This movie is one of my favourite disaster films of all times. The pure heart and natural energy of the world in a crisis like this is something I always appreciate in a movie. I had a great time watching this along with you!❤
@@OfficialMediaKnights If memory served, it was released in theaters for about 2 weeks during COVID and then ended up on MAX shortly thereafter (that's where I saw it)... Another film impacted by COVID, unfortunately.
I like the positive ending, it's the magic of cinema. Because in real life, following an event like that, the amount of debris and dust in the atmosphere would cause a nuclear winter that would potentially last for undreds of years and it is very likely that the survivors will never come out of the bunkers and will die of hunger or asphyxiation.
I was gonna say, that ending is pure cinema “we want a happy ending”. A planet killer bigger than the one that wiped out the dinosaurs wouod wipe out 99% of all life, create a nuclear winter type effect that would last decades, drop the temp of the planet to freezing temps and choke everything. If the bunker wasn’t stocked for 30+ years of rations, water, filtration, etc. no one survives. Basically the planet would reset, heal over a very long period of time and something else would eventually rise to rule the planet. Either way, humanity’s time on earth would come to an end.

@@OfficialMediaKnights Dantes Peak is a favorite of mine. So is The Core. Awesome Disaster movie. The science might not be accurate, but its a really fun watch.
Highly recommend Don’t Look Up. A great companion piece with Greenland. The ending always makes me teary-eyed and a great Leonardo DiCaprio performance.
I was bummed out that we didn't get to see the planet killer properly at the end but the budget is just 35 Million dollars, so it makes sense. I gotta say, rewatching it with you guys, I appreciate the film more now. It's heavy and serious where, in order to make up for a lack of disaster sequences (the film still gives you a decent amount), it focuses on the characters and that works really well. In reality it would have been even worse probably. And when the full comet Clarke actually made impact - oh boy. I'm sure you've probably watched videos about what would happen if a giant comet or asteroid hit the Earth or searched what would happen. It's not pretty that's for sure. On the impact side, instant incineration for the entire impact/blast zone - literally vaporizing everything. Then the shockwave itself would obliterate everything for 10,000 miles or more, not many structures would survive but it wouldn't destroy everything of course. I could go on, but again I'm sure you've read about it etc. Greenland did a terrific job showing some of what really would happen in this sort of scenario. And its mind blowing because it WILL happen again. A "planet killer" will come along one day, whether it's 10 years from now, 100, 10,000 or a million years away. I wonder if humans will be around to see it though, at this point I doubt it. But if we are, maybe we'll be advanced enough to actually protect the planet. Maybe.

The sequel Greenland: Migration will be released in early 2025. It is really interesting since we don't really see many movies about what happen after these apocalyptic events.
This has got to be the best reaction channel i have seen. I have been binge watching all your videos since i found you about 2 months ago. Loving the videos. Keep up the good work and Happy Holidays......
Some of you remember Deep Impact, Mimi Leder's movie from 1998? Well, this is not a remake or reboot of it, but an update of those idea: ordinary people in the same extraordinary circumstance: a comet's fall threatening planet Earth. But where Deep Impact paid tribute to the famous disaster movies from the 70s, Greenland forget that to set the story in the 21st century, with all that implies. It's a great movie to me. And Gerard Butler is the ultimate version of the action hero. Pure talent on screen.
One thing that this movie gets completely right compared to other end of the world movies, is that it realistically portrays how individuals, social circles, and societies would act once everyone knows that the end is nigh.
Horror/Suspense: Cry Wolf, Along Came A Spider, Final Girls, The Shallows or You’re Next Comedy: The New Guy, Guess Who, Just Go With It, Pump Up The Volume or Just Married Tearjerker: Midnight Sun, John Q, A Walk To Remember, 5 Feet Apart or Charlie St Cloud Feel-Good(ish): We Bought A Zoo, Patch Adams, Instant Family, Parental Guidance or Serendipity Action: Negotiator, Enough, No Escape, Air Force One, The Italian Job or Double Jeopardy Disaster: San Andreas, Hard Rain, Geostorm, Night of the Comet or Armageddon True Story: Miracle Season, The Mighty Macs, Courageous, Miracles from Heaven or Only the Brave Animated: Rio, Turning Red or Brother Bear
I'm so glad y'all did this one! This movie was one of the few disaster flicks that focused more on the realistic fears of an individual during a disaster rather than the enormous world-ending wreckage. And somehow that made it 10 times worse! Yet they still gave us a happy ending. ❤
If you liked this, also watch Deep Impact! Quite similar but less action and a lot more social commentary on how society might react to such an event. Very underrated movie!
