I was eating caramel popcorn while watching the video so I could get a better idea of what the men were experiencing for the first time. Yes, it’s a casual snack in America, but I can also picture it as a special sweet treat in their village.
Wait till they get their hands. On some Cheese flavored popcorn. Or take regular popcorn, and add some melted ghee too it. And then dust it with Garlic Salt. Or powdered Ranch Dressing mix.
Cracker Jack is made with molasses. “Caramel” is just the candy consistency stage the sugar is heated to, a caramel stage. Caramel can have any flavor added to it.
Dr. Tahir forgot to mention the benefits of eating pop-corn to get your cough reflexes going when you get one of those irritating kernel skins stuck in your throat that you can never seem to get rid of.......
I have a small microwave popper, no salt or oil needed (for when I just want something hand-to-mouth. Never mind it's like eating paper, it's the guilt-free action that appeals to me!)
Yes, it was clearly Butterscotch and not Caramel popcorn. Lately, there seems to be an awful lot of nit picking going on in the comment section of these videos. The odds are that the producers and editors are not native English speakers. Cut them a little slack.
Well, they're actually fairly similar. Caramel is made with white sugar, and butterscotch with brown, and they have different cooking temperatures, but they're not terribly different, really. I personally prefer butterscotch, myself.🤍
@@DravenGalcaramel and butterscotch are two completely different things, not only because butterscotch is made with brown sugar and caramel is made with white sugar, butterscotch has butter in it and caramel does not. The flavor color and ingredients are all different. But the fact is, both of you are missing the real difference because caramel corn is kind of a misnomer, the candy coating on caramel corn is actually toffee which is a hard crack version of caramel that is made with butter. Where toffee is a hard candy, both butterscotch and caramel are soft and chewier because they are cooked to the soft crack stage, just with different ingredients as I said. So that makes the title of this video even more irrelevant. Because caramel corn isn't actually caramel corn and this is butterscotch corn not caramel corn or toffee corn as it should be called.
@@decolonizeEverywhere Wrong. Caramel often has butter in it, I just looked up ten recipes, and all but one of them had white sugar, high-quality butter, and cream. And butterscotch candies and caramel candies can be soft _OR_ hard. I've had all of the above. But wow, you really like to nitpick, if the title bothers you so much, considering it's being translated, then I suggest you write your congressman or sue the channel or something. Oh, and chill out.
yes, i agree with people here.. change the title to truth… the video is entertaining, but not grinning for hours… also, the popcorn says butterscotch, not caramel! The producers are robbing these hard working men of a better channel not displaying truth! 😢😮😢
Actually our company has a butterscotch-caramel flavor popcorn. Caramel has many adjustments to the final flavor, some make a brown sugar popcorn and call it caramel. We actually go old school with molasses, real butter, brown sugar, white sugar, vanilla and other spices to make our base caramel, then we add locally sourced products to make more gourmet flavors, like blackberry jam caramel, peanutbutter caramel and so forth. But there is a base caramel that will taste different than the butterscotch.
It's not necessary to go to the super stores for Carmel corn because you can make it at home, it's easy to find a recipe on the Internet. It's very simple to make. You can even make your own cornballs.
I have a gourmet Caramel Corn business but we are currently closed. We have 100 flavors of sweet, salty, spicy, cheesy, Za'atar and so forth. We have chocolate covered, peanutbutter, blackberry, cherry, soda pop flavors. Hopefully in a year or so we will be reopened.
@annainspain5176 Covid closed the food court we were in. We also did farmers market but getting too old for remote stuff. Still looking for a new local and partner to get the business back going. We typically had about 10 flavors at any one time.
Oh, did you really do that again? You have to understand that words have meanings and butterscotch is not caramel that's why they're called two different things. Butterscotch is good but it's not caramel and not as delicious.
There was a brand called Crackerjack that sold caramel popcorn mixed with roasted peanuts in a small handy box. Big metal cans filled with caramel, salted or cheesy popcorn are sometimes given as holiday gifts. Americans enjoy popcorn with salt and melted butter.
when Chaudhary asked what is caramel that was a very poor reply and completely wrong now he will think that popcorn is caramel you should have explained that caramel is made from cooking sugar to a point where it becomes a light golden brown colour which gives it the particular flavour that it imparts !
Like whoozerdad stated, this is another case of this channel offering the wrong product or flavour. Cracker Jack would have been a far better and authentic choice, even with the peanuts.
At its simplest, caramel is sugar that's heated and melted until it's brown but not burned. Water can be used to thin it, or to make soft caramel, cream or milk is added. Butterscotch at its most basic is a mixture of brown sugar and butter, melted and cooked together. Cream is typically added.
Very often caramel corn has peanuts added to it. When I make it for gifts for kids I make it with peanuts and chocolate chips and form it into softball size popcorn balls on popsicle sticks wrap them in parchment paper, tied with a string. It's always fun to dress them up with a drizzle of chocolate or roll them in chopped nuts or sprinkles. To make a more sophisticated salted caramel flavor, Simply butter and salt your popcorn as you usually do, before giving it it's caramel coating.
Crackerjacks -- "Candy coated popcorn, peanuts and a surprise! That's what you get with Crackerjacks!" Used to be very popular in the U.S. but I don't really see it anymore. They were really pretty tasty though. I guess tastes change.
Funny comment that "the manufacturers ... should send popcorn as a gift ... to farmers who make popcorn ...". We grow corn and do not eat that stuff (in the bag). Funny.
Someone needs to show them the videos on how to make Caramel Popcorn on RUclips. This could be some good money for them to open up a stand or a shop. ruclips.net/video/aCXhkRrDkAE/видео.html
Yes, jaggery can be used to make caramel; you can melt jaggery with a little water and cook it until it reaches a dark brown color, essentially "caramelizing" it, giving you a jaggery caramel sauce that can be used in desserts like you would use regular caramel. Unlike refined sugar, jaggery already has a slightly caramelized flavor due to its natural molasses content, so you don't need to cook it as long to achieve a caramel-like texture.
There are 1000s upon 1000s of new food tastes and dishes to try in the world! In the USA this is simply considered a casual snack, not a special treat!
