Been waiting in this lol. Have had these for like 3 weeks. Literally can’t help but grab them every run. I was pleasantly surprised how much I loved these.
I have been a pretty big fan of the Neo Vista so far on the runs I have used it for over the last couple of weeks and absolutely spot on with the SC Trainer V1 vibes.
This was a really useful video. As someone that loves Mizuno and was contemplating getting a pair, I really enjoyed your feedback. The attention to detail regarding the laces and how they might twist was really helpful as this is bound to happen to me.
Just picked these up after giving up on trying to get a pair of the SC Trainer V1. I heard a lot of good things about the SC Trainer V1 so I was super excited to get these as a SC Trainer V1 “clone” . Took them out for a 10k run, they were super mushy and comfortable, my feet never felt so fresh after a 10k. I wasn’t so impressed with the rebound and the roll, but that could be because I’m more of a forefoot striker. I’ll try to focus on striking more with my heel for my next run. Overall I love how these shoe keep my feet feeling so fresh after a longer run, these are my new replacement for my Invincible run 3s as a long run shoe.
I remember my first pair of water shoes! Jokes aside, great review as always, Mike, thanks for making it for us. Seems like a pretty specific shoe that a lot of runners would really enjoy.
Great review as always! May I suggest adding the range of pace (in min. / mi. or km.) when you describe moderate efforts, easy run, threshold, etc.? You may not be an elite runner, but you're pretty fast, so your threshold pace might be someone else's anaerobic speed :D I think Adding a specific number will help translate the description for viewers across a wide range of running abilities.
Just "bounced" out an easy 10 miler. These are just an EZ day shoe for me, cruise along, eat up miles. I have 50 miles in them and have had them for 2 weeks. We will see how durable they are real quick.
I got these shoes a week ago and have taken them for both an easy run and a long run with threshold work, and I have to say these are the most fun running shoes I've tried in years! At slower paces, I find they have the same squish/bounce sensation that the original Alphafly's have at fast paces. Over the long run, they were beautiful in protecting my legs and giving me some extra bounce later in the run. During my threshold intervals they were fine, but that is where I would stop the Alphafly comparisons. They aren't as fast as an outright race shoe but still... I would use this shoe for anything and would even run a marathon in them if I didn't want to shell out the cash for a super shoe.
Bought. Used for easy 5km recovery run (I'm a noob so can only do 5:40min/km). I'm a midfoot striker, with heel bias, and this rivals NB More V5 in terms of squish. Definitely made for heel strikers and feels almost as nice as heel striking in Novablast 4. The eyelets mentioned is a concern because I usually use a runners knot and have to cinch these fairly tight. The grommets aren't grommets at all upon close inspection, they're only 0.2mm thick of flimsy plastic so only cosmetic. The two top eyelets go through another layer of "reinforced" material that also encompasses the heel and forms the flimsy heel counter. DO NOT get the white (women's) colourway as I did as it stains extremely easily. Walked though some grass and managed to get several ugly marks even after copious dousing with Scotchgard. I went down one size and the fit is 👌. Very comfy and snug. Lovely to walk in.
it is in that running in it is so soft its like running through mud to pick up the pace. I would not order this shoe from Mizuno btw as once you run in it they won't let you return it. learned that the hard way.
It definitely feels light on foot, I didn’t experience any “running through mud” sensation. To be fair I’ve only used it on one run and for a 10 mile tempo, it was really easy to hit my paces. Warm up pace was at around 8:00 minute miles for 2 miles, then picked it up to 6:45 for the run. At those paces it felt great, way easier than the New Balance SC Trainer V2 that I ran in previous to these. The NB felt heavy and it was hard to put any speed into them, though they are definitely more comfortable than the Neo Vistas.
Context is important, no? If we’re talking about a trail shoe, that’s light. If we’re talking about a shoe that is advertised as designed for speedier days, 9.4 is not svelte.