This movie wrecked me in an unexpected way as it chose to focus on this family and the human aspect of the end of the world scenario instead of the disaster part. It feels real and tragically nightmarish. Moments where strangers are no longer just people, they are a lifeline or your enemy. I had one end of the world dream with feelings of despair that this movie somehow managed to replicate.
Next one could be Deep Impact and/or Armageddon. Fun fact, they came out the same year! Also, yes, this film is underrated. There's no action-packed plan to blow the comet up, it's just coming, it's inevitable and only a handful people are selected to survive. It's raw, brutal and frighteningly realistic. And seeing the satellite image of the impact thinking "well, my country had just been wiped off the face of the planet" was pretty eerie. By the way, a sequel for Greenland is in development 😄 Not another comet, but it's supposed to be another journey. Oh, and have a Merry disaster-free Christmas, guys! 😄🎄
Yes they did few months apart. I believe it was a real life moon distance away fly by of a small asteroid they didn't tell anyone about the year before that was inspiration
I usually enjoy Gerard Butler movies. I usually don't expect a masterpiece, but a solid Saturday evening popcorn flick and I'm consistently satisfied. Plane was another of his that was fun but I've not met someone who has seen it yet.
love love love Plane!!!! The best part of A-listers kinda getting older and I guess not as marketable in later years is they end up doing kinda straight to DVD or Netflix movies that are incredible gems!!!
Just an FYI, there’s a sequel coming out next year, Greenland: Migration, with Butler and Baccarin reprising their roles, though the kid appears to have been recast.
Films like this are a good way to remind people to have an 'emergency kit'. Nothing too serious: a multitool, a steel container to boil water and cook, rain gear, first aid, 550 paracord, etc. Also, nice to see Holt McCallany, haven't seen him since Fight Club.
Greenland is like a lesson to Roland Emmerich. The gap between Ric Roman Waugh's movie and the soulless 2012 is almost scary. Emmerich completely forgot he had to tell a story about people, he got lost in the CGI. Waugh's film is a disaster film about a big ass meteorite, but what matters most is the characters. I'm curious to see what the sequel will look like... but something tell me that the kid won't be played by the same actor, and that kinda worries me because the kid actor in Greenland is pretty awesome.
I was one who suggested this film. The human element of this movie makes it really stand out. The end of the world should FEEL like the end of the world and not just a summer blockbuster. Certainly you could argue there is a time and place for both sides... but this stands out for me. Speaking of suggestions. I am once again suggesting that you guys pick up the Interview with the Vampire series. IMO its the best show on TV right now. The writing and acting are INSANE.
One of the better, realistic disaster flicks out there! ❤ Although it still suffers from the typical tropes Marital strife or conflict and a kid that has some sort of medical condition.
Bruh… WHY YALL NOT RECOMMENDING “Knowing” w/ Nicolas Cage?!?! They wanna watch good disaster film and that one is like top 3 all time. WATCH “KNOWING” (2009)
It was delayed by the pandemic and I watched it as soon as it hit streaming. I was pleasantly surprised by how good it was and the collapse of society portrayed here was very timely for what we were going through with covid lockdowns.
Such an underrated movie, but definitely my favorite disaster movie, it really shows the reality of humanity in an event like this, every time I watch it it has me at the edge of my seat as if I didn’t know how it ends already 😭 I heard they were making a part 2 for 2025, so can’t wait!!
YESSSS IVE BEEN WAITING PATIENTLY! this is so exciting, im watching your reaction right now. This is a fantastic sleeper disaster film! I hope you guys enjoyed this one!
I just love it when a movie is able to give me something new and the countdown for the Shockwave-Impact was something I never imagined before and also the first time after years that a movie gave me goosebumps. Spiral Out and may the Force be with you 🤘😝🔥
Movie is trully a gem. This movie is actually scary because the concept of it is more realistic, knowing that this can really happen again and maybe worse than that one that killed the dinosaus and changed the planet💀😬
It's great because it's so ground level. No heroes trying to blow up the comet, we don't even know half the time what's going on because the characters don't.
