Thanks for recording! Unpopular opinion: I genuinely think Percy is very funny this season. He’s trying so hard to be helpful after almost killing everyone last season and he inevitably messes it up.
The voice actor that played and created Zhara is Mary Elizabeth McGlynn, the legendary voice director for anime that revolutionized the way Anime dubs were acted years ago when she directed the dub for Cowboy Bebop. She was given a lot of creative freedom on Cowboy Bebop, and decided on a more naturalistic style of English dub. She’s a genuine friend to the entire cast, and a genuine “Critter” who kept up with the livestream on Twitch. McGlynn and Will Friedle played the characters of Zahra and Kashaw on the Critical Role livestream, and became two of the most popular recurring characters in Critical Role. McGlynn is also the voice director for “The Legend of Vox Machina,” behind the scenes.
Ah yes, Victor the blackpowder merchant. He's great, but honestly I think he's one of those things that the adaptation just can't quite capture in all its glory. You can go look up the Victor moments from the campaign (Jon Engqvist has videos that are just those scenes, no spoilers) and keep in mind that this npc was 100% improvised on the spot the first time he appeared. Matt (the DM) had the whole table crying with laughter. They gave him a round of applause after the scene was done.
Osysa did wort of explain why she and her mate are hidden and separated. They serve a goddess, The Knowing Mistress, who was wounded and so while she is healing the sphynxes have to hide to protect her vast knowledge, which is her gift to them. Osysa is a seer.
I love your way of thinking with the “why aren’t *you* fighting, sphinx?”, but Osysa and her mate have another responsibility. She can’t risk going into battle, as she is one of the soul keepers of the knowledge of her goddess, who is “healing in exile”, as she said. She sphinxes are the chosen of the Knowing Mistress, and they have their own tasks.
That "Fuck Dignity" moment is a nod to a different moment: [redacted villian]: 'Why won't you just _lie down_ , and die with _DIGNITY?!_ ' Laura Bailey (Vex): 'We don't do anything with dignity!'
I know that it seems like having a powerful sphinx on your side would be rad, but their purpose for existing is highly specific. Sphinxes are guardians of divine knowledge. Their job is to make sure that the wisdom of the gods is available, but only to those who are worthy of receiving it, and only at a time when the world is ready for it. A bit of an odd system, but Gods gonna God.
Since you mentioned reacting with close captioning, I actually recommend it for this show. With a densely packed show like this, it's really easy to miss something.
I'm sure you've discovered by now that this season has taken the animation, story telling, character development and even music up several notches from last season, which was really good. One reason the CGI looks so much better is that they hand-touch-up many of the creatures. The ice dragon in ep 1, for example. All of the glints of the ice off of his face were all hand painted, frame-by-frame. Basically, they put even more money and care into this season. The first two episodes in S1 came directly out of the kickstarter. Amazon money didn't start kicking in until late in the season, and then this season is fully funded by Jeff Bezos. And now we know we will have at least a Season 3, and they will be animating their second campaign, which is where most of the Critters first encountered Critical Role. Campaign 2 is more character development-heavy, and less epic fantasy trope-oriented. Glad to see you doing all of this. I think you will really enjoy it, and I know I'll enjoy your reactions.
The cast did watch parties on twitch and they brought in some of the animation team to answer questions. They talked a bit about how they layered animation on top of the CGI.
My strength comes at times from my genuine unbridled excitement at doing cool stuff and having a fun good time, and other times from my sheer determination to make people that have upset me pay for it.
Victor was a delight to the streamed campaign. All the cast lost it when Matt broke him out! So glad they included him! Brace yourself this season for all the feels!
In the live campaign all of them had moments but scanlan/Sam and Grog/Travis topped the group! 😂 Also...grog has an intelligence of 6 but a relatively high wisdom at 14
I`m incredibly grateful that you chose to show us all the reactions! Your reaction to season 1 was my favourite. Thank you sincerely! 5:47 five-seconds foreshadowing :DD Kashaw: trying to be badass and dangerous. Also Kashaw: crumbles immediately when Vex gets too close to him :DD 11:52 when you`re trying to make an argument, but your teammate says something before you can finish and destroys all of your diplomacy :D "You`re very capable of being murdered in any location, aren`t you?" - golden quote, by Jester Lu, 2023. Earthbreaker Groon is amazing and I love that they`ve kept his speech here from the campaign.
You were just going to do Episodes 1 and 12? Wha...what happened? Glad you came back after all! Really enjoyed your Season 1 reactions and am super-bummed we don't get you both for all of Season 2!
I'm super happy to see you doing a reaction for each episode! Also, good call on watching the intro each time. You will definitely catch things you missed (or weren't aware of) as the season continues.
Wait, so I am confused. Are you doing reactions to all the episodes now, regardless of your original intention? I mean, good for me, your reactions from season 1 I enjoyed the most.
Woah, hey, I'd given up hope you were doing these. And now I'm behind! Guess that's what I get for not dinging the bell, etc. If only we could have seen a reaction of your brother reacting to the news you'd decided to do the reactions after he had already gone ahead and not filmed reactions. Your superpower as a reaction team is when something shockingly raw happens, and you go wide-eyed with delight, and he goes wide-eyed with rapid onset nausea and sympathetic agony. It's fun that you monetize his pain, is what I'm saying. Do more of that, and we will continue to click the buttons.
I honestly think that one line Vax made about getting kicked out of castles sold me. To me personally that's funnier than all the "Grog is kinda stupid" jokes edit: actually the NPC blowing himself up was up there as well lmao
The critical role clip of the first time vox machina met Victor is well worth a watch. Matt improvised so well that the whole team were shocked.
Thanks for recording!
Unpopular opinion: I genuinely think Percy is very funny this season. He’s trying so hard to be helpful after almost killing everyone last season and he inevitably messes it up.
The "No one cares about you. I'm no different" made me scream
So happy you're doing reactions to this! Season 2 stepped up big time, and you guys were my absolute favourite reactors for Season 1!

