I just want to say I so enjoy your makeovers, but I especially love your TRUTH !! The fact that you say how long it takes sometimes to get projects done In Your home. Many shows never mention how long it takes or they say oh it was just a weekend🤔🤔🤔really!! Not my story, I’ve been in this house now 8 yrs and I’m just getting the itch to change paint an some other projects but it takes time n money and I’m a single mom so watching ur projects give me hope👍🏽👍🏽😊😊😊thank you! An the kitchen looks nice👍🏽👍🏽
Aww, Terry, thank you! You and I have been in our homes about the same amount of time. December marks 9 years for us. It has taken that long in order to get to this point! We still have the same sofa from 17 years ago....haha! We still have the same old broken down IKEA bed (literally breaking down). We just havent gotten around to those things yet, plus we didn't want to get a new sofa until the kids stopped standing and jumping on it (hmmm, they're 13, 9, and 7...still waiting....). Take your time, make it pretty, but make it comfortable! :)
What a great mom to teach your son how to do these things so when he has his new house, he won’t have to hire someone. They never want to help or learn but always thank you when they get older.
You're not only teaching your son valuable skills, it's the bonding and time you spend with him that will make beautiful memories in his heart forever. It reminds me of the times I used to learn from my grandma's cooking in the kitchen, brings back so many flashbacks 💕
I had Invisalign and it was the best decision I’ve made in a while. Unfortunately I failed to use my retainer as I should have so my teeth shifted back a little. But that was all on me, it in no way reflects negatively on Invisalign. I’m considering getting them again which should tell you just how satisfied I was with it. It’s a bit pricey thought so it might be a while before I’m able to.
Glad to hear you had success with it, though! We're finding it super easy. Not sure if you know this or not, but there is a Dental Monitoring app that goes with it now, so instead of going to the ortho weekly or bi-weekly, you simply scan your teeth with an app and it sends the pics to the dr. They tell you if it's time to move on to the next aligners. LOVE that feature. And I've heard that Invisalign is comparable to regular braces. I haven't gotten quotes on the regular braces, though. I like the ability to skip dr. visits, too! How long did they tell you that you've had to wear the retainer? I am thinking it might be 2 years, but others have said it's even longer. Lifelong, perhaps??
@@ThriftDiving I didn't know about the app feature. I had them around 6-7 years ago so I also don't remember how long I had to keep the retainer in. I think it might have been all day for 2 years and then just at night after that. But I lost it and never went back to get a replacement. I didn't even have to see my dentist twice a month since I knew when to exchange my trays. I used to see him maybe once every 2 months or so.
If you are able to visit the same orthodontist who did your braces before, they may give you a discount! My daughter did the same thing, and her orthodontist gave her a bit of a break on the price.
I had regular braces for 3 years. Used my retainer for sometime and stopped. My teeth have never shifted. And great upgrade to the kitchen. It’s gorgeous girl!!!
The great thing with the Invisalign is you can't even tell theyre wearing them!! His teeth look great, so much change all ready! Just like the kitchen, a few small changes and your kitchen looks fresh and new and bright!!
Yes!! That's what I've been told. I think they said that he will have to wear it every night at bedtime. My best friend's daughter has braces as a teen but didn't wear her retainer like she was supposed to, so now she's looking into Invisalign now at the age of 25.

Don't be so hard on yourself. Your skill level for creating and remodeling is now that of an expert. Because your so good you don't come across mistakes or get stuck with not knowing how to do something during a big project. Just because this remodel wasn't hard doesn't mean that it doesn't look fantastic. You can tell by the before and after pics that a lot of hard work went into that kitchen and it looks great.