Greenland is warm Iceland is glaciers I think you guys are the first to react to this one. I watched maybe a year after. You all are right. I think it was a sleeper because of it released in 2020
Oh man, I'm so glad you guys reacted to Greenland! No one reacts to this movie for some reason (other than when it came out in 2020 of course, but there's loads more reaction channels now) and it baffles me. One of the most underrated disaster flicks possibly ever. And the fact it's good, well made, scientifically accurate (more or less, obviously some stuff was fudged for dramatic purposes, but it's mostly pretty spot on) and has really good emotional acting backed up by a pretty solid script = amazing disaster drama. They've been making a sequel for a couple years now (I think they just finished filming it recently for release sometime next year) so I'm really curious how that's going to go. Is it going to be a rebuilding movie (and maybe another comet comes along to finish the job? lol) or take place parallel to this story from another family's perspective? Who knows? I can't wait though. This movie and San Andreas need more reactions. Both are incredibly well made and good disaster movies that don't get any love really. At this Greenland is getting that sequel. San Andreas's sequel has been in development hell since the movie made mint at the box office. And The Rock has said he wants to do it, so I'm not sure what's stopping that one. Anyways, thanks for this reaction. Always a good time having one of my favorite reaction duos react to one of my favorite movies - it just hits different :)
I literally just watched this film for the first time over a month ago, so was super excited to see that you guys reacted to this! Such an underrated movie which hardly anyone (around me ) knows about! My heart broke when mom was separated from her child, and sense of relief when they reunited was palpable. Looking forward to the sequel!
This was SUCH a great movie!! I had heard about it but didn't know much about it. So, one day, I decided to check it out, and I have NOT regretted it. I am also looking forward to the sequel that is coming.
I would like to recommend Children of Men, it's a more grounded and realistic take on the decline and end of humanity. It has fantastic cinematography and a great cast.
Now we NEED "Apocalypto" 2006 directed by Mel Gibson the acting, cinematography, and location made this a masterpiece you two would love it. "Battle Ship" 2012 Directed by Peter Berg (he also did Lone Survivor and Hancock) this one is on the alien invasion side. The Flu 2013 directed by Kim Sung-su it's a Korean film and had me sobbing by the end it's more of a pandemic than disaster movie.
I remember watching this at my grandpa's house when it was live and I will treasure the movie forever because my grandpa mid movie lore dropped how he survived a flood
This movie had the bad fortune of being released during the covid lockdowns. Therefore the box office numbers suffered. I believe it would have been a bigger hit if it released later
Oh my gosh!!!!! This is almost as amazing as Dante’s Peak!!!!! I love this film!!!!!! It’s on the same level as deep impact Thank yall, merry Christmas to me!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
The one thing they never mention is that these large impacts also release EMP so there's no flying around in planes or driving around in cars even your digital watch will stop Working brilliant film highly underrated.
While watching this movie all I could think of was the famous lines from the joker about how when the chips are down, these civilised people will eat each other. How there only as good as the world allows them to be. And you know shit is going down when the joker is right like this
This film surpassed all expectations when I watched it on the premiere. Definitely up there with 2012 and The Day After Tomorrow. Also, if you guys happen to read this 28 days later, it is available again according to the official Sony RUclips channel...
Fun fact: I was stationed at the base this was filmed at, while they were filming it. I know/knew all the military police guys they had filmed. I had considered putting my name up for being in it, but they wanted us to do the filming after working 12hr shifts. I valued my bed more lol Another fun fact: It's a 20 min drive from the gate they entered in at, to the flightline where they were loading up. It would've taken Gerard almost 2hrs to run from the gate to the plane. That was the most unrealistic part of this movie for me 😂
I love disaster movies but I always wish they were a bit longer and showed how they would begin to rebuild. They save nurses and structural engineers and whatever else they think is important, but all the supplies and materials are gone.
@@OfficialMediaKnights The Poseidon Adventure (1972) is by far the better option than the 2006 remake. The original is a classic and has a heart that's just absent from the remake.
@antoniomcmahon3499 in my opinion, while both are really good movies to sit down and enjoy, (I grew up with the original, beyond the poseidon adventure, and the 2006 remake) I feel that the original definitely has more charm over the film from 2006.
@Kardiac I think the reason why I like the 2006 version is because me personally I just watch movies like that because of the action and also, I grew up watching that version. (I'm 17 as of writing this comment, I turn 18 in July.)
