sounds, hearing this song radically changed my life. Prior to it my musical tastes almost exclusively revolved around heavy metal. Within a couple years I was hunting down techo releases, hitting NYC techno/dance clubs (Limelight, The Shelter, Webster Hall, etc.), and had cut my hair (which had grown to waist length) short. It also made a huge change in the kinds of people I met. It's crazy thinking about how quickly that all happened.
ahhh, more high school memories! i love this song still. it's a good blend of new-wave/almost ravey. reminds me of countless nights of playing Nintendo when I should've been doing homework ;-)
Yes excellent! And I'll say the opposite, that after Running this is Infosoc's very best track! And maybe it's their best video. There's a ton of stuff going on it and it fits the record perfectly. Slammin!
UBIK is a great book - it's everywhere! ;) (have you seen Scanner Darkly?) i remember this song from an underground club in the 80's, cool finally seeing the video for it.
thanx Mass25 for posting this video. Ive never seen the video to this song before. I must admit it was my least favorite song from this group, but I can learned to like it. lol
Several years ago, the PBS program "Frontline" ran an episode entitled "The Merchants of Cool", about the entertainment industry, and there was some mention of Insane Clown Posse, and how the record company went to exploit their anti-establishment image, using it as just another marketing tool...
I guess my comment was misinterperated. I'm merely agreeing with Paul, Jim and Kurt on the song's subject matter- that we are looked upon by corporations as a "PRODUCT" or a "MARKET" and NOT INDIVIDUALS. This is true moreso today than when this song came out. A society can be split into "markets" or "segments" just by observing the products that we "consume". Or what "Mindset" can be sold to the masses. ie: Political Correctness for example.
Another title for this song could have been "Divide And Conquer". (From a corporate stand point). Hey, let's all express our "individuality" and buy Scion vehicles!
Add info Intercept===="1990's. Very prophetic. Information Society equals Internet which you are seeing now 2008 just like the vids of Modern Talking(Cp, computer chat, voip, networking sites)....you tube...."====To be continued====....
These guys came up with such cools sounds. There was so much cheesy dance crap at this time that sucked. Shame they kinda died out. I thought they would have done more and were ahead of their time.
The subject matter in this video has unfortunately- thanks to global marketing- reached world wide "epidemic" levels, just look at which countries have allowed "Corporate America" to infect them.
...I heard this song back in high school, and liked it, but thank God I never saw this horrible video, because the video itself is in the same vein, it just plays into the hands of the very social controllers that want people mesmerized by insipid techno music, and high on ecstasy...
One of the best music videos of all time, definately.
So glad I found this! I remember dancing to this on Saturday nights back in the 90's at Connections in Louisville!

Technically the '90s, this was what, '92 when it came out? But I know what you mean. There's good music now too, but it's different.
generic, deviated septum sounding "techno" but I had it on a mix tape years ago, so I'm kinda nostalgic for it
good*stuff :)
this song came out in 1992
This is from the early 90's though, I think.

why they keep deleting this video?
Mais de uma década e o clipe e a música ainda detonam muitos novos por ai.
E esses teen gringos ficam falando do cabelo... =P

antigamente as músicas das discotecas eram legais....tinham vocais, refrões...agora, porcaria de bate estaca!
