Our Simple Adventures thank you. For your prompt response I took it there no codes at all I have changed the starter, the ignition, the alternator, the battery, the spark plugs Ive changed also the catalyst converter But still facing the same problem.
Mine ended up being a rebuilt PCM computer for the car(controls engine and transmission). Had racing hydraulic fan(5.7l engine), engine shut off after 5 seconds, transmission went into "limp mode"(3rd gear maximum). They get solder connection corrosion inside, over time.
This problem is many Grand Cherokee 2006_2010. Overheating in the automatic transmission causes the same problem as the transmission. The PCM gives a false reading when starting the car, everything is fine, but when the engine is turned off and the car is started, the transmission selects 3 instead of D. But everything is fine in the car. The solution to this problem is to change the PCM with a good one.
I am having the same issue. My 07 Jeep Commander won't turn over even though I drove it yesterday. lights/radio still work, but says Transmission Over Temp. It happened last year and thought it was a starter issue and that was back in January 2020. Any advice?

how do you get a frozen rusted bolt off to remove the thermostat housing? I have tried everything but bolt wont come off. It looks smaller than a 8MM by the way. The 8MM is just spinning around, probably worn down the bolt trying to take it off.

You have to bleed the coolant system that’s why it was overheating The thermostat was getting stuck due to an air bubble in the system and you fixed the problem by putting a failsafe thermostat that stays open when it overheats You bleed by opening the bolt stuck on the top radiator hose and waiting till coolant comes out then closing it it takes like 2 minutes to fix the problem
I have a similar issue. My mom was driving it on the highway and it cut off on her from it overheating then I noticed it’s spray marks coming from the top radiator hose. Do you think it’s the thermostat?

There is coolant still in the system, it seems to drain to a certain level then stop. It still has plenty in the reservoir. Do you have any advice for this?
@@donovanclay1917 The transmission doesn't have a pulley. It's probably the Water Pump. Great video, here are my thoughts with my jeep I have a 2005 - 5.7 engine with 160k miles, and this is how I fix the problem when it comes up. The "Trans Over Temp" usually comes up when I'm driving and mostly during the summer. I replaced the trans fluid and filter about 20K miles ago and that never fixed the issue. Currently the color is pink and it is at the correct level. My fix = pull over stop the jeep, put it in Park and turn it off for 5 seconds. Start the jeep again the problem goes away. SO - the message is not accurate, it is an electrical or computer/software problem. The other issue is: The jeep starts for about 2 seconds and it shuts off. ( service 4x4, check gauges, etc etc) My fix = Connect my OBD code reader and delete any codes, check for codes again, if no codes come up, turn the ignition OFF, remove the key, open the driver door and wait 1 to 3 mins. Start the jeep again and that problem goes away and I'm able to drive again. Not a permanent fix, but at least it won't leave me stranded and /or getting a tow truck. I use the app Torque Pro ($5) and the wireless OBD adapter that works with Torque($15) You can buy one at Autozone or amazon... just make sure it works on Jeeps. Here is the order I would replace parts if I had the money: 1- New starter ($170) from autozone and it is very easy to replace. 2- New key ignition/tumbler = dealer needs to do this as they need to reprogram a new set of keys but it is pricey...about ($700) 3- New computer which is also about ($700) My Jeep is too old for me to put money into it. For now, I'll keep clearing the codes when it won't start. And reboot or restart the computer/car when the Trans Temp message comes up. Feliz Navidad and happy 2021 everyone.

Great video, here are my thoughts with my jeep
I have a 2005 - 5.7 engine with 160k miles, and this is how I fix the problem when it comes up.
Here is the order I would replace parts if I had the money:
1- New starter ($170) from autozone and it is very easy to replace.
2- New key ignition/tumbler = dealer needs to do this as they need to reprogram a new set of keys but it is pricey...about ($700)
3- New computer which is also about ($700)
My Jeep is too old for me to put money into it. For now, I'll keep clearing the codes when it won't start. And reboot or restart the computer/car when the Trans Temp message comes up.
Feliz Navidad and happy 2021 everyone.

never scrape metal on metal
Why not?
If it was thermostat your engine would over heat before your transmission would
The thermostat fixed it and the engine wasn't overheating. Thanks Ray!
You put the new thermostat in the wrong way
Lol thanks Ira!
@@OurSimpleAdventures good thing I didn't use this video as a guide in putting mine in sheesh😅 can't afford a mistake right now