27:48 The way that dude bodily picks her entire body weight up and tosses her from the car terrifies me every time. She looks like she weighs like 130 soaking wet. He’s huge. No leverage no weapon no advantage and he just tosses her like a doll. It’s so scary
i held it together emotionally all through the movie until the moment the little boy says "where are the flashes?" he knew this was it, this was the end of his short life, something a child shouldn't have to deal with, then his parents telling him the most important thing, they love each other and no matter what happens they are together.
There are so MANY disaster films that if you were to describe most of them to someone new to the genre you’d probably say something like “Man, you have to watch (fill in the blank) it’s a fun ride!” Whereas with Greenland you’d say something like “MAN, you HAVE to watch Greenland it’s a pretty good film.” I watched this film when it first released on MAX and it’s by far my fav disaster film. As much as I love Independence Day (the sequel doesn’t exist 😏), Armageddon, Deep Impact, The Day After Tomorrow, etc I might even go as far to say it’s the GOAT of disaster films. This movie just has a presence of being much more grounded with less of a comedic vibe than most films in the genre.
Such a great film. The reason why you never heard about this film when it came out is because this was supposed to be the summer blockbuster that came out in 2020, but then covid hit and derailed all of that and as we all know turned everything sideways. A lot of people never heard about this one because of that. They're also working on the sequel right now, hopefully it's as good.

Jen Murray is great. She's so natural, down to earth a d funny plus she's really into music in the films which I like. @@Belladonna313
The sequel Greenland: Migration will be released in early 2025. It is really interesting since we don't really see many movies about what happen after these apocalyptic events.
Migrations? Oh will the democrats be illegally importing the turd world again?
First time he met her mum she was wearing a kilt to make him feel at home, Gerard Butler is actually Scottish too.
You don't know how long i've been waiting for this reaction!!! I'm so excited!!!! 🎉🎉🎉
One thing that this movie gets completely right compared to other end of the world movies, is that it realistically portrays how individuals, social circles, and societies would act once everyone knows that the end is nigh.
Horror/Suspense: Cry Wolf, Along Came A Spider, Final Girls, The Shallows or You’re Next
Comedy: The New Guy, Guess Who, Just Go With It, Pump Up The Volume or Just Married
Tearjerker: Midnight Sun, John Q, A Walk To Remember, 5 Feet Apart or Charlie St Cloud
Feel-Good(ish): We Bought A Zoo, Patch Adams, Instant Family, Parental Guidance or Serendipity
Action: Negotiator, Enough, No Escape, Air Force One, The Italian Job or Double Jeopardy
Disaster: San Andreas, Hard Rain, Geostorm, Night of the Comet or Armageddon
True Story: Miracle Season, The Mighty Macs, Courageous, Miracles from Heaven or Only the Brave
Animated: Rio, Turning Red or Brother Bear
Have they covered True Lies?
cry wolf was soooo good, i love that movie.
I'm so glad y'all did this one! This movie was one of the few disaster flicks that focused more on the realistic fears of an individual during a disaster rather than the enormous world-ending wreckage. And somehow that made it 10 times worse! Yet they still gave us a happy ending. ❤
This movie is so amazing!!!! Super underrated and I'm so excited you guys are watching it finally!!!
Deep impact is a masterpiece… Armageddon is one of the worst apocalyptic films I’ve ever seen
@CerebralTheReal1 Well, Armageddon is definitely not movie of the year, but it had its moments
Yes they did few months apart. I believe it was a real life moon distance away fly by of a small asteroid they didn't tell anyone about the year before that was inspiration
Deep Impact is a great movie. Better than Armageddon in my opinion.
“Don’t look up” is my all time favourite disaster movie
Just an FYI, there’s a sequel coming out next year, Greenland: Migration, with Butler and Baccarin reprising their roles, though the kid appears to have been recast.
Films like this are a good way to remind people to have an 'emergency kit'. Nothing too serious: a multitool, a steel container to boil water and cook, rain gear, first aid, 550 paracord, etc.
Also, nice to see Holt McCallany, haven't seen him since Fight Club.
He is amazing in 'Mindhunter'
Greenland is like a lesson to Roland Emmerich. The gap between Ric Roman Waugh's movie and the soulless 2012 is almost scary. Emmerich completely forgot he had to tell a story about people, he got lost in the CGI. Waugh's film is a disaster film about a big ass meteorite, but what matters most is the characters.
I'm curious to see what the sequel will look like... but something tell me that the kid won't be played by the same actor, and that kinda worries me because the kid actor in Greenland is pretty awesome.
Happy Holidays Media Knights 😁😁 blessings to your cinema household!
