    Just a note for beginners... Recommend never putting Brom's in the substrate... Keep them elevated on background or wood or else they will rot in no time.

      Good recommendation they have since moved. What’s your favorite plant?

    • @johnanderson1167

      Very true. If you DO like the look of the broms but would like a plant to go into the substrate Ide recommend one of the Cryptanthus variety. The "Pink Starlite" and "Ruby" versions are both quite nice and ad a splash of color to a terrarium.

    Nice to see you do a dart from video. I got into dart frogs after I had a 90g aquarium leak and ruin my kitchen floor. 1) you don't need spaghnum moss over the ABG. Thats super old school. Leaf litter over the abg is just fine. 2) you need a way to drain the water out of the drainage layer once it builds up.

    Just a little tip for the black mesh, next time before you install the background piece, stand the piece up on the mesh outside the tank and use a utility knife to cut to match the edges so that way all you have to do is the dimensions of the tank and the piece should drop right in. :-)

      I don’t saturate. But in the event you need to drain water you can drill a hole or use a small pump and tube to retrieve that water through the drainage layer. But if done there shouldn’t be too much water down there.

    Is it ok to have a screen lid on my Vivarium? Will my springtails climb out? The Vivarium I purchased has screen in the lid.

    • @Jaywil07
      @Jaywil07  Месяц назад

      No they won’t springtails will stay low for the most part.
      You want a screen because frogs don’t do well in stagnant air.

    What happens if the abg gets in the false bottom?

    • @Jaywil07
      @Jaywil07  4 года назад

      Nothing horrible you just do not want it to rot over time being stuck in the drainage

  • @nickgarcia7415
    @nickgarcia7415 2 года назад +1

    Why do you need the separation between the false bottom and substrate? Also how do you cycle a Vivarium?

    • @Jaywil07
      @Jaywil07  2 года назад

      Because if they mix it’s gets muddy and can mold.
      You let the roots and fauna grow for about 3-4 weeks