Just got them today. Will have my first practice tomorrow. Since I have the SC Trainer V1, I'll be able to compare them. Hope Mizuno surprises me, for it is my first pair. Have a great one, everybody!
@@armyawesome so far, not working for me. I have run only 3 times with it, 21km (give or take), but my left foot goes numb after 4 or 5km. I have tried everything possible to solve it, but no luck so far... hope it works next practices...
Very interesting review. Looking at these to replace my ZoomX Invincibles that are about to hit 400 miles and have a lot of heel wear, which I guess makes me a heel striker.
Sometimes heel wear comes from forefoot striking (forefoot is initial contact point and then back of the shoe hits ground on push off). It’s why a lot of my daily trainers get a lot of wear on the lateral heel
The way you define “mushy” is exactly what I dislike about shoes like the NB More, for one example. Shoes like this make me feel like I’m working harder, which is the last thing I want in a highly cushioned shoe, since my only reason to have such shoes is for longer, easy runs.
I think the point of a superstackheight shoe is running LONG distances while protecting your legs. Yes, you sacrifice some speed, but the protection is (usually) worth it if it's just training.
Depends, I like the more v4, its the sc trainer v2 that feels too mushy for me .. or maybe its me becoming pickier .. really like boston 12 lately, really not mushy yet protective
Well. I'm getting it -- just because I'm an illegal stack height collector. If it's illegal, it has to be good, right? I only agree with Mr. Fuzi about half the time. Remember when he said the SCT2 was more boring but better? I agreed with half that statement. 😁There can be no doubt that Mizuno took the SCT1 as their inspiration (stack height, center channel, knit upper) so I'm supercurious about the not-quite-supercritcal EVA. I'm concerned that the grommets won't allow a runner's knot which I use on just about everything. I really hope that doesn't become a new trend.
I'm a mid foot striker, with heel bias, and WAS keen on this until your vid. I've bought shoes based on yours and eddbud's recommendations. You mentioned you're a midfoot striker... I've watched dozens of your vids and to me you're forefoot. Are most of your vids shot whilst you're at a fast pace?
The design is almost resemblance to New Balance SC Elite V3. The knit booty upper, the lacing systems (except for 2 last holes), the midsole canyon in the middle part. Its almost like Mizuno take the SC elite as inspiration.
I really didn’t think the two shoes were that similar until everyone on IG kept asking if they would feel the same. And then looked at the two shoes side by side and couldn’t unsee the resemblances
I ran a few miles in demo shoes in a local Mizuno event. The foam feels like EVA in Atreyu Artist and close to softness of New Balance RC Elite v2. I dig the upper and comfort of this shoe but I was expecting a bit more energy return (and I am a mid-foot to heel lander). I would like to get a pair sometime as a recovery shoe/causal shoe but I would be looking for a deal for that as it would be too expensive for that purpose. Upper also reminds me of knit upper of Nike Epic React 2 which is my current causal use shoe.
The lace problem... would a runners knot solve that?.. so go thru one grommet hole, directly back thru adjacent hole. Do on both sides, then thread thru created loops and tie the laces.
I don’t think so. Admittedly, I only looked at it for a minute, but unless you avoid the grommet entirely, at some point, the lace has to go from outside the shoe to inside. And that is where the potential irritation occurs
@kofuzi oh OK... Maybe a way to fix the issue would be to have a pair of single eyelets on each side, to thread lace thru before it gets to the grommet. Or replace the grommet with a double ended tie point (similar to those seen on walking boots, but made out of plastic). Keeps lace on outside, and tying of runners knot would be possible.
I have the Neo Vistas. My only gripe is that I feel more unstable especially in the ankles. If running on trails or uneven surfaces, I feel much more likely to twist an ankle. I find that they really activate my shin splints more than other shoes as well. That being said, extremely soft/bouncy.
@@kofuzi I did, once. Lesson learned. Even on asphalt/pavement, there’s just something about them that makes me feel a bit wobbly/uncontrolled in my feet. Never had that issue before.
