love this idea. pretty much every pitch effect for turning mono into poly is "realtime" and has some granular elements. but simple speed change will always sound better for synth oneshots.
Exactly, but I'm sure this technique could be extended with a few clever tricks, including improved pitch shifting technology. Thinking of how smooth Melodyne is, which is already over 20 years old. I'm happy with my clunky patch though.

Very different, as I don't process the signal at all, apart from playing it back at a slower rate.
