I actually like that she is given more of a compelling tale. I think giving lesser known characters stories like this because Kubo decides who he likes
how often does someone has to state it to you? so far there where only 2 kenpachi, not one more!
I actually like that Roka is being fleshed out in SAFWY. And I think her character’s interesting. After learning what Szayelaporro did to her, this really makes me hate him even more. And he’s just as an asshole than Yammy is. I personally don’t mind of her power copying ability. Gotta thank Kubo for doing something with a background character that I found interest in.
i think its kubos favoritism to scientist characters at work. alot of plot points revolve around science characters be it Mayuri, Kisuke, or Szayelaporro, our man kubo loves his mad scientists. I think it was as simple as "Hey what if i brought back my boi Szay for another showing" or " Mayuri has a female experiment partner Szay as his parallel should to". so he grabbed a face we saw before but dont know anything about and filled it in with sone good old human experimentation. like really Szayelaporro gets some preferential treatment with how much he shows up.
The fact you kept showing her head getting smashed over like 20 times in this video is just funny to me. I know she doesn't have many images but it just shows her circumstances as the weirdest background character somehow getting a novel.

That scene Shows how worthless underlinings are in the eyes of the Espada. You wouldn’t see Kenpachi slice a Squad 4 member in half right after they healed him.
Yammy got a fittingly pathetic death too. Even after his big reveal he was barely a toy for Kenny and Byakuya.

If you stop and think you'll realize that the greatest power in Bleach is essentially to connect with others. Shinigamis evolve by connecting with Zanpakutou, Hollows evolve by forcibly connecting with other souls through consumption, Quincy evolve by connecting with reishi and Fullbringers evolve by connecting with a significant object. The more any soul connects to it's interior and others the more powerful it becomes to the point of transcendence.

She also looks like Ichigos sister Karin also Don Kenonji has always been a joker/side character and what he did was so kind hearted, he’s earned my respect. “Spirits will always be with you” I’d love to see this in the anime as a separate season
What a nightmare she endured. Glad she came out alright in the end and has found a new purpose and perspective on life especially with her allying with Don Kanoji and exposure to the human world.
She reminds me of Momo in this aspect
As stated in the SAFWY's postscript all of the abilities, names, backstories, etc. Narita got directly from Kubo. So it's not Narita using the same ability again, it's Kubo.
I like what Project Mouthwash did with her appearance in their Bleach (S) Abridged series.
Ulquiorra says "Your handiwork is exemplary. I myself am an admirer of the medical science. Perhaps, some day, you and I shall meet for an Arrancar coffee and discuss theories about- Oh she's dead. Why must you break the things I love."

Roka and Don’s bond is very wholesome. I really do like the design of her release form, the spider motif is cool. As is the visual of her weaving the abilities that she has copied.
Pulled her in Brave Souls and was like 'huh, who is this gal?' Then went down the rabbit hole and I'M NOT CRYING YOU'RE CRYING.
You know I thought about this for a long time, Roka along with other interesting Arrancars, I would like them to be part of the new Espadas on the "Good' side with Hallibel as it's queen while the other is the "Bad" Espadas with Barragan as their king, all of them have their Beyond Resurrecion achieved too just like in the game!!
Barragan is dead,.. it should be Grimjow as the "king" who strives to challenge Harribel

Uhmm Hell Arc the Bleach sequel though, so the death of Barragan isn't an excuse anymore, plus I put Grimjow on the good guys team already hehe... 😅
@@oghaze9318 3 year Post timeskip Grimmjow, Neliel, and harribel are all VERY close with eachother in power going by the official translations of the CFYOW novels. It could go either way. Kenpachi asks upon meeting grimmjow if he was stronger then nnoitra. Grimmjow then heavily implies that he is which kenpachi asks "No doubt then ?". Then during the battle with ikimikidomoe when grimmjow releases kenpachi confirms it by saying "So the guy wasn't all talk". Confirming he was above 5th espada level. And harribel herself deemed him a serious threat. There is also a statement from the novels that confirms that 3 year Post timeskip grimmjow was close to or on harribel and Neliels level. Neliel" Normally she would have thought she would need to use everything in her power to stop grimmjow, but it was somewhat unexpected that he would lay down his arms before she needed to intervene". Neliel believed that it would take everything she had to hope to stop post timeskip grimmjow. That is how strong he became. They were all still weaker then barragan, stark, and Yammy. Grimmjow given his lust for power and how far he jumped in power in just 3 years he should be above harribel in the hell arc saga given it's 12 years later. Though given how bleach can be it may not be the case. Kubo may keep the former espada's close in power.

