    Truly informative! I needed a reference that highlighted basic wood frame construction methods & techniques where ruclips.net/user/postUgkxYGamVaHfdHiPlAQaLa7zkwR02OKpGYDU were best. I am pleased with the depth and clarity of Ryan’s Shed Plans. It was really convenient to capture!

    I like the final result, but I'm struggling to see why pallets were the way to go. With amount of money spent on the cladding and boarding out ,wouldn't it have been quicker to just frame it ?

    Hi I totally love your shed! Amazing craftsmanship, looks solid as... I'm thinking of doing something similar just a bit bigger 5.5m x 3.5m. How did you stop the walls bowing out in the middle where the pallets join? I am concerned the walls will kind of 'bulge' if not strengthened. Cheers

    • @davidstout4826
      @davidstout4826  5 лет назад +1

      Hi Ross, thanks mate, well I just bottomed them together with screws and 3x2. Bowing never happened once even when I was building it. As soon as the roof joists were on they were really solid. It doesn't creek or anything which I was expecting if I'm honest. It really is very solid.

    Hi mate, I'm in the process of building something similar but I'm a bit sceptical, as I'm thinking of building it on top of decking! Do you think that will work? Did you screw your first level of pallets to the base or use brackets? Thanks

    • @davidstout4826
      @davidstout4826  4 года назад

      I made battons that sat inside the pallet then screwed to the base and the walls. I'm notbure about putting it on decking but if it's solid enough I can't see a problem. Even if you use the decking as the floor which I assume you are.

I used a roofing membrane between the Osb and the cladding. The only think I do need to do is insulate the roof inside and the floor. I have an electric rad in there and it soon warms up though.

    The question is it can only be two and half metres in height near my border in the UK
    What I was thinking
    When you are building with pallets does the two and half metres start from the top off the floor pallet or at the bottom of the floor pallet
    Can someone please confirm this

    • @davidstout4826
      @davidstout4826  3 года назад +1

      You need to check with your council mate, in some areas you have to build so far away from the neighbours fence and have a height restriction which is usually from the ground up. From memory mine had to be 2.2 meters high but with no restrictions on haw far from the fence.

      Gary Lapsley personally I think floors a good idea but if the walls are getting boarded then shiplaped only really saving the price of about 14 7'x3"×2" plus those metal joining plates most probably cost as much as the wood would. So I can't see the use of using them really.

    • @davidstout4826
      @davidstout4826  7 лет назад

      Grrandad Groans I only used a few metal plates, got them from a diy store that was closing down 25p each. Probably a bit of overkill on the walls I agree, just wanted an airtight dry building.

      I didn't mate no, tbh even when it's freezing I don't ge cold feet I put some rubber backed carpet tiles down I got off a site and it's fine. I do need to insulate the ceiling though. When I put my radiator on though it soon warms up and stays warm, 10 minutes in and I'm in a t'shirt

      @@magpie_up_a_mountain hi mate I only used 2"x4" and with 3. 5 meter between the front and back wall it was a bit of a risk but the roof hasn't had any movement In three years, I suppose the osb boards have given it a lot of strength.