Oh wow, I loved that comment about "just because it wasn't hard doesn't mean it doesn't look good." Such wise words! I will keep this in mind! Thank you. :)
As a retired dental hygienist, I have spent many appointments cleaning around the metal brackets and wires! What a job! LOL! So nice that this product is now available for many ortho patients. People don't have restrictions on what they can eat, and are able to clean their teeth easier! Fewer cavities and gingivitis! :D

My sister had Invisalign done a few years ago now. Her teeth are just beautiful now. We are identical twins, in photos the smile is the huge difference 😱 for her (in Australia) they worked out an 8 month plan, they worked so much better than my sister in law who had braces for two years, it was so much more upkeep and dentists visits.
That's awesome! And you're right--braces require many trips back and forth to the orthodontist. Invisalign gives you the aligners up front and then monitors your progress weekly with the Dental Monitoring app. We scan his teeth once per week and the orthodontist reviews it and decides if he is ready to move on to the next aligners. It is that simple. It is so hard to believe how simple. lol
I enjoyed the video very much because your son is really nice. It's cool to see a young guy like him be so open and candid for all the world to see but then he has a healthy self-confidence. Good parenting!!!!!
Aww, thank you so much! That means a lot to me! He is SUCH a sweet kid. Can you believe that the other day when I went to his school for open house, he kissed and hugged me in the crowded cafeteria and he didn't care who was around?? Amazing for a 13 year old! :)
Thank you, Kawaii! I was really feeling some kind of way about feeling like I hadn't "done enough" to this kitchen, but it was at the end that I realized after talking to my mom that the little things really DO count. So we shouldn't beat ourselves up for not doing the whole "shebang" at once. Who can afford to do that? It's best to do it in stages. Thanks for watching!

I love that you are teaching your son to use power tools. All parents should teach their kids new skills. Great teaching mom.
You’re an awesome mom! I had to wait till I was 27 to save and purchase them myself. Very pricey but I am a happier person today and actually show my teeth when I smile (far from the days when people use to call me snaggle tooth). He’ll appreciate it when he’s an adult.
I'm sorry you got caller names! It is tough growing up. I was called "Grasshopper" because I was tall and thin. 🤣 I am thankful that Invisalign chose us to do this promotion. My son had the final say in whether he wanted to do it, and he said yes, so I am sure he is thankful, too!
Serena, I really enjoy your videos, no matter the project. It’s fun watching you evolve as a person, along with an ever-increasing skill-set. I only wish I’d had someone like you to learn from when I was young! Your beautiful boys will be better adults, with a Mom who’s always learning new things...At the rate you’re going, you’ll be a General Contractor by the time they’re off to college. Thanks so much, Melissa!! Me too! It is a dream come true that these companies like what I do and support me to be able to continue doing it. It is amazing and much appreciated. And I appreciate you for watching and following along on this journey of home ownership!
Sweet family. I love to see moms doing “guy’s “ work. That’s what I’ve been told. Last year my 25 year old at the time asked me to build him a desk. Love it ❤️ Great channel.
You are amazing. I should’ve learned from my dad growing up, as he could fix and build almost anything. Instead, I wanted to cook with my mom. Now, I’m scared to do anything on my own in my house....except cook. Go figure. Q is such a handsome young man and so is your little one. Tfs. You are incredibly talented! Big xoxo’s 💞, Robbin.
My son asked for Invisaline after seeing the results that some of his classmates had. My son is almost done with his adjustment and his teeth look beautiful! I have shown his before and after pictures to coworkers who want to get braces and now they are going to get Invisaline too. The pictures and the results don't lie. Invisaline is a great product. Your kitchen looks wonderful! This video shows that small changes can make a big difference! :)
I pop popcorn the same way! It's the yummiest. I stopped buying microwave popcorn years ago when I found out the lining inside the bag makes an invisible popcorn coating that the EPA says is "likely carcinogenic" because it causes cancer & birth defects. Not only a good DIYer but a good mom :) I love the new kitchen light fixture--it's really pretty and looks much easier to clean. I'm all about things that are easier to clean. And the new paint is gorgeous.