Well that's just a fun idea of mine if ever, I created it as supposed to be a continuation of the Game's Espadas Beyond Ressurecion forms, hence why I made them to form a newly divided team Espadas of good and evil in Hueco Mundo...
As for the Hell Arc, I'm only stating about the return of other dead characters returning including Barragan all thanks to the new Bleach sequel where Granz was even the Jailer of Hell, and becauseof its introduction anything is possible now for the moment!!
When you think about it, Roka using her mask to create a zanpakuto is sorta the reverse of Ichigo. His zanpakuto is essentially a hollow, so it’s like he created a mask from his zanpakuto.
She sounds like an interesting character and its cool learning about her abilities. I really wish I read the light novels but I never had any interest before due to me not liking Bleach's rushed ending.
However, what I found interesting is that there's now ANOTHER powerful arrancar that has powers that are stronger than most if not all the Espada. From the way it's describe in the video, Roka has powers that are on par or at the very least can defeat the strongest arrancar. She can regenerate better than Ulquiorra and can use Mugetsu. Unless there's details I'm missing like she can only use them once, she has unlimited access to this god level power and she can regenerate from injuries as long as there's a backup.
All this new information regarding the arrancar makes the original idea that arrancars 1-10 are the strongest almost pointless, with each new development being a gotcha moment. "The Espada are arrancars 1-10? GOTCHA! It's 0-9." "There are 3 Espada stronger than me? GOTCHA! I have a second form and I'm stronger than I let on." "10 becomes 0 and I'm the strongest. GOTCHA! There's another arrancar that's 100 who becomes 0 and is a stronger 0 than you." "I'm number 1 and I split myself into two beings because I was so strong I was killing others around me and I was lonely. GOTCHA! I'm number 0 and I split myself to become perfect." "I'm the strongest... GOTCHA! There's other people that are the strongest."
I'm not mad at this at all, I just find it funny that the simple idea of ranking the power of the enemy team has so many plot twists to it.
as someone who's always been a big fan of Don kanoji, you telling the story of Roka has been a great reminder of why i love the boy so much. and as someone who loves spiders a lot, Roka in general is a really cool character and she deserves all the best forever and ever
Don Kanonji was always one of my favourite characters, and I was sad when he vanished from the story. I'll be checking this out, it seems like something that gives him a fitting story to end on.
I’m sure in the next lite novel Kubo will reveal that Don Kanonji was the man who mentored Aizen and showed him the truth of the Soul King, setting him on the path of releasing the Soul King from his torturous eternity.

You know, I never read any of these books. She seems like a cool, fleshed out character here. I think It would awesome to animate this, and the other novels to expand the bleach world.
Roka's powers are cool, and I really liked her Ressurecion.
I love Kubo's Arrancar designs. Picaro was another cool creation, albeit with a very tragic backstory.
Your last video made me really curious about this character, especially after you mentioned that she performed Mugetsu, so thanks for the quick follow up!
BTW can't wait for the light novels to reveal the true origin of Fishbone D, who could have been Aizen's right hand man at some point in his life for some reason, cause why not.
I do think it works as well also because yammi testing his arm on her makes a little bit more since when he knew he tested his arm she would come back and everyone was so used to abusing her.

I hope Roka, kid Cien and Ashido make a brief appearance in Hueco Mundo in the Bleach anime. Ashido's fate has bugged me for a long time.

It was sorta filler but I'll admit he had a good story because back then SS didnt know much about Hueco Mundo or Hollows. And I feel his inclusion in the anime fleshed out the setting and environment that is Hurco Mundo. After that segment we dont see much besides flashbacks from the arrancars and Nel I guess

