Solid gameplay improvements this year. Goalies are a bit easier so far but the foundation for them seems much better and realistic than before. All the little things in gameplay feel a lot better ( except stick lifting..but they'll patch that ). NHL 18, BRING BACK GM CONNECTED!
***** I never said their servers were good, plus you're acting as if EA's server are better LOL please. EA has some of the most unstable servers and game launches. I've played NHL since 2010 up until now and the game as virtually been the same with MODES and features with only small additions and we hash out another 60 dollars for the almost same game, it's my opinion and I'd like to think its a fair one too, you can look at as bitching but I see otherwise.

I pre-ordered the super deluxe version and so far it has not disappointed whatsoever. Because of work and school I've only been able to play one game but I won and loved every minute of it. Hopefully it stays at this level of game play and they don't tune it too much
They need realistic trade weight, faster progression of prospects (especially 2nd and 3rd round, and throw in hidden gems of later rounds), more options for dump-ins (bring back the push-puck), more realistic retirement age (Taylor Hall retired at 36?), in-season contract re-signing, and suspensions.
Just went back and played NHL 2005 on my ORIGINAL Xbox. Loved it so much that I'm gonna buy this. It will be the second NHL game I've owned. Lol from NHL 2005 to NHL 17
well since you asked what could be added on gm mode... 1) contract extensions available during the season not just the offseason. 2) scouting needs to be overhauled, I still have no idea who the prospects are. 3)being able to fire and hire coaches 4)passing is still garbage, just fix it EA. 5)Stop Detroit from begging me to take zetterberg or kronwall in a trade 6)fighting still sucks 7)why are skaters so stiff to move around, it's like their skates are filled with cement. 8)need better deke options 9)more realistic trades 10) start the gm mode in the offseason.
I'm curious and I'd like to ask the NHL community: How many modes do you play and which modes? I only play be a GM, be a pro, and a bit of EASHL online. Any more is too time consuming bc I have other games and a life outside games too.
I know, and it's a terrible reason not to do a PC release. Take notes from Microsoft, as people have said it's pretty hard to do mods on the Windows Store Apps like Killer Instinct.
Yeah I do agree with that, and I'm not saying go with that but a cut scene here or there would be nice, also I wish there was more of a Stanley cup celebration when you win (because for 16 it was weak)

RE Matthews etc, don't know if it's the same now but they used to have to wait for them to play a NHL game before they could be in the game properly. So first week or so of the season it'll all be correct.
Gotta go to customize on the title screen then go to rosters, and make the latest online roster active for your new mode. Then you should have Matthews on the Leafs. EA should make this automatic.
You missed something very important; the soundtrack! Is there one or did they just put in some stock ass sounding instrumental music like they did in 'chell 16?
I played a season of Be a Pro this summer on 16. I finished the season with 116 pts to lead the OHL in scoring but i got drafted in the 3rd round ( by the Leafs). I was thrilled to be drafted by the leafs lol, but i don't get how you could lead the league in scoring and get drafted in the 3rd? plus i had games where i had gotten 3 pts and still only get a B+ to an A- rating. I hope they make these aspects of the game more realistic
STEVE! Matthews is still on the ZSC LIONS on National League in the game. He's like a 77. Kaitsev is probably still in the KHL. When the first roster update comes out they will both be on the leafs!
not tooting my own horn or anything but im a division 1 player, i have been for the past 3 years and win the div 1 title pretty convincingly, i notice the goalies are awesome! the animations and angles and everything about them are just better. and i feel like hitting is gonna be a bigger factor in this nhl. yes the ol poke check is still a little overpowered but who isnt used to that, but the hitting seems very constituent and im loving this game so far. P.S for all hut players... get evander kane. cost about 2.5k and is the best player ive used and i used malkin and some of the other legends.

Agreed with the skill stick addition. A few new teams, some mode tweaks and some physics changes don't constitute a massive gap, that's just the next EA Sports title every year.
Can you make your own custom players and teams like in NHL14? (custom appearance, custom jerseys, custom names) Are there female players? Can you make custom arenas for matches against friends in the same room? If anyone can answer these I would be grateful, I usually only play these games with friends on the same console, so how that works is most important to me.
I mostly play GM mode and they made a lot of changes which is cool, but none of it really has to do with building a team which is why I play that mode. I still think NHL is behind relative to all the features other sports games have, but at least it looks like they're going the right direction.
the glitch goal (forehand to backhand and vis a vis) you made mention to has been in the game since NHL 1991 believe it or not. Otherwise that glitch has been in every version released. When mastered its success rate is a good 80%

i always hated how the injuries was so high in be a gm and i hated to change the lineup every second game.... anyone know if i can like play a simple version of the be a gm where i dont have to think about the tickets or anything like that. just salary/trades/scores?
I absolutely hate how they changed a few buttons on the hybrid controls. I have only played a couple games so far, but it is non stop unsportmanlike conduct penalties since the hit button from NHL 16 is now initiate fight. Going to take a while to get used to the new buttons.
This game is a BIG step up for players who sits in the market, plays singleplayer and like customization. But for the hardcore online players it's nothing new. Same old problems are still there.
What's missing is MY PRO to edit height/weight, LOBBY to recruit players. and attributes but not much on that. they put that all is gonna be AWESOME! inbound24

they still don't know how to create names for swiss, austrian, slowenian etc players. you still have Drew Mcintyre from Zurich Switzerland. Cmon it can't be that hard to change this.
KHL rejected an agreement for the NHL. The agreement stated that NHL (the actual one) wanted rights for players if they were ever to come to North America (vise versa). Instead of players waiting for their contracts to expire, they could jump from league to league and any team in the KHL could pick up the contract if the player wanted to make the jump (vise versa). KHL rejects because NHLPA would receive every KHL player's rights and they didn't want that. So KHL won't be in a NHL game until both leagues come up with an agreement between player movement and player rights. I know this because I read an article about it in June

Matthews/Zaitsev won't be put on the active rosters until they play a game in the NHL. Same thing happened with McDavid/Eichel.
matthews will be in the game before the roster update, he last played in the Swiss league which is already in the game.

Been playing it all day. Put matthews into the line up and first goal of my season was by matthews, second goal Matt Martin.

Look up how to glide and skate in NHL 16. Helps a bunch, also learn how to stick handle.. Don't forget to aim your shots with the left stick as well

Yeah me too but I'm pretty sure you can turn off all the extra stuff. (Setting prices and all that jazz.) and just do the old school Gm mode