Yesssss, Johnetta! I feel your pain. Our house had good bones, but had tons of wallpaper, outdated toilets, etc., and because it was so overwhelming, I started disliking my house and the way it made me feel stressed and scared that something would happen to the home and the amount of time it would take. It has been 9 years now and I FINALLY am feeling comfortable here. Give yourself time. It takes time, seriously! :) Good luck!
What a great experience, and what a wonderful way to involve your son in this incredible make over. This will be something he carries with him for the rest of his life! Love the final kitchen. I wish you many years of happiness there.
I think this is awesome that you are teaching how to do these things on so man levels!!!! It is a beautiful mother-son bonding moment and also he will have some serious skills which most people do not have today.
I am glad we decided to do it! Well, my son is the one that wanted to try it. I asked him multiple times and he really wanted to, so it was his choice. It was amazing to see his progress after just 6 weeks! Thank you so much.
I love how this kitchen is coming along and thank you. I needed to hear that if you keep chipping away at things it will eventually get the way you want it. It's so hard to remember that switching outlet/switch covers out is a small but great change. It may not be a whole remodeled everything but it's a positive step lol. Also, if you wanna buy a house near me and teach me all the things that would be A+ lmao. I think I'll start chipping away at painting projects when my little one starts preschool. A few hours each day and I can get it going!
Oh wow, I am sure it's hard to get anything done with a little one under 5 who's not in school! I have a picture of me painting one of my rooms with my youngest (now 7 years old) in a baby carrier on my back. HA! We moms do what we have to, but it's definitely harder when they're so young. And yes! Electrical receptacles (outlets) can make a world of difference, especially the ones that are all off-white. Bleh!
My son is 13 and he does the same thing lol thought he was the only one. So glad to see he's not the only one lol. Love all your diys thank you for sharing 😃
Would love to see a much larger kitchen island with seating and storage under your new pendant light and consider painting the pantry door in the new wall color so it does not stand out from your wonderful kitchen! Your son's teeth look marvelous!
The kitchen looks great! I am very impressed with your electrical skills. I really want to get more comfortable so that I can change out some overhead lamps!
You should have seen me before: I would ask hubby to do any wiring! But now that I'm in electric wiring class, I am 100% committed to doing it myself now that I understand a lot more about how it all works!
Me either!! I hadn't noticed the change until I compared the pics! He still has probably a few more months so I'm excited to see how it looks when he's all done!
I had the old metal train track/box car braces. Big difference for me. I know your son will be thrilled when it’s all finished. Your kitchen is beautiful. The paint has an orchid cast in shadows. I love the double effects you can achieve with paint.
Thanks, Victoria! I love the way plants transform a room! Keeping them alive is a whole 'nutha story. Lol. My house doesn't get a ton of light so I hope the plants O have are not sun hogs. 🤣
Hey Serena your kitchen transformation did brighten up the space. I think you could use a bigger island in that space. Your sons transformation look really good. I like those better than the braces, his problem was very minor..Kudos to you both.
The kitchen upgrades looks great. Nice job. I had invisalign too and previously had metal braces in high school. The invisalign helped straighten things back again without metal braces. As an adult it was a nice relief.
Love your kitchen makeover. This video encourages me to keep plugging along. I have been making over a small dining room for years! it is coming together and it has become a multipurpose room: craft, study, future indoor garden!! Your videos are very inspiring! So glad you are on YT!!
Have you ever thought about painting your cupboards white? I love the blinds and the paint colour, it looks so much brighter and fresher. Excellent job! Your son made me laugh after he'd screwed one bracket, that was him, done 😂😂. I think it's brilliant that you're teaching him things like how to use a drill and paint. I've taught my son to iron! Your an inspiration, thank you 💕
Girl! That kitchen is everything!! As long as you feel good when you walk into that kitchen that's all that matters. Keep up the great work, love from PA
I love the changes to your kitchen. The new appliances, the paint color and the lighting are my favorites. I have the faux wood blinds in my home too. Your son is handsome and funny. I admire you teaching him how to be handy. The invisalign will improve his smile he will be happy with the results. I am interested in your electrical wiring class. Keep up the great content. Gigi 😊🙂

Best of luck to you and yours!
