I was looking at this and the Mosky, both will do the job for me, chose the Mosky because of the full size control knobs. Don't throw away the box, In 150 years time it will be worth another $.Now subscribed, playing with the amp settings was useful, FYI, if someone is doing a pedal demo and they add delay, chorus, reverb or other effect from the start i switch off. 👍
If you are in a punk band all you will need is this pedal or the sonicake shark going into a nice sounding clean channel. That’s it. No noise gate or anything
i have the same from donner, they call it dark mouse, all the same pedals just rebranded for various chinese brands, great cheap pedals in my experience,!
This sounds rad! Really dig it as a boost for the heavier stuff. I talked with Mike from Darkest Hour a bit ago and he told me the secret to the old DC hardcore tone a Rat in front of a JCM800 with the settings Gain all the way down, Filter at noon, Level all the way up.
@@benburnett8109 nah we were talking rat pedals, but it’s the same function using it to push your amp. In the context of Darkest Hour he said he used a rat on their really old stuff. Then switched to an ts9 later on
sounds a bit like mastodon leviathan album, nice pedals just wish they had different colors for each so its easier to tell apart without looking at the tiny logo
Well it sounds like a rat. I just never did feel like the rat was a good choice for metal. It just sounds like a teenagers local metal band. In other applications it can be an amazing pedal. Josh Scott demonstrates the rat tone quite well. For me it lacks dimension. It just sounds like one layer of distortion to me. Sure its a decent tone but just no dimension. Do you think you can get your hands on the empress heavy pedal and do a video for us? There's not a whole lot of good quality metal videos/demonstrations of it and I think I might be interested in it. I'd like to hear how you set it up if possible before I pull the trigger on it.
This pedal would be great for layering guitars. I didn't hear a single useable tone that would stand alone. I heard lots of tones that would build upon an existing tone.

I ran a JCM800 (2203), 1960 cab with T-75's and a Rat throughout the mid 90's.
The Obituary rig, I did the same thing for a very long time aswell, sounds fuckin' humongous!
@I like Potatoes Now I want a Rat again.
Glorious!

Even Obituary used a rat for a nasty low end growl on earlier records! Great vid Kyle. 🤘🤘🤘
They still use a RAT!
I liked it. Can’t beat the price so I ordered one to help a brother out! 🤘🏻👍🏻

I think you are confusing a TS8 with a rat. A rat with those settings would not produce a useable sound.

Loving the Channel, im new here 🙂
Happy to have you!
'Bulligerent Boost' Signature pedal?..
Sounds like if it were in a mix with another guitar that was tighter & more modern it would sound sick 🤘🏼
Cool little pedal for rock. Another great video my friend
Sounds like the Mooer Black Secret, which I had for a short while and then sold to a bandmate back in 2015.

Is it just me or is the voice audio crackling?
all his recent videos have been doing that idk why
I really like the low budget gear reviews.
Dude tell us about the shirt

One word.
Obituary.
They knew how to use a RAT
It sounds familiar but it has been more than two decades since I have plugged into one.
Dude this shit sounded godly, loved it both as a straight up distortion into a clean sound and as a boost.
Leon Todd gave you a shout out this morning on his video dude. Pretty cool.
Thanks for the heads up!

It sounded pretty good, I don't know anything about the Rat either.
Rat is KING.
Cake, pie or cakepie?
For a second there, I thought you were demoing Gwenyth Paltrow's head....
Moody sounding
The Rat is the greatest distortion pedal of all time, IMO. Modern interpretations do low gain stuff really well, too.
End of the day it's still a pedal so pedal distortion is akin to vegan steak vs the real deal
@@0megalul309 I completely disagree, but to each their own :).
