    I would never have imagined that a mono-melodic edifice, with it's mono-thematic accompaniment, could take us as far as this - totally convincing symphony - most certainly has.

    По-видимому, эта симфония использована Бондарчуком в "Борисе Годунове"

    Adding another work which I am unfamiliar with to my listening collection on RUclips. This is pretty good!

    Very interesting. Appealing. Reminds me of British composer Alun Hoddinott.

    This recording, especially when the choir comes in at about the 18 minute mark sounds like it is the USSR Symphony and Chorus.... Even on the composer's website it is unattributed.

    Ovchinnikov is a genius! Huge professionalism, real russian influences from classical composers like Rachmaninov and Shostakovich, brilliant orchestrator and sound designer! His film music is a historical! The music is not political separated, and do not own to USA ! Sorry

    An adventure into unfamiliar and resplendent territory. But there is trouble in the land.

    It is sad that there are so many Russian composers who wrote music under the patronage of the USSR government that are still just about hidden from the world at large.

    Starts off a little like Rachmaninoff's "Isle of the Dead" doesn't it?

      digitalmaestrorich Jep that's true.

      Certainly - and the weaving wave motif also reminds me of Furtwängler‘s Second, which is also built entirely on his initial melodic germ-cell

    Does it really make sense to upload music, where you have no idea who is playing, who is singing or who is conducting ?

      @patrickmaloney4847 5 лет назад +11

      Yes, it does. The music is primary, the performer secondary.