So happy you’ve been given these opportunities to do these big name sponsorships!!! Love seeing the support for your channel 😁
Thanks so much, Melissa!! Me too! It is a dream come true that these companies like what I do and support me to be able to continue doing it. It is amazing and much appreciated. And I appreciate you for watching and following along on this journey of home ownership!
Your speaking makes me joyful; inspired with what you do. Thank you.
Brilliant young man, thanks for sharing ur experience with us
Isn't it great his mom is teaching him these things? He's going to be a great catch some day!
Sweet family. I love to see moms doing “guy’s “ work. That’s what I’ve been told. Last year my 25 year old at the time asked me to build him a desk. Love it ❤️ Great channel.
That's awesome! It's fun doing these projects, and even more fun with we do projects with and for our kids! :)

Yes it is.
I love it alll!!!! You son is too cute!!! I love that he was truthful about his pain. Thanks for a great video.
Yes!! I defintely am glad he was honest about the initial discomfort. But it is amazing how quickly he adjusted! :)
It looks alot better already! And the layout is better too.
Yes!! just that minor change of bringing the table to act as an island, was a huge improvement! Thanks so much for watching.
YAY! Glad he had good results, too! They really have been sooooo easy. I had no idea it would be this easy. The mobile app monitoring is great, too.
I pop popcorn the same way! It's the yummiest. I stopped buying microwave popcorn years ago when I found out the lining inside the bag makes an invisible popcorn coating that the EPA says is "likely carcinogenic" because it causes cancer & birth defects.
Not only a good DIYer but a good mom :)
I love the new kitchen light fixture--it's really pretty and looks much easier to clean. I'm all about things that are easier to clean. And the new paint is gorgeous.
You give me hope . I bought a fixer upper 3 years ago and and one thing after another I fell out of love with my home but now I know I can do it
Yesssss, Johnetta!
Love your kiddos in your videos😀💓
Aww, thanks! I like when they help me! I just cant get them to do it enough. Lol
Your son seems very humble. Good job mama!
WOW!! Just WOW!!
Don't know if I will ever get my darn kitchen finished. 😢
It's hard, for sure. Try to do it in stages!
What a great experience, and what a wonderful way to involve your son in this incredible make over. This will be something he carries with him for the rest of his life! Love the final kitchen. I wish you many years of happiness there.
Love the makeover and that your handsome little guy helped too,his teeth looked really good
I think this is awesome that you are teaching how to do these things on so man levels!!!! It is a beautiful mother-son bonding moment and also he will have some serious skills which most people do not have today.
Great job! Looks so much brighter and modern.
Your son is beautiful God bless him. I definitely want to try Invisalign for our children
Bleh!
Looks lovely! Great job! The appliances sure do make a huge difference!!
Your son has a great smile! It looks like it’s working. Your kitchen is looking great!
My son is 13 and he does the same thing lol thought he was the only one. So glad to see he's not the only one lol. Love all your diys thank you for sharing 😃
LOL, they're something else at that age, aren't they?! Growing up, yet still so childish in a good kind of way. :)
Would love to see a much larger kitchen island with seating and storage under your new pendant light and consider painting the pantry door in the new wall color so it does not stand out from your wonderful kitchen! Your son's teeth look marvelous!
Ooh, a real kitchen island build us something I will defintely put on my list! I would love that!
The change on you’re son is Beautiful god bless
Fabulous kitchen makeover and love the new views of dental makeover !!!!
You're teaching him a lot. That's so so cool!what a guy
Beautiful kitchen, young man learning to use a drill, too cute!
You never fail to inspire me!!!! Your outlook on life is contagious.....
Aww, thanks!!
Wow, didn’t realize Invisalign could work so quickly!
LOOKING FORWARD TO BACK SPLASH......GREAT JOB.
Yessss, I am looking forward to doing it! I really want to change the cabinets up before I decide on what backsplash to do.
