Why are people still bullying Casey after all these years? Just let it go and let him be for god sakes! Only two women accused him of sexual harassment way back in 2010 and there have been no incidents since then. He has grown tremendously and I can honestly tell he is a good down to earth person. What more could you possibly want from him? He's apologized profusely for something that happened 10 years ago and he has fixed his alcoholism. Furthermore, I don't think it was his intent to sexually harass those woman. Apparently the movie was a mockumentary with a lot of partying involved and that may have blurred the lines a bit. I'm not condoning what he did, but at the same time, I really feel bad for Casey because this is such a huge stain on his character.
I think those drawing a line between Afflek and Harvey Weinstein are engaging in hyperbole. A decade ago on the set of a film he was self financing, he behaved like an immature unprofessional asshat, probably because he thought of the film as some dumb project he was doing with friends and not a professional environment. Two coworkers took issue with his behavior and justifiably sued his ass, he settled and then publicly acknowledged that he acknowledged immaturely and like an ass during the making of that film. When a person admits fault and doesn’t repeat the behavior it seems weird to hold them to that screw up for their entire lives. It would be one thing if he claimed he did nothing wrong and if then there were multiple instances of him being accused of the same thing. But what he was accused of does not come with a life sentence in any justice system in the world.
Sometimes, public discourse really does not have a method of addressing the degrees, sometimes it all gets treated at a set and unchanging level with no timeframe or context other than initial impressions and public convictions.