When she says He, is she talking about her Mate or Him?
@@stevencavanagh7990 "Him" as in who, the whispered one? No, she's referring to her mate
That "Fuck Dignity" moment is a nod to a different moment:
[redacted villian]: 'Why won't you just _lie down_ , and die with _DIGNITY?!_ '
Laura Bailey (Vex): 'We don't do anything with dignity!'
Thank you, i had totally forgotten about that moment
I hope we still get the original moment eventually

5:00 Percy is the funniest character. He's a great straightman to all the party wiseguys.

My strength comes from perseverance. Grogs strength....well you will just have to wait and see....and you WILL LOVE IT!

How did you know that I was thinking about your reactions last night? Im so happy to see you reacting. Its a wild ride!!
In the live campaign all of them had moments but scanlan/Sam and Grog/Travis topped the group! 😂 Also...grog has an intelligence of 6 but a relatively high wisdom at 14
And Scanlan's wisdom is a a 6. Watch closely. He is SOOO gullible.
YAY! So happy you're doing these!
Oh it’s important for you to know Lucas that Kash and Zarah are guest player characters not NPCs
Thank goodness was so happy to see this notification!! I was actually looking forward to seeing you guys this season!! Thank you!!
YES!!!! I'm so happy you are going to react the whole season!!!!!
So happy you are covering the whole season! Love to see your take on it and I'm always happy to see more people enjoy this amazing Show!
19:45 She can't she's a servant of a god and the cohorts of the gods are not allowed to directly interfere on the mortal plane.
For the algorithm! Really happy to see you doing these. Thanks.

Yessss I'm so happy you'll do the rest of the season, I can't wait
Good decision Lucas, gonna love this so much
Hehehe "we couldn't help it" yeah, this season... *chief's kiss*
As soon as my appetite for Vox Machina reactions started to die down I got let’s say renewed inspection
Excited to see you doing season 2!!!! They did an AMAZING job on it as usual!!!
You were just going to do Episodes 1 and 12? Wha...what happened?
Glad you came back after all! Really enjoyed your Season 1 reactions and am super-bummed we don't get you both for all of Season 2!
OMG IM SO EXCITED FOR YOU TO WATCH THIS AAAGSHS!!! loved s2
I'm super happy to see you doing a reaction for each episode! Also, good call on watching the intro each time. You will definitely catch things you missed (or weren't aware of) as the season continues.
He’s so passionate, it’s attractive ahah 🤍
Loving the reaction series ✊🏼😌
So glad to hear you'll be doing reactions for the full season. Its too bad we won't get both of you but I'll take it!
Well done lads, have this comment to please the almighty algorithm.
I'm so glad you changed your mind! :)
I mean, I don't mind you talking about the meta of reaction videos. Bit of behind the scenes XD
Im so so glad you are doing this! Season 2 is amazing and Grog super funny :D And definitely ask if you have questions, we will answer :)
I can't wait for next episode....
I find my strength from my family
Wait, so I am confused. Are you doing reactions to all the episodes now, regardless of your original intention? I mean, good for me, your reactions from season 1 I enjoyed the most.
Lucas is gonna react to all the episodes solo and Alec will join back in for the finale!
Hell yeah! More LoVM!

I would very much suggest you go and watch clips of the first two times they meet Victor
They didn't react to ANY of the clips or comparison videos from campaign 1 in season 1... I doubt they're going to do it for season 2.
What character development.
“no one cares about you. i’m no different” … knowing campaign 1 oooffff when a “joke” about scanlan hits too close to home.
Yay!
yay