The plant 🌱 and colorful pot made the perfect finishing touch. Kudos for all the hard work. The blinds are great!
Thanks, Victoria! I love the way plants transform a room! Keeping them alive is a whole 'nutha story. Lol. My house doesn't get a ton of light so I hope the plants O have are not sun hogs. 🤣
Looked great. Small changes are good. You've proved that with this. Love the color you painted with. 🤗
Thanks, Latrice! I am so happy with it!
Great job and trust me champ you will THANK YOUR MOM lil steph curry lol
Haha, I guess you're right, he DOES look like Steph Curry! I think his friends even mentioned that to him. lol
Love the paint color!
I bought those same round lights for my kitchen. Still need to install them. Very nice 👍
Haha, now you know how they'll look! 🤣 I really like them. Sleek and modern!
Loved your tee shirt!!!
Haha, thank you!! You can find them here: thriftdiving.com/tees
Good job teaching your son valuable skills!!
You are inspiring....I love how you go and get things done with such patience.... Thank you for sharing.
I think it was a huge difference with the appliances. Great job 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
Thank you! I agree. I wish I had bought them sooner, actually. But hey--everything comes in due time. :)
Congrats, your kitchen is beautiful!!!!
Hey Serena your kitchen transformation did brighten up the space. I think you could use a bigger island in that space. Your sons transformation look really good. I like those better than the braces, his problem was very minor..Kudos to you both.
Thank you! I agree on the size. I am considering building one, maybe next year. I'll also be changing the flooring!
Kitchen looks great. Your son is so cute!! His teeth have definitely straightened out. So happy for him 😊
Love the makeover, your so talented. Kids are so funny a little work and they get fatigue LOL 😂 I need Invisalign, Thanks 💖💖💖 your videos. GBU
The kitchen upgrades looks great. Nice job. I had invisalign too and previously had metal braces in high school. The invisalign helped straighten things back again without metal braces. As an adult it was a nice relief.
Get an air popper!🍿 Best thing I ever did!👌
Well done , madam well done!!
"When you put it in, you got a push" - great lesson from a mom to a son 🤦🏻♂️😂😂
OMGosh how easy are those Invisalign’s. I can see the difference in your sons teeth.
What a great upload! Thank you for sharing your process with us.
Thanks, Jacqueline! Glad you watched and enjoyed it.
Beautiful job! I love that color on the walls. Just a great reminder that small changes lead to the bigger ones!
So enjoyable to watch your videos! You are an amazing mom, woman and worker! I am very very impressed!!!!
I see your point beautiful work is painful and the end result is very rewarding 💞💞💞
Small change, big difference! 😍👍❤
You’re so cute. Love your new kitchen! And such a sweet son. Thanks for sharing.
Love your kitchen makeover. This video encourages me to keep plugging along. I have been making over a small dining room for years! it is coming together and it has become a multipurpose room: craft, study, future indoor garden!! Your videos are very inspiring! So glad you are on YT!!
Saludos, amo ver a tu hijo ayurdarte, que bella familia
Have you ever thought about painting your cupboards white? I love the blinds and the paint colour, it looks so much brighter and fresher. Excellent job! Your son made me laugh after he'd screwed one bracket, that was him, done 😂😂. I think it's brilliant that you're teaching him things like how to use a drill and paint. I've taught my son to iron! Your an inspiration, thank you 💕
good job. looks sweet
and so does your computer loving son!!!!
HAHA, that's all he loves to do, is computer! Well, he loves reading, too, so I guess it balances out. :)
Girl! That kitchen is everything!! As long as you feel good when you walk into that kitchen that's all that matters. Keep up the great work, love from PA
Yes, it feels WONDERFUL! And I make sure not a thing is out of place. It feels stress-free walking into it. :)
Gigi 😊🙂
Super woman! You are so inspiring.
I got an ad about visiting regularly and a real orthodontist before this video and now I know why. 😂
HAHA! I tell you, that algorithm is something else!! LOL :)