No way it's AMAZING that they can take background characters and make them great. And like you said Roka is amazing.
It’s amazing how new characters are still being made that I can love
I feel like with Gabriel's ability Szayelaporro planned to eventually use it on Cien to enter the copy of his former body to not only prove to himself he's the superior version but perhaps to also regain his memories and former powers while also destroying the copy, becoming once again the Zero Espada without having any influence of his brother whatsoever, Cien wanting to reunite with him and be one again also seem to suggest this - that he was programmed to desire it
I also think he would have killed Roka afterwards for the same reason Cien tried to, to avoid any other copies of himself and his powers to exist, not needing her backups anymore as the "perfect being"
But funnily enough even if there isnt a "perfect being" in Bleach he accidentaly ended up creating something much closer to his and Aizen's idealized version of perfection than what they themselves accomplished - Roka
Even Yamamoto didnt even try to break into those beams because it was impossible, and her webs are made of that
The same Yamamoto even transcendent Aizen feared
She also has the data of Mugetsu stored, the same technique that beat Aizen in his last transformation and that destroyed Cien's power like it was nothing, so big L to both of them
But lastly and more importantly, knowing it or not by creating her he kinda created a better version of Gabriel
She doesnt need to enter other bodies to reincarnate or copy their powers, her webs on their own can rebuild her potentially forever
So long as there is a backup, that there is a Hueco Mundo, she will exists, even if it takes a lot of time for her to be back
Compared to that Gabriel seem like a cheap, inferior copy, which is pretty ironic considering Szayelaporro likely saw her ability as the inferior version - which makes sense since, as Mayuri showed, the Espada kept lying to himself about his contradictory ideals of being a scientist and perfect at the same time, thus likely ignoring any major flaw in his Gabriel ability(like how easily it could be used against him if the enemy's body was poisoned, which is how Mayuri won) and seeing whatever minor flaw in Roka's ability(like how long it takes for her to come back and that the more powerful a copied ability is the more it harms her current body by using it) to say his version was superior
Roka thus is his greatest work, one I think even the shinigami mad scientist would appreciate, and the way Szayelaporro treated her shows all his flaws as a scientist and why he was defeated, first by a better mad scientist, then by his own creation
Stark,Barragan,Harribel,Ulquiorra,Szayel and Yammy are definitely Vasto Lorde hollows. You can tell Yammy is one because of his ability to evolve into new forms not just from his anger but he has to prepare in advance by eating lots of souls, he's like a battery. But he's still a very powerful vasto lorde.
Grimjaw is too the light novels confirm he did eventually evolve into a Vasto Lorde
I really hope that the new Bleach anime adapts this, as someone who has trouble with Novel-type stories in that I just struggle to read imageless stories it would be nice to see it brought to life, that including the other notable novel in CFYOW. I do feel like the anime has the potential to expand on elements like this in the way that Naruto Shippuuden did to a degree (like the wedding of Naruto and Hinata for example). We already know that Kubo is involved and that battles are being expanded on so there is hope.
haven read the novels but just off of what was said in the video she is one of my favorite characters why does the novels feel like they have the best written/fleshed out characters. Thanks for the awesome videos keep them up cant wait for the next season to air.
The novel finally answers the question of why Szayel helped Nnoitra pop-n-drop Nel: She 'irritated' Nnoitra and 'meddled' in Szayel's business. So they set her up for the Okie-Dokie because they both had reasons to "teach her a lesson". It's pretty savage, but at the same time not surprising as they're Hollows at the core.
I like Roka because it's like the tale of an abuse victim, who's been physically, emotionally, mentally abused (if not more than that knowing some Arrancar & Espada), and showing how support found her to help remind her she's a person and is strong.
The Don is an absolute legend, scared ass weakling? Sure, but man still stands up for others even if it's absolute futility.
I can understand the aversion to having this side-character be made a bigger deal in what is essentially "official fan-fiction", but to be fair, I feel like in her circumstances, it makes sense. Of course the one responsible for healing the Espada, even reattaching lost limbs, would be someone at least somewhat special, like, if I were a writer, I'd let an Espada themself play that role, so if someone else takes that role, I'd expect them to be at least about as special as an Espada in terms of origin and ability.
I'd also rather an existing character be used (as long as it makes sense) rather than a character be introduced out of nowhere with no foreshadowing to be this extremely important, pivotal person in the world, leading to some potential plotholes as to where we _should_ have probably seen them in the original story at some point.
Roka could also be inspired by The Spiders Thread by Ryunosuke Akutagawa. Her story and part in Spirits are Forever with You could mirror parts of the Spiders Thread story, not to mention her ability and resurrection
It just goes to show you how the female arrancars tend to have more emotional depth
Ironically telaraña literally means spider thread but it’s the word for spider web

Roka is a very odd choice for sure but not against the idea they used for her, had the manga acknowledged her after this I would not have mind.
I haven't read the light novels yet but I always thought with how Kubo handles it that the novels would be EVEN better ESPECIALLY with pure focus on writing

@@joenaomeke2700 It would also make sense if Yammy did it on purpose. That scene highlights a huge contrast between the soul reapers and arrancars. You wouldn’t see a soul reaper get healed by squad 4 and then immediately kill their healer afterward.
This novel sounds well thought out and well written given the themes I would love to go and purchase these novels when I get the chance

I think it’s cool that her character was fleshed out. I do like the concept behind her abilities and I think it works really well. I agree with you that Tokinada having a similar ability is a bit uninspired I feel he should have been given something else. At the moment Roka is one of my favorite characters to come out of the novels.
I hope that we can get the English version of this light novel some time soon. It sounds interesting as a spin off.