I insist on explaining shoes by effort rather than pace. What I feel from a shoe at easy effort should be roughly what you experience in the same shoe at easy effort, regardless of whether you’re easy pace is 12:00min/mi or 7:00
Beautiful blue colors. I have white trainers now and it looks stained after so any miles. All black shoes for the office on the other hand are too hot and dark. We need more blue shoes in different shades of blue.
Bought this 2 months ago as replacement for my OG Superblast as my long run shoes. (almost 600km++ for my Second pair of SB1) 133KM done in this shoes. Yes, it's soft but have some lag of bounce. I'm trying to love this shoes. But, it's failed. One big problem for me is durability. The outsole durability is so bad. Because muzino labeling as daily or super "trainer", i expect 300 up to 500km or more for "trainer". At my highway area, it's already gone just for 100km++. And now, it's hella slippery at just Slightly wet condition. The midsole is getting too soft for picking up the pace. Suited me for below 7km/min Loosing the bounce like what i remembered when i got this for my first run. Now, it's just soft. Really2 small bounce left, just after 133km? For me, it's crazy. And, it's unstable. Maybe just because too soft midsole? Idk. That's what i feel. And thanks god, i bought the Superblast 2, 3 weeks ago. After 65km, SB2 already brakein. And, yes. For me, SB2 is way way better shoes than Neo Vista. It's softer than previous model, it's bouncier, it's more breathable, great stability, and no sign of wearing after 65km at the outsole. Lighter than neo vista. It's feel like SB2 made for me. It's suited me perfectly. So, i retired Mizuni Neo Vista just after 133KM. Fastest Retirement so far. 😔
I tried these on a few days ago in a store, got to do some strides in them, and I honestly loved the bounce. I am in the market for something like a super trainer I guess. I want some sort of a plate for my faster runs, but also want to run a marathon in them, attempting sub 4:00 (which tells you I'm not a super fast runner). Unfortunately, the fit wasn't right for me and they didn't have a smaller size.
Let's see. I'm still thinking about my options. With summer sales everywhere now, I am hoping for a good deal on something. Saw the Magic Speed 3 a few times, but also usually not in my size.
Hi Kofuzi. New subscriber here. Btw, I really need you advise. Lately I've been considering to buy a new shoe. But I haven't decided should I buy a plated shoe (this neo vista is one of the option) or rebel v4. If you suggest to buy a plated shoe, which one should I consider to buy? Fyi, I'm a slow runner with pace around 9 - 11/km. My body weigh around 170 pounds with height around 5'7. For now my shoe rotations are asics novablast 4, new balance 1080 v13 and hoka bondi 8.
i took mine out on a 10 mile run and found turning the gears hard af. its too mushy for my liking and shoes like the kinvara pro i find way more versatile
@@Phampham453 Sorry it didn't work out for you! I'm not looking for the excitement in the SC trainer V2, I just need something that will get me the mileage at slightly faster pace but also can be easy on my Achilles for the easy miles too.
@@kenklee4 no problem, live and learn! One more note is that the SCTv2 is the first and only shoe where I got shin splints after using. I've never had them in my life and I feel it after every run with them. But I hope they're exactly what youre lookin for!
@@Phampham453 That's certainly odd. I've gotten shin splits before but that was because I was running too fast with very bad form. Did you feel they were cushioned but not mushy? I like a shoe that's in between - not super firm but has enough where I'm not feeling the ground at mile 7.
@@kenklee4 it’s hard to say why exactly. Maybe it’s because the mushiness of the foam encourages a slow pace, but the carbon plate makes the shoe too stiff for that pace
About maxxed out my gel nimbus 25s, used for recovery days and long runs and loved them a ton. Any similar recs? Willing to run it back with the 26s or try something new. Thank you, love the channel.
