Love tip #4 honestly changed my game a lot when I just calmed down on the course. I’m not a pro, never will be, so no need to get so upset playing a game a l love, outside, with my friends and family.
Loved the T shapes to explain the direction when Ball above or below feet. Regularly double bluff myself on this ! Great video Al.
Yesterday I got a mint condition R15. Pulled up YT for reviews and there was a lean mean eye glasses wearing big AL. Humor was great and 186 ball speed was impressive. That's why you have succeeded.
Number 2 struck me right in the feels. Getting ready to pull the trigger on new irons. Last ten years I have been anywhere from +1 to around 2 hdcp. Had shoulder surgery and did not swing a club for nearly 16 months. I have found that the forged irons are no longer my friends. I know it's my swing but I think going backwards to move forwards is in order. I am all over the club face and something a little more forgiving is the proper call. It's gonna take time to find that sweet spot again. Mentality is a big one. I started 5 over through 4 the other day and managed to salvage a round in the 70s. Twenty years ago I would have walked off the course after breaking half of my clubs. I feel like that one just comes with age....it can't be taught, it must be learned. Keep preaching it and it sinks in. Some of us are slow learners....lol. Thanks for the great content!

Great tips, especially reigning in the temper, still a work in progress. The only thing I would add, though it might not quite fit the video format, is to spend the majority of practice time on 100 yards and in.

I play the same ball brand and model in tournaments for the last 2 yrs. Same balls I gap test before tournaments with too. New clubs? No need for me to change irons and putter. Wedges get used till grooves be dinged and dented. So New wedges each year. Tip 4 relatable

Mental part for me is my Achilles heel, and the driver thing too. Oh, and that tip about checking the lie, yeah that as well. Bought a bunch of different equipment too, so I recognise that trait…..hang on…I’m doing all this stuff, but not the club throwing…although the other week I did seriously consider chucking the lot in the lake.🤦🏻♂️Thanks for the wake-up, Al.

I used to have anger problems during golf. Now ive grown to realize bad shots are not worth getting upset about. The game isn't how i make my living. Just there to enjoy some time with the friends and enjoy touching some grass!
I guess I’m just lucky that I don’t like my driver currently. Hitting more fairways because of it 😅. Though to get down to a scratch handicap, I guess I will need more length in my game
No chance of giving up my driver, I'm averaging over 80% FIR at the moment. I don't hit it very far so getting driver in play is essential.

Regarding bad reactions on the course, Pádraig Harrington said this to Peter Finch. "Are you that arrogant that you think you're that good that you can play with a bad attitude?" He continued to say that even pros aren't that good.

The "get a lofted club and try to find the planet" was low key one of the funnier lines I've heard and that hit my 15 year old self hard. Haha. I would always use my driver and it would always go 300 yards or so...could never tell you which direction or shape that 300 yards would be though. Or what hole the ball would land on

You forgot tip #6. Don't play from the tips unless you have to play from the tips. I see way to many people playing from the wrong tee box and get frustrated, play from where you can make a reasonable score from.
All boils down to this... Would you shoot a better score if you had a PGA caddy with you.... YES !!! So learn to think like one and be your own caddy. This will = ( dun dun duunnnn....) ... A better score 😊 your welcome 🎉

Al, I have to disagree with the driver tip. For those of us who only hit it like 250 off the tee, the driver may well be the easiest club in the bag to hit. It's huge face is a big help. And its built for forgiveness. That makes it far more accurate than my fairway woods, or even my long irons. Personally, I often hit driver for safety. It has infinitely more technology to help me hit it straight than does pretty much any club in my bag.
Some people prefer it but it’s the minority as loft scientifically isn’t your friend when you’re off 👍 majority of golfers also don’t have the speed to benefit from a driver. They’d hit it further and straighter with an iron or fairway
As a senior, I agree with this. In our senior league, you will see some of the best drivers of the golf ball with a driver. We need distance and fairways, driver off the tee is the club for us. These ole guys are like surgeons, dissecting the fairway.
@@alexetchesgolf Al, I love you, man. And I respectfully disagree. There are a lot of golfers like me who can reliably hit their driver around 250. Then next longest club in my bag, I can carry 200. That is an enormous difference. Not only that, but if I'm off by a degree or two, I'm still in play. I simply can't hit it far enough to get into too much trouble. The modern driver was built for guys like me. I take advantage of every bit of that technology.
@chetlovesmer9549 happy to disagree. Just from experience of fitting for 15 years. Golfers would be better with a mini driver as they can’t generate the spin 👍