Kubo watching this just got his inspiration for another lite novel
Why can't they reintroduce those two Vasto Lorde hollows we saw in the manga but never showed in the anime. I was convinced Aizen was saving those dudes for the final battle. But I was wrong... But they had creepy designs.

It's nice to know that Don Kanonji has his moments, such a great character that's more than just comic relief
I love this story so much, what a wonderful depiction of a victim of abuse, with a great ending.

Aaroniero Arruruerie the most dangerous villain in bleach.
Let me remind you about what he could do:
1) He devoured thousands of hollows and absorbed their powers;
2) He retained powers and memories of a vice-captain;
3) He still should have had powers of Metastacia (one of which allowed him to resurrect itself in a different location);
4) He could have had consumed all fallen Espada, including Yami;
5) He still had Metastacia's body fusion and Zanpakuto destruction abilities;
6) It earned a rank of an espada despite not even being a vasto lorde, meaning he could have evolved much beyond the power he had when he died;
7) At this point he still is the only character with unlimited potential.
I really hope hell arc returns and gets completed, and I really hope Aanoriero becomes main villain of the arc after consuming sinners, hollows and soul reapers.
Oh, and lets not forget that by absorbing hollows and gaining their power, he also absorber their healing capabilities. Any attack not against his weak spot (his head) most likely would heal instantly, especially after getting empowered in the hell.
The hell arc could feature 7 deadly sins theme and Aaroniero could be gluttony.

Imagine a scenario like this:
1) Grand fisher is in hell and he manages to extract Ichigo's mom's soul fragments from himself, infuse their into his zanpakuto and after absorbing quite some amount of spirit energy (using quicy powers of Ichigo's mom) he become a vasto lorde equivalent of a sinner;
2) Grand fisher releases his blade and it takes a form of Ichigo's mom, but this time she is completely evil and will manipulate Ichigo's son to help Grand Fisher to achieve some evil goal;
3) Ichigo get forced to deal with Grand Fisher and fake-mom, but at the last moment Aaroniero Arruruerie interferes by devouring Grand Fisher and fake-mom, which traumatized naïve Ichigo's son and enrages Ichigo, and that's what seven deadly sins wanted, because by trashing around with his full power, Ichigo weakens barrier between hell and all other planes of existence allowing hell to bleed into them.

I did know a little of Roka and her copy ability, but I did not know she was a spider hollow/arrancar
reminds me somewhat of my own spider hollow OC I came up with, though Roka existed way longer
Ngl I wanna see Narita give that wine-serving Hollow some plot, she looks cool
Yeah wouldn't mind that actually especially since I do think Barragan had to have some kind of harem of girl arrancar. I remember this because he seemed to want to greatly recruit Halibel into his army before Aizen came through.
I like this idea as it means that some powers aren’t natural but made like with some the bankais’ powers/techniques some characters have.
Wow, such a beautiful design. And she's still alive? Awesome. Hope she survives the Quincy invasion and we get to see her in canon one way or another.
My biggest gripe with the existence of this character is the fact that aizen may have known about her and if he did then he 100% would have utilized her. And if he did know about her, he may have punished or even killed anyone who would have harmed her because she would be an essential piece in his plans.
Aizen wouldn’t care. If a tool gets destroyed he’ll just replace it. After Stark died he gave up on the Arrancars entirely got rid of Harribel himself even though she could still fight.
@@knucklecracks2.0 Yes. He definitely would. The danger of Aizen exists beyond his beyond normal reiatsu or his zanpakto. He's incredibly intelligent. Makes active effort to avoid certain people who may upset his plans while also making plans just incase those people DO upset his plans. But if he had rokas ability available at his fingers, his reign would be nearly ar dangerous as a nuke.
@@neotokioboi5152 Her powers wouldn’t blossom for Aizen. When she was part of the Arrancar army she was constantly berated and treated like a tool with no self worth and Aizen was no exception. It was only after she became friends with Don Kanonji and learned to value herself that she could use her abilities the way she could now.
Awwwman, I really want to see these novels getting an anime adaptation, it would be wonderful
I always felt terrible for her character. In the manga/anime, she was quite, demure, seemed harmless and cute. A rare instance of a hollow/arrancar that was seemingly innocent, who just was brutally killed.
Damn I just pulled her on my 9th multi with the Power Urahara who have surprisingly similar moveset to Roka

