Really good video, thank you. Save me a lot of time. As I didn't have a big enough pair of pliers, I found taking the inner window seal off and then window out completely was an easier way to get the plastic window locators back in. Thanks again.
hi, my rear door is blocked, driver's side. is there a chance to remove the upholstery? they will not open either from the cave side or from the inside. Superb 2012
It is possible to remove the door cards with the door shut but you will have to be quite brutal with it, some fixings may get damaged but not so bad it can’t be fitted back. If you get some access to the door latch try tapping it with a long screw driver and hammer (hit it on the body of the latch whilst operating the unlock button) this usually shocks them into working again. This is temporary so once it’s open replace the latch immediately
Thanks for this useful guide. I'll be trying this in the next week or so.... Looks "straight forward", so should take until Armageddon for me to sort it.
@@bradauto It was a very helpful video, but they sent the wrong fitment. It will take me 1/2 hour to sort on Tuesday at some point. Really not difficult once you have sorted the nylon bushes out with the inserts.
I've a mobile mechanic coming to look at my drivers window next Wednesday as it's stopped working, motor runs just no movement. With my arthritis this is way beyond me but im dreading what its going to cost me to get done
@bradauto .... Thanks for that .... I was expecting over £200 at the least and especially if he goes for a genuine Skoda Part as I'm sure they're around £120
Hi Ian, i want to soundproof my doors. Can you tell me, please, is the 6 bolts panel where the door module seats, is that linked to the window regulator that you replaced? I see you are trying to get both of them out? Asking as I want to get that panel out, but not sure if there's anything behind it linked to it. Thanks!
Yes it is linked to the regulator mechanism and it all moves inside the cavity. It wouldn’t be good to put anything in that cavity. Best thing to do would be to stick a layer of dodo fleece inside the door card (plastic trim) and leave the regulator alone
Great video Ian. Been trying this today in vain as both my cunts have gone and the labour quote to fix was £400! Can't get the plastic plugs out though....
This was super helpful! Had a broken wire on mine. Shop was gonna charge me $700 so this saved me alot of money! Parts only cost $50.
Thanks man!
Great to hear!
Ian, this was such a brilliant video. It really helped me sort out my driver's window that had become detached from the regulator. Thanks.
Thank you. I repaired my window regulator using your instructions.

Finally some good fucking tutorial on this,i've been searching for weeks!! Thank you !

When you press the window switch, did it make a grinding clicking sound if the window regulator is broken?
Yes. The cable has snapped and is wrapping itself around the motor
