This is a really impressive title. I like how smoothly the characters are animated, the background/level design and the music. The narrative is good, especially with the NES limitations.
Wow damn I never knew about this game, this appears to be one of those hidden gems from the NES era. This game has a pretty good story, pretty good gameplay and pretty sweet music to boot!
This game was kinda of a legend among my friends. We saw it once on a rental store and some guy at school said he played and it was the better game he ever played. But we never saw it again on the store. Typical 90's thing lol
Sweet game - great animation, nice graphics and a decent story to go along with it. Not bad at all, would be a minor classic of sorts if it was released in the west.
This is without a doubt one of the hidden gems of nes, which I was lucky enough to play in my childhood. Now with the translation, and being able to understand the story, confirms that it is one of my favorites.
neat gaming by JohnX895! it does have nice graphics, surprisingly fluid animation which includes some parallax scrolling & alright music, but the real kicker in this very underrated gem of a game is how deep & developed the sdtiry is. sure, the dialogue can get quite cheesy at times, but overall the writing & pacing is surprisingly complex for an NES game, especially coming from a lesser-known game developer like HECT!

It could be a great game, if not a lot of things, like: all the items collected in previous level disappears, bad weapon with which you can't defeat normally the bosses, the invincibility for 5 seconds, mostly in the places where it is not needed...
I just picked up an awesome English repro cart of this game for $30 at the retroworld expo! It's a great game! It's like Peter Pan meets a mixture of gameplay from prince of Persia/ninja gaiden! The cinematic cutscenes will blow you away! It's a very challenging action platformer with unlimited continues to back it up. The only thing thing that pissed me off is that you can upgrade your knife to a longer range attack/get a double jump/build your health to up to 5 heArts of damage from 3. You collect all these power ups but if you die you lose it all! That's understandable but when I made it to the end of the level and beat the boss and did all that work to get 100% powered up; you automatically lose everything anyway to start the next level and have to do it all over again. Now that's the only complaint I have with this game. You should be able to keep it all if you don't die....besides this stupidity this is an awesome game worth buying if you have a famicom or can find a repro cart.
Man pfhuck this game, the people who made this either did not play test this mess or they are just sadists. It looks nice and has a bit more story then most nes games, but its so unforgiving with the mechanics. Boss battles require frame perfect inputs, and ricky turns so frickin slow. And lets be honest, did anyone beat this piece of krap back in the day on the famicom?
I downloaded this game and played it on an emulator cause I was curious about it. This game has nice cutscenes, but the controls are awful. Ricky sort of throws his momentum wherever he runs and it's really awkward. Sometimes he doesn't grab onto ledges when you jump and you fall to your death. Also, where's the stratgey in the 3rd boss fight? You just trade blows. Stupid game that looks like it could be fun, but it's not.
I’m having this same experience... is the rom bad or something? The controls are TERRIBLE. The concepts are interesting, but it has some of the most infuriating controls I’ve ever experienced. The ledge-hanging... it works like 25 percent of the time, and mostly only when you don’t want it to. The floor is made of butter. The little man slips and slides all over the place and acts like he has Tourette’s. It’s so fucking horrible I can’t believe it. All these people saying the controls are great, maybe it’s the emulator that’s bad??
You must be terrible at games. The controls are great. It's not a mario style game. It's more like a cinematic platformer. Go play Oddworld Abe's Oddysey to see what I mean, it's a game like that. Or like the original Prince of Persia game. It's super easy to control, and when you get the jumping boots you can double jump which trivialises a lot of the platforming.
Game looks really good, but I could do without the story bits. It's, actually something I dislike about 16-bit (especially SNES) titles, the forced story elements. The quicker I'm in the actual game, the better.
This is a really impressive title. I like how smoothly the characters are animated, the background/level design and the music. The narrative is good, especially with the NES limitations.

Don't let these longplay videos fool you, this game is insanely hard. Like, it can stand alongside things like Ninja Gaiden hard
Difficulty or not, it's still a good game. Don't lei AVGN influence you.

My god the animation on this is so smooth!
This game was great back in the days. A really diamond in the nes library...

@mulambolipe It had a public preview. In other words, the rental stores had to return the game to Nintendo!!!
Very fluid animation and those cutscenes + the Castlevanish style, nice hidden gem

This game deserves a remake... the story can be really interesting as Castlevania.
Wow, smooth animations like this are even uncommon on snes!
Increíble juego. Animación, desafío, gráficos. La verdad una joyita
This is easily some of the, if not the smoothest animation I've seen in an NES game. Most impressive.

The story of this game is really dark. I felt really sorry for Rosina. Also, you basically have human trafficking / slavery in this li'l Famicom gem.
Looks like a GBC tittle made in 1992. Awesome.
It's like a cross between Ninja Gaiden and Prince of Persia. When I reach the switch activated gates, I'm done.
This could honestly pass as an early genesis/mega drive game
I've never heard of this game!

Amazing game!
was this title released on North America?
Does someone have the U.S. version of this game (Licensed by Nintendo of America Inc. version) translated in English?
I just picked it up at the retroworld expo in Wallingford, Connecticut on Saturday. I got it for $30 and it was being sold for $40
+susanfit47 Nope. This game never made it stateside.
There's an English version, it's probably a fan translation
Playing it now stuck on level 6
