- The one and only "Queen of Melisma" Mariah Carey has come back to the channel. This time I'm breaking down the climax from her song "I Wish You Knew" (from the album "The Emancipation of Mimi"). This climax features a transition to whistle register plus some complex and really fast runs. I hope you enjoy it.

The truth is that I feel a little sad because this song must have been more famous. María carey deserves recognition for her virtuous voice.
It would've flopped horribly. They were making secure moves during Emancipation and I wish you knew it's an awesome song and the lambs love it we need to understand that that was not the sound in airwaves, it's a song to fill space and help in cohesion but not single material just like When I feel it. The song that should've been a single was Mine Again, nominated for a Grammy (snubbed as always) but Mine again was setting Mariah to fail in the future. It's a crazy difficult song and a tour where you have to pull off Fly like a Bird, Vision of Love, Emotions and Hero would be vocal suicide for her and how was she going to explain that it was not part of the Adventures of Mimi tour? This song is really hard, sung basically in head voice and falsetto entirely with a crazy whistle ascending arpeggio.
@@mijalakis3 ok darling i wish someday she sing it again
@@mijalakis3 you are actually right. The sound this song has did not fit in the 2005 aesthetic at that time, but it fit the perfect cohesion to this album. That's why I hate that "When I Feel It" didn't make the final cut.
@@mijalakis3 i mean she made i dont wanna cry a single and didnt perform it for a while
The truth is its dubbed vocal recordings presented as authenthic to unsuspecting fans
wow never noticed that run 🤯 my goodness Mariah has such an agile voice
That run was too fast that I didn't notice until this day🤯😮
I would say it‘s a kind of extremely fast whistle vibrato or thrill. but still this is insane😍
Wtfff
That was a trill. Mariah puts trills in such odd places that we almost don't notice them. That showcases her operistic influence from her mother, and is one of the things that elevates her to a higher level vocally.
I would like to see you breaking down the whistle riff in “the one” live. Love your channel
That's a great riff to break down! I'll add it to the list.
The RnR Place thank you!!
@@thernrplace3424 well did you?
Wow I never even know about that 7 note run in whistle. All this time I was just shook from the fact that she literally scaled up switching between all of her registers basically (chest, mix, falsetto, whistle)
OMG NO WAY~~~ that's insane.
That 7-note run sounded like a Minun cry
Impressive
That's why she's so unique.
It's more easy to found second earth than the second mariah carey.
OMG THE KEYBOARD PART WAS SO CUTE LMAOOOOOOOO !!!
Nice video!
Jaw drop! 😲❤️🦋
Breaking down of (the one) live pleasseeeeee
No adjective to use to describe how impressive this woman is.
Queen of VOCALS💯💯💯💯💯
0:40 WTF
7 notes in a second.
OMG
new sub here hehe 😜
❤my angle
I think the riff is more a wild vibrato or trill
😵
someone said that’s a vibrato I’m confused now
I was kinda doubtful whether to put that as a run. I guess the first 4 notes (B6-Bb6-B6-Bb6) may be considered as vibrato, but then she goes into a G#6 followed by a B6-Bb6 which makes me think it is more of a run than vibrato. But anyway, I'm not an expert on vocal technique. I just write down the notes I hear :)
A vibrato cannot be too wide reaching a semitone higher or lower note. This is definitely a trill (and a really fast one).
It's definitely not a vibrato but a trill
@@todaysagoodday1862 Yes it can? Most classical or good vibratos are at least a semitone wide. If you have like a pitch detector and let it pick up accapella studio mariah or some opera singer almost all vibratos are almost a full note wide. This is just a very forceful and fast vibrato
@@thernrplace3424 Appoggiatura?
What app did u use
I don't think nobody can touch her @ALL..
One of my favorites from the album. Has she ever sang this live?
She sang it in Tha Adventures Of Mimi Tour back in 2006 and singing it currently on her Vegas residency.
Did she use mixed voice for those high notes before the whistles?
That was just probably vibrato on her whistle.
No babe. Based on the pattern of the melody, that part would sound ugly if it’s in monotone. So it’s a riff.
Watch her performance for Fly Like a Bird at the Grammys, her vibratos sounds resonant not melismatics
Her 7 note run in whistle called me talentless 😊
Her agility no naturaly fast even cant heard sometimes
Can you do Keke Wyatt “If Only You Knew” Run
Is it this one? ruclips.net/video/JLcdyYAdRS4/видео.html
@@thernrplace3424 that one too, but I was thinking of this one ruclips.net/video/IqC22abxKfA/видео.html
Hey! I never forgot about you, so here it is: ruclips.net/video/tOs3-6I8QUs/видео.html. Sorry for the delay tho. :(
I listened to it but there wasn't any whistle notes on Spotify?
There literally is?
You can do some great stuff in studio, but sadly she can't sing it live, even in her golden days...
Yet she's proven herself many times when singing live. Sad how you trolls try so hard