I personally prefer the 25 to the 26. The Neo Vista is certainly worth considering, as it is cushier than the 26. But it would only make sense if you think it would work for your footstrike. (I normally don’t talk about footstrike this much, but with Mizunos, it really is a big part of experience imo)
Both of these are better for heel strikers, in my opinion. But depending on what you want, that will determine which is the right one for you as a forefoot striker. If you want something mushy and relaxed, get the Mizuno. If you want something a bit more peppy, get the SC strainer
@@kofuzi So would you recomend any other super shoes for forefoot strikers? I'm mainly looking for comfort trainer for half marathon training other than the superblast as I can't find it anywhere on the market.
How does this compare with the Gel Nimbus 25? I have the Gel Nimbus but was looking to get this pair as a "speedier" pair. I'm an amateur runner so this would really just be for running faster paces that perhaps would be more appropriate than the Nimbus 25. Appreciate any advice!
I’m not sure speedier is exactly the word I’d use for it but that may be because it doesn’t seem to agree with my footstrike. I think I’d look at it as an endurance or Grand Touring version of a nimbus. A little bit more cruise-y. A little bit more airy. Still comfy
I got the neo vista and I love running in them. They are very fun. I have already 36km with them ( 3 runs, approx 12km per run) but each time I use them I am getting blisters on my feet. Anyone else with this problem? It kills me because I like them alot but I don't think I will keep them.
Ia anyone finding that this shoe runs long in the toe box? I got my regular size 8 and it's too Wave Rebellion Flash 2 which I'm really liking fits fine in my regular size 8.
Tried these, midsole was wild and despite all the stability work I do, something about this shoe wrecked my achilles. Maybe it was the heel collar running into it.
It is good to see super trainers that are not too expensive because they use their own R&D to develop their middlesoles ! No need to pay for royalties to use PEBAX technology.
when you say arch issues, does it have a high arch or a lack of support arch? i have a fairly dumb, flat, goofy midfoot with little arch but I'm mostly a midfoot striker with some heel striking when i get tired.
What I mean is that it makes my arch ache without blistering. So it’s not from contact with the shoe but from like a muscle strain. There’s something that the shoe is doing that is working against how my foot wants to work. And that puts undue strain on muscles of my feet
@@kofuzi thanks for the insight! I have another pair of the Novablast 3 on deck but am looking for something to help on longer runs after I wear that pair out. Didn’t get along with the Novablast 4…
It is kinda funny that nearly every shoe in Mizuno's lineup is geared towards heel strikers except for their racer, which practically has no heel at all.
I'm a midfoot striker, and have the Mizuno Wave Daichi 7 and Wave Mujin 9 trail shoes. The drop of those shoes isn't too high (so isn't just for heel strikers). The Daichi is underrated, but is a really good shoe. The Mujin rock plate makes it heavy and unforgiving, but OK if u want to train in something heavier then swap to a lighter race shoe. For muddy trails up to 16k, easy pace or just to walk in.
I think the Wave Rebellion Pro is actually optimal for heel strikers (and extreme bevel ends up making a heel striker’s foot land more underneath the body. And rather than heel brake, the heel striker then becomes more of a heel striker with the ground contact pull of a heel striker. Or at least that’s how I think it works in my mind.
Cannot understand how other runners like overly soft and mushy foams - to me it's like running in quick sand, makes run not enjoyable and it feels like you hitting the ground without any protection Also I'm 90kg runner and for me more foams feels like mushy then for 60-70kg runner
Sounds like getting my shoe shipment pushed back was actually a good sign and i need to cancel my shipment and just get a Saucony Endorphin Pro 4's instead.
I have 3 OG Prime X AND this shoe. Both can easily fit in the rotation. Mizuno is a slower, EZ run shoe. Prime X is EZ but can go up tempo without issue.
@@kofuzi I wasn’t. I watched all of the video and enjoy most of your videos that have good content, however this was an opinion from a fellow shoe geek. Maybe the shoe is over complicated as you talk about different variances affecting your gait and muscle imbalances. The majority of people just want to go out and run and not overthink as that lessens the enjoyment. It’s good that you pointed the issues out. Keep Running 👌
That shoe looks ridiculous. Both in the color and the design. And shoes are getting heavier because people are heavier. I’ll stick with lightweight race shoes.