Although it still suffers from the typical tropes
Marital strife or conflict and a kid that has some sort of medical condition.
Bruh… WHY YALL NOT RECOMMENDING “Knowing” w/ Nicolas Cage?!?! They wanna watch good disaster film and that one is like top 3 all time. WATCH “KNOWING” (2009)
yes this one is damn good!!
Awesome Movie and Work Guys, Thanks!! Merry Christmas🎄🎁🎁 Greetings from Finland🇫🇮🇺🇸🇫🇮🇺🇸
It was delayed by the pandemic and I watched it as soon as it hit streaming. I was pleasantly surprised by how good it was and the collapse of society portrayed here was very timely for what we were going through with covid lockdowns.
They actually made a sequel to this movie. Its coming out in early 2025. The three leads are returning as is the director and writer.
Been wanting more people to react to this. Such a heart renching and amazing disaster movie.
This was fantastic, they definitely nailed how to convey the emotion and distress!
Just saw your reaction to 2012, was about to recommend this one, good timing u got 😅 you are very fun to watch with
I never understand why anybody would want to survive something like this. Personally I rather get drunk and high and hug my loved ones when it hits.
Yes!!!! Sooooo good. Super low key quiet classic. Love you guys!!
Thank youuuu, much love to you!!❤️❤️❤️
The real natural instinct kicks in, and is really scary, not knowing what we could be capable of in this type of situation for you and your love ones.
It's great because it's so ground level. No heroes trying to blow up the comet, we don't even know half the time what's going on because the characters don't.
Greenland is warm Iceland is glaciers I think you guys are the first to react to this one. I watched maybe a year after. You all are right. I think it was a sleeper because of it released in 2020
i loved this movie so much i rewatched it again straight after it finished. its really keeps you on your toes
Thank you guys so much for reacting to this! One of the more underrated disaster movies that really grips you emotionally.
I love all your reactions. Especially the ones for apocalyptic films. I recommend Interstellar as the next one. It's pretty trippy
Yes! That is among my most favorite movies ever.
I was screaming at the TV :for goodness sake hide the bands and stop telling people you were selected!
It’s on the same level as deep impact
Thank yall, merry Christmas to me!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Merry Christmas, thank you so much for your kindness and support! 🎄 🎁❤️
This was a great movie. Glad you covered it.
Fun fact: I was stationed at the base this was filmed at, while they were filming it. I know/knew all the military police guys they had filmed. I had considered putting my name up for being in it, but they wanted us to do the filming after working 12hr shifts. I valued my bed more lol
Another fun fact: It's a 20 min drive from the gate they entered in at, to the flightline where they were loading up. It would've taken Gerard almost 2hrs to run from the gate to the plane. That was the most unrealistic part of this movie for me 😂
The accountant with Ben Affleck, you would love it
If you haven't seen Uncle buck, i pray you eventually get to it because its a gem that will never be forgotten.
I've watched this movie a couple of times.. but damn..
That final farewell with gramps hits you really hard
great reaction as always btw
I love disaster movies but I always wish they were a bit longer and showed how they would begin to rebuild. They save nurses and structural engineers and whatever else they think is important, but all the supplies and materials are gone.
Still waiting for Contact (1997). 😊
This movie made it so stressful to get from A-Z every step of the way.
Omg seriously, this movie had us stressed tf out!!!
We need a Poseidon (2006) reaction for New Year's Eve!!!
(Also, merry christmas!!!)
Haha we have that one on our list, we're definitely gonna cover it soon!
@@OfficialMediaKnights The Poseidon Adventure (1972) is by far the better option than the 2006 remake. The original is a classic and has a heart that's just absent from the remake.
luuuuv that movie!! im old as hell, lol and love the original but yeah thats my favorite remake for sure!!!
You guys should definitely watch The Creator (2023) and The Tomorrow War (2021)!! They are incredible and both have sci-fi and disaster elements!
Watch unbreakable, then watch split, the watch,Glass
Would love to see you guys reacting to "Knowing" with Nicolas Cage
Definitely gonna react to that one, we heard great things!
Now that's a great shout 🤔😁🇬🇧
I love this film and have watched it several times! So glad to see you guys reacting to it.
if I got selected I don’t think I would be able to leave my pets 😭
i held it together emotionally all through the movie until the moment the little boy says "where are the flashes?" he knew this was it, this was the end of his short life, something a child shouldn't have to deal with, then his parents telling him the most important thing, they love each other and no matter what happens they are together.
