Which beauty dish would you choose? Would you attach grid or sock on it? For what kind of photoshoots do you do? Comment below and leave your email address for a chance to win a Godox water proof LED light #WL4B.

I would chose the white one, because I think that the light it's a little bit soft. I would definitly attach a grid on it if I need more light control or more dramatic images. The sock in my personal opinión, it removes all intention from the beauty dish and that is the reason why I would not use it. Anwering the other question, I will used in portraits, and fashion photography, i think it's works very well. In product I prefer modifiers like the Strip box. I love your products and the value for money. #WL4B

I just bought the Godox AD300 Pro and im obsessed on it 😊.
I like the white beauty dish. I use grid for a particular shots like in products and fashion shoots. And i would use the sock when i want softer result.
I do travel photography, and more on portraits, before Covid 19. And now i do fashion and product photography.
If i have the opportunity to used that LED lights, it would be great to try some light effects photoshoot

For me I love using a white beauty dish with grid. This creates the right kind of balance between softness and contrast. I am a portrait and wedding photographer and have been using ad200, ad100 and ad1200 for many years now, with amazing results.

The white beauty dish and grid combo are a gorgeous combination that provide a VERY unique look. When one of my high school aged subjects has relatively good skin, I love to combine this with my Sigma 105 Macro for incredible detail with the contrasty look of the beauty dish.

When I can I go for silver with grid for fashion photoshoots.
I enjoy the edgy look from a beauty dish and the mix of silver and grid is perfect to create a bold look that is completely different from the on you get from a softbox/octabox.
Also the diameter of the Beauty Dish is a relevant factor that is interesting playing with!

I would def go with a silver dish + sock in order to get the best of both worlds, and complement that with a grid for when necessary. I do portraits but with this kind of equipment and a second Godox flash it really opens up options for fashion photography.

I have both a white and silver beauty dish both 21.6" .
Neither is softer than the other because they are the same size but the silver offers more output, and higher contrast due to more specular highlights. The sock diffuses the light (reduces contrast) but does not make it softer because it does not change the size of the source, you may get bounce from white walls in a small room using the sock which will make you think it is softer.
Love the light out of beauty dishes.

I have both a silver and white. I love the silver for the incredible dimension it adds. I usually use that for athletes with a fill. For headshots and business portraits or a generally softer look while still keeping more dimension than a larger softbox, the white with the sock and reflector is perfect and easy to pack around.

Personally I love the white beauty dish with diffusion sock for women, but I like the silver with grid for men. When dosing portraits or editorial, the scenario will determine what combination to use, but if I had to choose one setup, it would be a large white beauty dish with diffusion sock. 😊👌🏾

I used an open silver dish from about 2m away on a boxer for a portrait shoot a few weeks ago. The high contrast it created added to the stern look, and I made sure NOT to tell him it was called a BEAUTY dish haha. But I would love to explore larger white dishes as an option for studio portrait!

Hello. I have been working with Godox equipment for a long time. I take photos and videos and I don't dream of a narrowly defined photo genre, but for me white beauty dish is more ethereal and delicate and I would like to use it in my work. It will be especially useful for me in portraits of any nature - wedding, school or advertising. I am pleased that Godx is expanding its production not only with photo, but also video and audio products - LED lights, microphones and more. Godox is my choice for all tasks.

As I do fashion work I use the white beauty dish with a grid for the face. The beauty dish is directly in front of a large modifier that I use for lighting the rest of the model. That way I get more defined lighting just for the face, while still being able to light full length. Personally, the silver has just a little too much contrast for my particular taste.

I would probably lean towards a white beauty dish for most of my portrait shoots. I typically shoot more women than men and so I'd want to make sure that the skin looks soft. Depending on the shoot I'd probably lean towards the sock but if we're outdoors, I'd add the grid to add more control of the light.

hi,i do use my own white 22" beauty dish with my godox lights.i have a smaller silver beauty dish too,but i dont really shoot high contrast images.i like to use the grid on the bd to control the spill of light on the backdrop, then use edge lights if i need or want to seperate my subject from the background.i have never really used the sock on the bd as i would rather use a soft box with diffusion for a softer lighting set up.i tend to shoot head shots of friends,i really enjoy this, and i am still on a long learning curve, but really enjoying this journey.i have 3x SK400 mk2 lights, and 2 x AD600BM lights for outdoor shoots.

I will choose the silver one as I prefer more contrast lighting. Another reason why silver over the white is that i can tone down the contrast whereas it takes more work to bring up the contrast in the white. I shoot beauty for skincare products.

I do portraiture photoshoot. I would use the white beauty dish with sock on and have the grid ready for any outdoor location shoot. It depends on the ambient light and effect I want to create, grid will be useful to direct the light to the model's face and prevents spread to the rest of the body. Yes, both sock and grid can be used at the same time - not just either of them. Attach the grid outside the sock to get diffused and directional light.

I‘ve got a 35cm silver beauty dish which is often too hard for my kind of work (mainly portrait). If I could choose again, I would take a 55cm white dish but still use a grid to control the spill on my background. Another very important tip is not to use an unmodified speedlight in a beauty dish (e.g. with an s-bracket) as the light output won’t be as even as with a real bulb or round head. Made that mistake once and now always use the bulb head on my ad200 instead!

I shoot portraits and would use the white beauty dish with a grid. That will allow me to separate my subject from the background, and be a bit more forgiving of their skin condition.

I would choose the white one I love the look of it and I will use it for fashion and portrait and I will use both grids and sock it depend on the photoshoot.

Great video with clear comparison of all the different effects that are achievable!! I would love to use a white beauty dish for the soft but defined look in portraits and attach a grid to it if necessary. It would also be a great match with my large umbrella to create soft light with more emphasis on the face of my subjects :D

Answer: I always use a beauty dish with zilver reflector and also use the grid to give extra punch and shadows to the picture. I use it in studio environment for fashion photography with the Godox ad200 pro and Godox 600. Godox is the best! always great tutorial. But I never win :-(
