Gergiev the Mel Gibson of conductors - how well he knows his music, and what an exact, clear and lively musical vision he conveys to the orchestra he empowers. His ideas about Stravinsky and Prokofiev being in effect rivals stimulating each other seems very true.
@@etucker82 I'm still in the dark regarding this analogy I must admit...Is it just that they both have clear personal visions and they don't allow anything to get in their respective ways from realizing them?
Approximately translated from 21:44 G: …He tried to execute this piece as if it were made of brush strokes. It shouldn’t be …(Gergiev sings)… it’s like a painting, a story, a painting full of colors. G: The first two parts were fine, but I would like the finale more intense. Look here: (Gergiev sings) Concertmaster: It’s too difficult! What he’s written is terrible! I can’t do it in concert. G: You could play them divided CM: You can distinguish it? G: It’s not a glissando CM: Is it really a ballet? G: Yes, but Diaghilev rejected it CM: Yes? G: He could not stage it. I would like to put set it up at the Mariinsky.
este director y esta obra me gusta po el sentimíento en sú ejecución tán cuidada, y siempre me gusta ver a los directóres trbajando en estádo tan puro y natural más humanizado,, Sin la presión del estreno ;y como ¿NO? a los MÜSICOS;
Nice to see there's a Jerry Goldsmith fan out there. A rare genius who was often difficult to characterize. He came across as distinctly American. But...he had layers...that were incredibly difficult to categorize. Everything he did...from his first soundtrack...to his last....was complex and full. He reminds me of Max Steiner....admittedly from a different era...and not actually a good comparison...but still....
Well, well, he is a musician. Your government demand him to betray his country and his house, where his family live now. But your government just a slave of USA. Gergiev is not the slave and is not Karoyan, who took a member billet of fascism. Number two.
One of the best conductors of all times.
Great conductor, one of a kind. So is this piece of Prokofiev.
I was at the concert - it was FANTASTIC. Great piece, great orchestra and director.
Gergiev is a welcome force of nature. Everything he does comes alive, but how could you go wrong with Prokofiev, plus Gergiev?
Valery Gergiev and the art of conducting!
…and a fantastic conducting teacher 💯
What a great show! Maestro really know he wants......Amazing Rotterdam Phil! The tuba guy is my teacher 🤗

The Mel Gibson analogy gets better and better...

Bravo ! C'est le Valery que j'aime...

The baton is his brush and the music his paint.
Grazie veramente notevolmente bello

Thank you. I wonder if he did succeed in producing a new ballet...
Gracias padre

What's this? Gergiev is using a baton?! Whaaaaat!?!?!? :O
He was young then....
he seems a martian...
Prokofiev composed this after hearing Le Sac. What a mess, not one of P's better works imo.
Your brain is a mess...
Jerry Goldsmith would have done the job better, I think.

@@tintinsnowyful many times jerry goldsmith used prokofiev and shostakovich almost as plagiarism
Not that good; only prokovief could ❤

Too much of a baton, too much of a hair...
