Just picked up a 142 to have some fun myself. Good to see other old Volvo's out on the track!
Great car! I had plans to do the same thing (autocross and road race) with an Alfa, but ran out of energy... But one of my targets was vintage racing. I'm sure that your car would be 100% welcome into any vintage BS or U25 Trans Am race series. The options you have for a car like that is enormous.
Cool car choice, there's so much tuning knowledge around the b20 over here its mad, its still being tuned and raced today, a legendary engine here in sweden. 142s are very common in historic racing and rallyes, you see many of them at every race :)
A flying brick! Congrats!
Also planning to take my classic Volvo turbo out to the track and test out the Lotus-designed handling. Great build!
awesome, I was waiting for this feature after reading jg co-drove it at dixie.
Very cool car, Consider running it in vintage. VRG runs a great value at their events and some of the other sanctioning bodies (HSR, SVRA ) have great racing. Despite what some people think, there is some pretty hard racing at these events.
Hey thats Zach!! Florida Volvo Community Family!!!
LOVE THE OLD VOLVOS!!
Thanks to the Corona virus, I'm living the racing year season threw RUclips.. so far all of my SCCA race event's are canceled 😢
Very cool car front engine, rwd, square just like the Norse gods intended
My 1970 144 came from the factory with 121 cu in engine (factory claimed 119 hp), 51/49 front/rear weight distribution and great 4-wheel disk brakes. I added Michelin tires and Koni shocks (and screwed the Konis down tight). I can see how Heim joints would improve that car some but I also think a world class driver (which I don't claim to be) in my 144 would be competitive on a road course with any normally-aspirated 2.0-liter sport sedan driven by Mr. Average Joe (no matter how good Mr. Average thinks he is). How much stronger would a "regulation" roll cage be than that 1970 fa
Very cool
My Chromebook froze up. How much stronger would a "regulation" roll cage be than what the 1970 144 had from the factory, i.e. (claimed capable of supporting 10 times the weight of the car)?
You need larger webers : 48 . Better cam 👍🏼 Nice car.
the old Volvo redblock is basically bulletproof you can turbo that thing and it will happily take it.
2040lb is super light!
Light stiff rwd....great engine....