Prime example of how the running shoe industry is headed straight towards a cliff. Another desperate attempt to coddle the consumer's feet as much as possible, for a premium price. Don't fall for the marketing, no one's feet needs this much cushioning!!
If you’re thinking the Brooks Hyperion Elite 4 is the pinnacle of what EVA based foams can do and therefore don’t run in any other EVA based shoes, you will be missing out on a lot of fun miles. Luckily, there are a lot of non-EVA options available on the market today.
@@kofuzi why even bother with EVA based foams when PEBA is FAR superior in literally every way? Sure, PEBA shoes are usually, if not always, more expensive but if one can afford it, why not?

Fyi, I'm a slow runner with pace around 9 - 11/km. My body weigh around 170 pounds with height around 5'7.
For now my shoe rotations are asics novablast 4, new balance 1080 v13 and hoka bondi 8.
i took mine out on a 10 mile run and found turning the gears hard af. its too mushy for my liking and shoes like the kinvara pro i find way more versatile
If you love the Kinvara Pro, the Neo Vista is not for you
I've been running rotating the Puma Deviate Nitro 2 but I'm considering purchasing the SC trainer v2 to replace it once it goes on sale.
I have the SC trainer v2. It's not exciting at all, I regret buying it and I got it for $123. I would recommend getting something else!
I thought you might have made the comparison of the Mizuno to the On Cloudeclipse. Seems like they’d have a similar use case.
Thanks for the review. Wish would you recommend ignoring the price, NB Trainer V3 or the Mizuno Neo Vista? Given that I'm a Forefoot runners.
Apparently the wave rider 28 has the energy nxt as well, wonder how that holds up in a daily trainer
Question. Is the nia vista good for just steady running paces?
Thanks Kofuzi I’m in market for a shoe this one is very interesting
How does this compare with the Gel Nimbus 25? I have the Gel Nimbus but was looking to get this pair as a "speedier" pair.
I'm an amateur runner so this would really just be for running faster paces that perhaps would be more appropriate than the Nimbus 25.
Appreciate any advice!
I’m not sure speedier is exactly the word I’d use for it but that may be because it doesn’t seem to agree with my footstrike.
I think I’d look at it as an endurance or Grand Touring version of a nimbus. A little bit more cruise-y. A little bit more airy. Still comfy
@@kofuzi Very helpful! Thanks kind sir
Wide fit please Mizuno
I got the neo vista and I love running in them. They are very fun. I have already 36km with them ( 3 runs, approx 12km per run) but each time I use them I am getting blisters on my feet. Anyone else with this problem? It kills me because I like them alot but I don't think I will keep them.
Interesting description. Like to Kofuzi. Have a good day.
Hi Kofuzi, would the Neo Vistas work in partnership with the superblast in a rotation or are those two shoes too similar?
I feel like they are trying to achieve similar goals but their approach is quite different
Got them. They seem stiffer the faster you go. Walking they are very soft. Not crazy fun like the PrimeX or PrimeX 2
Would these be great for flat feeters?
when you say arch issues, does it have a high arch or a lack of support arch? i have a fairly dumb, flat, goofy midfoot with little arch but I'm mostly a midfoot striker with some heel striking when i get tired.
What I mean is that it makes my arch ache without blistering. So it’s not from contact with the shoe but from like a muscle strain. There’s something that the shoe is doing that is working against how my foot wants to work. And that puts undue strain on muscles of my feet
Closest way I can explain it is that it’s like when you time a jump on a trampoline wrong and it makes your knees buckle
@@kofuzi thanks for the insight! I have another pair of the Novablast 3 on deck but am looking for something to help on longer runs after I wear that pair out. Didn’t get along with the Novablast 4…
can you please review the adidas adizero sl 2, i’ve been looking forward to your review of it for a minute 🫡
Stay tuned
What watch are you wearing here??