I know it's a longshot, but I hope the light novels are adapted one day. Perhaps at the end of the TYBW arc to fill time for the inevitable Hell arc?
The light novels could be adapted to be movies
They could just make CFYOW cannon filler after the TYBW ends. Though if they were going to do that, It would be better to do Cannon filler with the first soul reaper/Quincy war immediately after ending the main Story, Then Do CFYOW which would be a very convenient segway right into the Hell arc
Wasn't Grimmjow trapping Ulquiorra using his the caja item Aizen gave to Espada members? It was a small black diamond thing that was meant for "disciplining" their Fraccíon.
Caja Negacion, specifically. It was a special version that only Espada had access to.

Ironically enough I created a Spider arrancar for a fanfic a long time ago along with three others who served my version of the Cero Espada. Though my guy had more Spider themed abilities then this character.
I just got to the sixty ninth book and man this thousand year blood war is wild. There's some characters that I really hope aren't really dead but I don't know. It's wild I can't put it down.
On an unrelated note i kinda wish we saw don kanoji more often hes goofy but hes got a good heart

Really late reply but it’s because of how it’s written in Japanese. Even though the Japanese pronounce Spanish better than English people they don’t have the characters or “alphabet” to write them properly. A big one is that they have no “L”. So for any L they use an r sound. Maybe the English translator didn’t know the Spanish word and saw the r sounds and thought the Japanese is trying to say L.
For reference the Japanese is ティルレ二ア. Romanised that’s tirurenia. Which is the way they would spell tillrenia. The “Tiru” part kinda sounds like till.
So yeah basically English translator didn’t know Spanish and just guessed.
I like this story and I would love to see it be animated bleach when it comes back in October or as a special because there's so much to discuss here I can't wait for your video explaining the story of spirits are forever with you and PS do you think the child version of cien granz will one day give kenpachi a challenge I would love to see a story based on that because there are so many characters from these novels I would love to see come back and I think could one day even surpass

Roka has always been a character I was interested in. When Yammy kills her I felt so sad for her that while working on my own fanfic I planned on saving her. Thus you can’t believe how shocked I was when I discovered someone else beat me to that idea and it was a full on established light novel! I was like what?! She has a name and a Resurraccíon! Sick and slowly over time she’s been a character I’ve always appreciated but I never knew her story in SAFWY! And holy crap this story writing for her incredible!!! Makes me like her even more now!!! :D

These are main-characters/allies/villains.
Please don't be purposely be dense and try to argue for characters who had NO significance in this STORY. They're fictional, not an alternate reality.

These light novels are nuts
The problem I have with the novels is that they can be written off as fanfiction. It doesn't mean that they're not good or that they're badly written, it's just it feels bizarre in some cases.
Roka being important is like Shuhei being important, nobodies who are now Special.

I would say that for your question of how does it work for Roka getting a zampakuto, and the answer comes from the nature of the arrancars.
a hollow becomes an arranger after acquiring the powers of a shinigami, however their true power resides on the fact that they are hollow, so if ichigo can choose between being a hollow or a shinigami it would stand to say that if Roka after getting more in tune with the events of hueco mundo, and fake karakura town she might have gathered enough shinigami reishi to be able to make that transformation allowing her to turn her arrancar powers into a zampakuto

I am not surprised Szarel Apollo treated Roka badly. Hueco Mundo is a barren desert, with no sunglight, where those trapped need to resort to cannibalism to survive, where every victim devoured will try to erode your will to take over and nothing you do can fill the emptiness in your soul. Such a world creating horrible individuals is unsurprising. People that care for their subordinates, like Harribel and Nel did with their fraccions, seem to be the exception rather than the rule.

I will say, I think it's actually quite fitting for light novel characters to have busted powers. Kind of fits in with the back half of the rest of Bleach.
I kinda like that they used background characters. It's what I liked in the last arc, seeing other shinigami facing the quincy on their own.
Maybe making them more important than they were might feel jarring at first, but it's also understandable that any power they had was greatly eclipsed by the villains during each arc. We spend so much time with such overpowered characters, we miss a lot of world building that forms the foundations of Beach's world.
