      Yes but we do need a counter balance.....
      Not Tony Blair filling it up with his and Starmers buddies. You won't get a seat unless it's on Starmers say so and it will be a second house of Labourites. So they get £300 per day.
      A second house is important. But we don't want the old buddy system in situ.
      That isn't the most important the 805 members can wait....
      Let's get down to the nitty gritty the immigration ; stop the boats forget the traffickers just turn the boats back. The latest boats people have been Women and children for a change coming from Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia. So what happened to the FIRST SAFE COUNTRY they land in...... Before they get to England the other side of the world.

Most of the house of lords are now field experts appoint based on their expertise. It works because there is no dominant party, in fact members appointed by the political party are now in the minority. In other words it has proportional representation.

      @@Nickster316 None of them! The problem is, IMO, that honesty and integrity can often hamper politicians eg. Starmer wouldn't have even been elected Labour leader if his pledges for that campaign had mirrored his recent general election pledges. Farage and Co were not entirely honest during the Brexit campaign but if they had been the vote would probably have gone against them. At the moment he does have a point to an extent about the negative effects of current immigration levels but without the exaggerated rabble-rousing tactics he employs on the matter, and the fact he doesn't seem to talk about much else, his popularity level wouldn't be as high

      @@SusanJackson-k4z He says that he taking a private persecution but it has not to my knowledge been filed anyway. Nigel likes to talk a lot play on peoples fears but he never really does anything.
      Whilst it is true there are some failing in the police force and that systems are not evenly applies; there is no real evidence there is a 2 tier policing. Although of course those that can afford good lawyers do seem to have an advantage.
      The number of actual illegal immigrants is very small but Nigel likes to exarate. Immigration as a whole is an issue a global issue but none of the parties or politicians including Nigel are talking about the root cause or indeed the solutions. But it not so much the people on rubber boats you have to worry about but the ones arriving on private planes. Nigel Farage property management company helps make many properties unaffordable

      Answer to provide a balance of power, to prevent either house having total dominance and to protect the people from the tyranny that results.

    Yes and Nigel should know because his party did the exact same thing…..REFORM and get rid of the House of Lords …make all politicians transparent with their dealing and expenses. Turn the Houses of Parliament into a museum and those politician can work in offices around the country in deprived areas with empty office buildings.

    The lords/Peers get £332 a day attendance allowance plus Free parking in the special car park their, plus SUBSIDISED high quality internal restaurant there, I am a pensioner receiving around £240 a week , that is well under a days pay for a LORD/PEER, something is VERY-VERY wrong here, it STINKS..