Hi can you use the Asics Novablast 4 in the gym?
I don't recommend using any running shoe for lower body weight training, if that is what you mean by gym
For lifting, use flat sole shoes, training shoes or even vans/Converse. Whatever fits your toebox and overall comfort/stability.
@@kofuzi thanks. What can you recommend Shoes that are great for lifting?
try chuck taylors
Please review the mizuno wave ride 28 🙏
Hi 😮 Neo or Superblast …
Which is softer ?
Which is rolling ?
Thx 🙏
Neo Vista is way softer and rolling smoother
@@Aron-t6m 🙏 Thank you
just curious why Kofuzi never review nike shoes
So they basically remade the NB fuelcell TC? I'm in 🎉
No no no
Hello! May we know if this is true to size?
Yes but if you have wide feet try half size up
I went with my usual running shoe size and that worked well for me
also i would buy this shoe from running warehouse etc. if you don't like it and buy it from mizuno directly they won't let you return it...
Yo, what’s going on!! Mizuno is definitely in my list to try out. Haven’t tried any of this brand 😕
Yo Luis!
Worth the price guys? Or should I stick to Hoka/Asics??
If you like what you heard in this video, maybe. If you didn’t, probably not.
@@outerheaven8797 I want to try the Daichi out for sure. They put a lot of tech and thought into it.
@@kofuzi Hadn’t thought of it that way; taking advantage of the negative space like that
Cannot understand how other runners like overly soft and mushy foams - to me it's like running in quick sand, makes run not enjoyable and it feels like you hitting the ground without any protection
Also I'm 90kg runner and for me more foams feels like mushy then for 60-70kg runner
How stable are these?
Not very. Squishy and stable tend to be on opposite ends of the stability spectrum
damn was hoping these would be on the firmer end, maybe on the next iteration haha they look killer though, no doubt
Sounds like getting my shoe shipment pushed back was actually a good sign and i need to cancel my shipment and just get a Saucony Endorphin Pro 4's instead.
Oh yeah. if you were looking for something that would be similar to an endorphin pro, you will not like what the Neo Vista offers
@@kofuzi my current rotation are the endorphin speed 4 and ride 17 so maybe I'm better off with the pro 4s for sure!
Just when I buy the Prime X on discount, Mizuno drop this......dammit!
Prime X is likely the better shoe for near-MP efforts and distances.
@@laalaa99stl will await further reviews from forums and smaller channels and see if it’ll be worth it.
I have 3 OG Prime X AND this shoe. Both can easily fit in the rotation. Mizuno is a slower, EZ run shoe. Prime X is EZ but can go up tempo without issue.
@@jimoconnor8597 Thanks! I look forward to the Prime X!
I don’t consider the experiences similar, although the use cases may overlap quite a bit
Ankle sock reference 😂
heyy...I also wear crew socks too....sometimes
Running wear house says 53 and 47 stack height
I want to love this shoe, but I weigh 235 lbs and if the shoe doesn't have any pop, I will literally melt into them and can't get out.
Motivation Theory Running is a bigger guy, and he really likes them

But what’s your comment 😂?

Over complicated review🤔
If you’re looking for the tldr, it’s in the description
Don't fall for the marketing, no one's feet needs this much cushioning!!
exactly, barefoot shoes or go home
These are cheap for the amount and quality of the foam. Inferior shoes sell for over $200.
@@Feanaro5503 you're missing the point entirely. They need to be paying ME to run with that foam
Exactly. Run without shoes! Our ancestors had no such devices to run in and they did just fine.
@@jimoconnor8597 Barefoot shoes = best of both worlds
EVA is still EVA, I don’t care what they do to it. 💩
Yeah, you haven't run in this shoe...
@@jimoconnor8597 the last “ supercritical “ EVA I tried was the Brooks Hyperion Elite 4, and that shoe was pure garbage. I’ll pass.
